  1. Looks like a good day out. Cracking weather. Nice to see some Scooby pics without a pimped-up Forester lurking somewhere
  2. Oh dear. Maybe I shouldn't have moved it in here after all. <tries to look all innocent> I just thought it only fair those it was addressed to had a chance to reply. <tries to look even more innocent> I'm not too good at this looking innocent stuff. OI Pulsarboy!
  3. I have it on DVD here. I'm sending copies to SCOuk and Gus (and PM'd marky re it). Happy to send to anybody else who wnats it. All I ask is some kind of donation to Jerviswood in return.
  4. I think I'll move this topic into the Lions Den. It's a bit out of the way being stuck in the main off-topic forum and isn't getting the erm.... "focused" audience it really deserves...
  5. All my previous photo-vid type efforts have been introduced as "I've been Playing" or "I've been playing again" type stuff. I have been doing that thing again, but certainly didn't enjoy it this time. I've put together my little tribute to the events of last weekend - but be warned, it's a BIG download and may say "Buffering" for a few minutes. I expect demand to be high - so much so, I've put it on both a primary and a mirror web server. Neither web server is SIDC so it's not using SIDC resources. If the primary site is too slow, try the mirror site. High speed broadband users can view it here: Primary Site Mirror Site For those without broadband or who wish to have a copy to keep, it is downloadable as an executable file here: Primary site Mirror Site Note - the offline viewing copy is an executable file, but only contains the video player. It is guaranteed totally virus-free. I've not credited those I took photos/video from. Sorry. I went on a bit of a leech-fest and grabbed so many pics and video I lost track. Thanks to all. If those who have video featured wish to send me higher resolution stuff then I can up the quality. I just hope I've done justice. I had several soudtracks in mind and tried a few, but given Colin's taste there could only be one song. Sorry it dips in the video clips. That's the editing package that does that. If I can get higher res video I'll try and sort it. Expect a judder down the spine at very least and few tears at most. I had both putting it together...
  6. Two copies of TG turned up today. Once addressed to me, one addressed to "Wibble"
  7. Think you might meet mixed feelings here, mate. In my humble opinion, whilst the service was a celebration of life, to me and I'm sure many others, it was as close as we were going to get to a funeral service and is therefore sacrosanct. We all have our own personal, individual and private feelings about the day. I, personally, think they should remain just that and not be a "magazine feature". However, that is purely my view and I stand to be corrected if the community disagree.
  8. Yup. You're one of them. That dude with the bloody Forester that gets everywhere is the other My take is - did ITV make money out of showing this? YES. Should they have? NO. Any revenue gained through advertising before, during and after the screening of this programme should have been donated to the Jerviswood charities. To not do so is using a tragedy to make money. Note this is my personal opinion and although I now have an official SIDC role, this opinion is not that of the SIDC.
  9. Very kind words and thank you for them. The video is great, however it isn't the full "Pedal To The Metal" that was shown on ITV4 yesterday. A mate recorded it to PC for me and gave me a DVD recording of it tonight and although I've not watched it all yet, it's an hour long and contains some of the post tragic event footage and tributes we saw yesterday. Two people have asked me for copies of this. Strictly it's in breach of copyright for me to distribute it, but f*** it. Make a donation to the Jerviswood Charities and I'll sort DVD copies to those who want them. Let them sue me...
  10. From Colin's website: Speaking on behalf of the McRae family, Alister McRae said: "It's been a very difficult time, not just for us, but for both the other families as well. To have received as much support as we have through the website, cards and flowers, is overwhelming and pretty amazing." "Colin will be remembered for what he was; an extremely gifted driver, a great person and a good friend to a lot of people." END Additional Notes: Official crowd estimates indicate that over 20,000 people attended the outdoor service in Lanark High Street, relayed from the service inside St Nicholas Church. The crowd overflowed the High Street (capacity 20,000) into St Leonard’s Street and Bannatyne Street. 750 family members, friends and guests filled the church to capacity which suggests that well in excess of 21,000 people were in Lanark for the day – a town which ‘normally’ has a population of around 8,250. Amongst those attending the service (in no particular order) were Mr I Kudoh / Mr S Sagaya from Subaru in Japan, Damon Hill, Lord March, Malcolm and Matthew Wilson and Marcus Gronholm (Ford World Rally Team), Andrew Cowan, Dario and Marino Franchitti, Luis Moya, Allan McNish, John Cleland, Jason Plato, Christian Loriaux, Sven Quandt (BMW), Guy Frequelin (Citroen World Rally Team), Didier Auriol, Mark and Paul Stewart, Derek Ringer, Nicky Grist, Phil Mills, Ian Grindrod, David Lapworth (Prodrive), Fred Gallagher, Stefan Bengtsson, Ronan Morgan, Andrew Nesbitt, Damien Crawford, Kris Meeke, Bill Gwynne, Terry Kaby, Paul Di Resta, John Richardson (MSA), Tony Mason, Mike Broad, Ken Wood, Brian Lyall, David Gillanders – and many, many more.
  11. An incredibly moving day. A phenomenal turn-out and mention must go to those who came from afar - Wales, Teeside, Cumbria, Elgin, Aberdeen and the others I've undoubtedly missed. With my steed being a Hawkeye, I was relatively near the back of the convoy. In front of me lay one of the most impressive sights I have ever seen. Like a multi-coloured snake glinting in the afternoon Lanarkshire sun, it was Subaru after Subaru as far as the eye could see - and even further. Many times I've called my sanity into question taking on the SIDC website project. Today cast every single doubt I had aside. I felt incredibly proud to be part of this Club. The service was, I thought, very appropriate. Heartbreaking, but raised a few smiles and laughs too. The home videos of Johnny were soul-destroying. For those who weren't there, Ari Vatanen gave a very moving speech and included the following poem which Colin had given to Alison to explain the reason why he did what he did so well. I think it's probably something we could all take something from: ONLY A PERSON WHO RISKS IS FREE Author Unknown To laugh is to risk appearing the fool. To weep is to risk appearing sentimental. To reach for another is to risk involvement. To expose your ideas, your dreams, before a crowd is to risk their loss. To love is to risk not being loved in return. To live is to risk dying. To believe is to risk despair. To try is to risk failure. But risks must be taken, because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing. The people who risk nothing, do nothing, have nothing, are nothing. They may avoid suffering and sorrow, but they cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love, live. Chained by their attitudes they are slaves; they have forfeited their freedom. Only a person who risks is free. My own personal thanks go to Grant who, despite his own grieving for his Idol, has been the driving force in everything that's happened since the tragic events of 15th September, to Glasgow RO Ally-b for his co-ordination of today event and his liaison with Strathclyde Police, to Strathclyde Police themselves who have been fantastic throughout - allowing us to leave our tributes at Jerviswood; the incredibly moving gesture of the officers on duty saluting the coffins as they left Jerviswood and mostly for today where not only did we enjoy some good banter and laughs with the officers assigned to us, but the way the force has worked with us and accomodated us. Most thanks, however, must go to the McRae family for allowing today to take place and allowing us to pay our respects. After three funerals I'm sure the last thing they needed was another service and another reminder of what has happened as they attempt to come to terms with this tragedy and somehow rebuild their lives. The fact they did shows their strength as a family. I'll be returning the site logos back to normal tomorrow. I will, however, be replacing the image of the "classic" Scoob in the SIDC logo with an image of L555 BAT as a permanent memorial.
  12. To keep things tidy, all comments etc in this topic please. I'll merge any new topics started with this one.
  13. Name added. Even with the inevitable drop-outs that will happen from the list this is still a remarkable number of people and cars and shows just how much respect Colin had within the community; especially as we have people travelling considerable distances to be part of this. Drive safe folks and we'll see you at Happendon services tomorrow. If you're without a ribbon, ask when you get there as there are loads to go around. Somebody will point you in the right direction to get one!
  14. The McRae family have announced the following: Arrangements have now been put in place regarding the Service of Celebration for the lives of Colin and Johnny. Location: High Street, Lanark. Date: Sunday 30th September 2007. Time: 4 pm. The Service will be relayed from St. Nicholas Church, Castlegate out onto the High Street in Lanark, which will be closed to traffic for the duration. Please note that Strathclyde Police have asked, in view of the numbers expected to attend, that people leave PLENTY of time to ensure that that they can arrive and access the venue before the commencement of the Service. Parking and shuttle buses will be controlled by the Police. All who would like to attend will be most welcome. If you intend attending this, please add your name to this forum topic. We have been asked by Strathclyde Police to liaise with them regarding numbers as traffic is expected to be heavy. Watch the Forums for further details.
  15. C'mon then - where's the stories?!
  16. I've actually had complaints about virtually every thread in here being hijacked and turned into drivel and it's something I intended addressing, but obviously the tragic Colin McRae news has put everything else on the back burner. As things stand, it appears cliquey and doesn't make it easy for newcomers to make their debut or way onto this Forum. You have a chat thread for chat and banter - which is absolutely fine, but almost every topic appears to turn into message "ping-pong" between the same few users. Forums are not the same as a chat room. That's what MSN, AOL Messenger etc exist for. I've mentioned to Phil about adding real-time chat functionality to the site and he pushed back on it - I'm still working on him on that front Please, keep banter and chat to your chat topic and leave the other topics ON-topic.
  17. I too, had to swallow a MAJOR lump in the throat when I read that father and son made their final journey together, but I did have to smile when I read that the song played when people left the Crematorium was The Proclaimers - I'm On My Way. I think that speaks loads for the strength of the family that in the face of such tragedy they can maintain an element of humour.
  18. Ok - I'll let you off Liked the f.u.d.d. - exceptional effort considering fudd isn't even in the sweary filter
  19. My Scottish Scoobies Fleece that I managed to get white emulsion on has had one boil wash tonight and it's shifted 90% of the paint. On it's second boil wash now. Probably be about the size of a postage stamp by the time it's done, but at least it'll be clean. Oh, and count me in on the kilt front too. My original plans did involve wearing the kilt this weekend, but that was when I was planning to go to the Scooby Ball. Never, at the time, thought I'd be wearing it under such tragic circumstances
  20. After calling me a fudd - yeah, right!
  21. Got a mate recording it to PC and burning it to DVD for me. Will sort you a copy.
  22. All sorted
