Yep, to be fair.. I have got Tanabe Fully Adjustable Coilovers on the Integra and they are pretty compliant, however, the damping is set quite soft for the road. One of my friends has Tein SuperStreets and they are a little harder than the Tanabe, but WAY more driveable and useable than another friend that bought some cheaper coilovers on an almost identical car which are crazy stiff. I dont doubt that things like AST and Exe-TC are really quality bits of kit that 'do-it-all', but they are another stage up price-wise again from things like Tein Basics, Apex etc. Cheers, Grant

If the suspension on the SpecG was to go the same way then I'd be trying to buy some adjustable shocks to go with my lowering springs. IMO, for a fast road car, some quality top (damping) adjustable shocks and slight lowering springs are a better option than coilovers which tend to be a bit more harsh and stiff over bumpy b-roads. I remember pricing/researching this when I had a Classic and I was all set for an adjustable KYB shock and eibach spring set-up once I moved onto the suspension mods. I'm not sure if the same setup is available for a Hawkeye. Cheers, Grant

Depending on the driving you do, you probably would see an increase over 350miles in a Ka... most of my driving in that car is town work, so on a more open road, constant and easy 400mile+ wouldnt be a problem at all. I leave it anywhere, use one space at the supermarket and dont worry about someone opening their door onto mine, the back seats have gone because I have a Golden Labrador and he wasn't gonna be too happy being folded up in the normal boot and the back seats are pointless anyway as I sit so far back. Plus, it really is fun to drive. Cheers, Grant

To be honest, if you have a local dealer that knows what they're doing.. then I dont see a problem using them for routine service work providing the price isn't too different from a specialist, however, I dont have that luxury and phoned Subaru UK to confirm the status of my warranty if I was to take it somewhere like Hypertech/AWD/Checkpoint for services in future. They sent me a letter confirming that as long as genuine Subaru parts and either recommended grade or higher than recommended grade oils were used, then there would be no problems if a warranty claim was submitted to Subaru. Brilliant news, thought you had refurb'd the mag TE37's in black... good to see they're still the way they should be. The car looks amazing, think I've said it before but its probably my favorite car in Scottish Scoobies. Cheers, Grant

Looks lovely, specially with the new bits added.. what did you use to lower it?? (Dont say lowering springs.. I mean what make ) I'd probably go for black writing if you're wanting to put decals on the fog covers, would tie in nicely with the tints and black wheels I think. ...now you've started, the modding bug never stops, a cheeky wee Gus The Bus backbox wouldn't look out of place with the OE-style look and it'd release a wee bit of the burble too. Cheers, Grant

I run a Ford Ka as a daily driver... its pretty big in the front, the rear seats and boot are crap though!! It cost me 80quid for the year to insure Fully Comp, does about 350-400miles to a 40quid tank of fuel, fun to drive, handles well (bit of bodyroll though) and parts are ridiculously cheap being a Ford. Cheers, Grant

Never good having a bump, but the damage doesnt look tooooo bad. The accident wont show up on the cars record, only shows up if its an Insurance Write Off. Cheers, Grant

Fire up a spec list of the car the way it stands just now... and it'll be easier to suggest ways/parts to upgrade. Cheers, Grant

HKS is that wee bit different to the 'normal' whoosh sound you get... its got a kinda metallic ping running through the whoosh at the same time, I'm not mad for Dumpvalves but have had a few over the years, and the only one I liked the sound of was the HKS. Cheers, Grant

Pretty sure you're gonna be better going from underneath as IIRC the lambda isn't at the top of the downpipe like it is on the Classics. Cheers, Grant

Cars almost offski mate... just deciding which is the best option now. Will be a wee while until I get another Scoob to try and improve the PB I think. Cheers, Grant

Yep, surely I'm not the only tool rolling around without a spoiler though........ everyone knows the fastest Imprezas have a big wing on the back anyway!! Cheers, Grant

If you can justify the extra cost, then people seems to be getting comfortable 400+ on the MD321. As far as I understand, on a 2.0 application, you are looking at the MD321H as the MD321T is more suited to bigger capacity engines. If I was keeping my car, then I'd rather spend the extra few hundred quid on the MD321-series turbo than the 20g because I would end up looking for more and prefer to do it properly the first time round which saves money in the long run. Should be fine dropping off a WRX for JW to work on.... if you'd dropped off a Newage STi, then it might have come back with a 5-speed conversion on the sly. Cheers, Grant

Would have just been easier to just say you might be planning future mods, so this was a precaution that was being taken now while the car was at Hypertech... haha, would have saved all of this?! No need to be secretive about mods, reminds me of the olden days on here when some of the guys were looking to smash the 400bhp barrier with 'standard' cars. Cheers, Grant
-
Thanks Peter... its not bad considering the relatively small mod list I've got, my aim was to beat my previous PB in it, so I'm happy now. Jim, thats a quick Buggy you've got there mate, its defo got the go to match the no nonsense looks. Big fan of it. Cheers, Grant

Finally Fitted My Mcrae Gathering Sticker
RS Grant replied to scoobykev's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Yep, probably was me, used to get a lot of looks in that car with the graphics on it... that car had stickers on and off it about 3 or 4 times over the time that me and my friend had it. Cheers, Grant -

I was always fine when I had the Castrol Graphics on the GT4... at the time, I was told that south of the border you had to have a line through the number, but up in Scotland it was ok to have the graphics on it. The rear lights weren't a favorite of mine anyway, but now with the graphics, they've gotta go standard mate. But I do like the look. Cheers, Grant -

Thats you told JW!!! Looks like a nice base for a few tasteful mods. Cheers, Grant

Glad you had a good experience with Callum and the guys up there mate.. Cheers, Grant

IMO, the Evo looked a bit understeery at points when powering out of the corners... and the Impreza looked lairy as fook. I'm not a massive fan of the looks of either cars, but I'd take the Impreza purely for the fun it looks like you can have in it. Cheers, Grant
