About ross78

  1. I telephoned the dealer this morning to enquire where the car was. They gave me some figures over the phone reguarding trade trade in etc however their figures and mine didnt agree so i'll need to put this idea on hold for a few months at least & hope i can find another impreza at this sort of price. The car supermarket thats selling the car said the car was first registered in Cyprus and that the car is UK spec. Would that make a difference when i went to insure the car? Or is this just their way of selling cars at a cheaper price ie registering them in another country? I'm gutted as i was starting to get my hopes built up! I'll just need to start saving some cash to put down hopefully have 1 by the end of the year!
  2. Currently i'm getting 38.9mpg with my 07 plate VW Passat 4motion tdi. So far i'd say the best car i've ever owned/driven was an 04 plate honda civic type-r. I'm seriously tempted to go for this impreza as i reckon i could get it for more or less what i'm paying just now per month. Plus it'll be more fun than my Passat. Should i go for it guys?
  3. Ok thanks for your help. I'm sure it said on the reviews i saw including fifth gear via youtube, that the new shape impreza wrx 2009 models had the same turbo fitted to them as the 1 thats fitted to the sti models as standard. Unlike the 2008 model which had less bhp.
  4. I was surprised when i saw the price as well. My current cars (07 plate VW Passat 4motion tdi) going in this week to get the clutch repaired under warranty on thursday this week otherwise i'd be away just now checking out the Impreza. After looking at some youtube clips this morning i noticed the 09 plate wrx i'm talking about doesn't have the sti spoiler - it has a smaller version fitted does this mean it could be a 2008 model? Am i right in thinking that theres a difference in bhp between the 2008 model & the 2009 model?
  5. Hi first of all as yet i don't own a Subaru. I was looking online through the main dealers (not subaru) mainly as i have a trade in. Anyway i had spotted a cracking blue 56 plate 2.5 wrx wagon with 16,000 miles for round about £11k then while checking other garages i found an 09 plate 2.5 wrx with 6000 miles on it for £13k. This to me is a better buy as for a start as the cars still covered with the manufacturers warranty & the new shapes really grown on me. I was looking for something a little cheaper than £13k but this is getting more & more tempting the more i think about it. Is this a bargain at £13k?
  6. I don't know to me it doesn't look right something's missing!
  7. Has anyone seen a cracking Subaru for £10000 at a dealers that'll take a trade in?
  8. Well what does an STI have that the WRX doesn't or vice versa?
  9. Thanks for the replies and PM's thats most of my questions answered.
  10. Just a few more questions guys: Am i right in thinking that i should run the car on Super Unleaded (V-Power) etc? What will the road tax for a year increase to when the government increase it? How impressive is a standard Impreza as the large majority of the ones on the road have been modified in some way? How big a difference is there between the 260bhp and the rest of the other engine power out puts? What engine is best? I guess the last question will only be answered by getting off my back side and actually going for a test drive but any comments will be appreciated. And finally what is the difference between an Sti and a WRX ? Rally Fever i've had a look at your car and although it's a cracking car it's out off my price range sadly. I'll probably be going down the route of a dealer as i've got another car to get rid off.
  11. Cheers guys. I actually have an oil burner just now (Vectra sri 150) and i now know what to expect if i decide to trade it in for an Impreza cheers. Just got to find the right one now. I also know how these forums can end up costing a fortune in mods but i'll manage to keep that to myself- what the mrs doesn't know won't hurt her.
  12. Thanks for taking time to reply.I'm going to start looking for one i think. Cheers
  13. Hello everybody, thanks for taking time to look at this. I'm considering treating myself to a second hand Subaru for my 30th b'day i'll probably be looking to spend £10-11000 depending on what i get for my current car in a trade in. What are the service intervals? Roughly how much for a service at a dealer or independent garge? What sort of mileage should i expect to get if driven sensibly? What is the capacity of the fuel tank and roughly how many miles will i get out of a tank if driven sensibly? (My last car was a 04 plate Civic Type R it had a 50 litre tank if my memory serves me right and i couldn't get more than 320 miles out of it). Anyway if anyone can be bothered answering my question i would appreciate it and maybe even by myself an Impreza. Thanks
