  1. Shop is up and running with PayPal ONLY at the mo (though you don't need a PayPal accout to pay). Membership are no longer controlled via the shop. We have an all new membership system with instant upgrade and full member control. Plenty about that in the member's area and FAQ Forums.
  2. In order to test payment acknowledgements from the payment gateways I had to disable the password protection on the shop. Despite putting announcements at the top of every forum saying not to use the shop, the minute I did so, eyerybody and their brother tries to use the shop Eventually I removed all the upcoming events to stop people attempting to order. PM JohnS re Knockhill. He's best placed to advise.
  3. VERY nice. Far nicer than that avatar of yours. It scares me.
  4. I've just noticed a major technical problem with that video. At the end it indicates the fastest colour is blue. As I'm now in a BLACK scoob I'll have to redo it
  5. If we did an award for "post of the day" this would surely win todays award!
  6. I've discovered the Gallery can handle multimedia files as well as pics I've uploaded all the Flash vids I've done previously. The vids are presented in a slightly smaller frame than I created them in so some of the text doesn't look as clear, and it might just have been me, but the sound was a wee bit crackly. Useful place to point a newbie if they ask what this Santa Cruise thing is all about clicky linky PS I can't open the facility up to members to upload video at the moment. I need to wait a while and see how the gallery affects bandwidth usage. :brickwall:
  7. Seems to be causing a bit of confusion so it's been removed.

    Errmmm...

Tok a while for somebody to suss it!
  9. Warning issued for attempting to circumvent the swear filter.
  10. I've created a category for "Scottish Scoobies" - little bit of individuality. Members can create Albums within that and upload
  11. Log a ticket. There's a change I have to make to your member account before you can get in to renew. When you've logged the ticket I'll make the change and email back instructions
  12. In answer to your question, yes. The site is not "a pig to get on" - 99% of users have managed with no hassles whatsoever. As for your complaint... 1) You correctly logged a support ticket saying you couldn't log on at 23:01 on the 21st. 2) Even though you are not a paid up SIDC Member, I responded with a fix to your problems at 23:03 - two minutes after you logged your problem. How many organisations do you deal with that provide a personal response and fix to your problems within two minutes ? And how many respond at 11pm at night? I've heard nothing since so have to assume your problem is fixed. I guess the fact you're now you're logged in complaining proved my fix worked... I'll accept fair criticism, but yours is unjustified
  13. The new SIDC brings us a lot of opportunities to do new things and Phil and i have been chatting around some of them. One of the possibilities that came to light was a totally seperate Forum User Group called "Scottish Scoobies Supporters" This would have it's own seperate "member logo" like the ones members have now (except suitably Scottish themed, of course!) and be available as an upgrade only to Full SIDC Members via your membership control panel - again all fully automated. There would be a charge for this - we're thinking £5 - £10 a year (no more than that) and Phil has committed all money raised would go back into the Scottish side of the SIDC for Santa Cruise or other charity events. Firstly, would people be up for this? I think it's a great idea and a nice, easy way to raise extra funding for what is a fantastic cause, but that's only my opinion. The only potential pitfall I can see is "Well 50% of the Scottish Scoobies Supporters come from xxxxxxxx region so we should get 50% of the money". If we can all agree, if this goes ahead, that funds raised would be split equally amongst ALL the regions running Santa Cruise events in Scotland then I think we're on to a winner. Thoughts?

  16. I can only answer from a website point of view as all these "member benefits" are totally new and only available from today. From a Forum aspect Members have: 20MB Upload space each on the SIDC Server for photos etc. 100 Personal Messages Storage, as opposed to 20 for non-members (or is it 10? I can't remember) That will probably increase for members and decrease for non-members. Ability to upload up to 3 cars to the SIDC Garage with 4 photos of each car and 5 photos of Mods to each car. That will probably change to accomodate demand from members. Unlimited (for now anyway! That will change) upload access to the SIDC Gallery. Ability to create and post to a Blog. Possibly not of interest unless you're undergoing a project. Benefits outside the website, best to speak to Karyn or Phil. I've had discounts that pay for membership, but I've not always had them without arguing my case. I can confirm, when the membership system goes live, hopefully tomorrow, you'll have total control over your membership account. Can renew as and when you want and automated reminders are built-in. I've been using this system elsewhere for about 18 months now and it's the dogs danglies.
  17. It is and the poor lad has lost all his posts. When we ran the test site Dunc was involved and it didn't like the ! in his name, but going live it's been okay with other users with "unacceptable"! characters like ? or *. I'll see what I can do to get the old Ac!d back tomorrow.
  18. I'll raise my head above the parapet now and say, yup, it is indeed There is a lot of new stuff to find your way around, but folk will get there. I'll write up some more tutorials once I suss the areas folk are struggling with. BTW, we had one or two technical issues during the migration. There were two users who didn't make it due to err......errrr.... data corruption, yeah. That's it. They were users "Phil" and "Andy". Fortunately neither of them had logged in since 2003 and had only made three posts between them. Since those names just happened to become free, it would be a shame not to use them - hence the name change.
  19. you guys now have your own area in Regional, as requested

Nothing will change as far as chatting goes. This isn't some sort of Nazi regime moving in! What we do want to do is discourage people from posting purely for the sake of increasing their post count. We've all seen it: "Ooh" "I'm" "almost" "at" "100000000000000000" "posts" "I'll" "make" "a" "few" "more" "just" "to" "get" "there" kinda thing! [] Chat is very much part of the community and that certainly will not change.

I think somebody's been on the wind-up! Post counts will NOT go back to zero - if they do then I'm in deep doo-doo! Post counts will not be displayed beneath a user's name any more though to discourage post-whoring. They'll only be accessible via a user's profile (and if that don't stop the whores then the count will go from there too!) []
  22. I hate bumping topics, but can anyone provide info as to what info fields I should supply in the new website "Garage" for Rolling Road information?

The post whores are in for a shock [:#] []
  24. Thanks for your help so far guys, but I'm not finished yet! Obviously it would be nice to have fields that could be completed for Rolling road info, but being technically clueless I have no idea what fields would be required. If someone can enlighten me I'm happy to get them in there []
