I think Mr Tradesman's car is a Version 3 and thus cannot be ScoobyECUed or chipped by any means. Options are limited to replacement ECU like PowerFC/GEMS/Autronic etc or a Piggyback unit like the Apexi S-AFC or dastek Unichip PowerFC can be obtained for about 650 fitted and mapped or 480 if fitted and mapped by me........kidding Version 3 is rather aggresively mapped from the factory so i would hold off on the Decat until a few monitoring devices are btained and fitted. First would be a Knocklink to make sure all is well inside the engine and second would be an AFR device to make sure she is not running lean. After you fit these and the results are favourable then i would go for a decat. Even after fitting decat i would keep an eye on the monitoring equipment to make sure she is running within acceptable tolerances after the Cat has been removed.

Way too many to explain why a thicker oil is more suited to these engines than the manufacturers recommended grade. Please trust me on this one 10w/40 is way better than 5w/30 and if he used the thicker grade then maybe it wont need a top up when checked
