  1. i would try removing other bolt holding spot on, if it snaps too all the better. behind the platic where the fog sits there is a very thin metal square which has nuts welded to it. it will probably be rusty. once all bolts are out it should lift up a bit and then fall off. you could then get a second hand one or use just normal nuts/bolts with some large penny washers. i got new ones cause im a fussy git. dab of copper grease on reassembly to prevent it happening again.
  2. aye nae bother. might be handy having either 1/4 or 3/8 socket set for getting in about the indicator retaining bolt iirc.
  3. a horrible surprise to come home to. i dont think i would leave my car with anybody. at the very least they would have only been covered third party and even if they drove canny there is no telling what other drivers may have done. good luck on the job front.
  4. if its just the side walls then maybe removing inner lip would suffice but that could lead to rust issues if not done right. do you not have adjustable suspension now? cant say im that often four up.
  5. looking good min just watch oot for yer neighbour. i dont think they like their car much
  6. nice one wayne. now if i was to have an earlier car again and looking for a wee bit extra, i would be thinking scoobyecu and downpipe.
  7. fookin hell. at least your ok. its the time and effort which goes in.
  8. might be worth trying just noo. if it was coolant sensor its maybe cooled down again noo. will leave a code eventually if its it. you will have same problem starting again though if you drive anywhere and stop though. bar that or the crank sensor im oot of ideas and somebody mare techy will need to take over. ohh just remebered you have simtek so i dinnae ken onything about that.
  9. think its crank sensor next to give spark. funny foo its was fine one minute and nae the next. another possibility could be coolant sensor hence why its started when cold but being funny once warmed up. ony bother afore starting.
  10. much prefer the facelift min. hopefully wont be covering folks windscreens with big dolops of oil now.
  11. cant belive your clutch hasnt arrived yet alan. i got mine more or less next day from graham goode. first time always takes a bitty longer. top tip would be stock up on the spinach.
  12. bell mouth downpipe and decat will make it more noisy. having said that it all depends on the backbox you intend to use. i have full decat but have a scoobysport back box so its pretty sedate comparatively. have you checked your current system to see if it is still made in sections? its just less reputable custom exhaust places can do away with flanges etc.
  13. just looked at all the pics. cals brakes bit bloody tight if you ask me. imagine full left lock.
  14. you can maybe feel a slight difference but dont get too excited. andyf recommends them so thats good enough for me. silicon pipes make fitting/removing intercooler a lot easier. also worth doing as original plastic ones can fail, so a bit of future proofing.
  15. looks like standard ones. must be a bit tight as you can see mid point that passes through strut down beside caliper. i have same calipers on my car but hoses screw onto caliper as apposed to banjo bolt. i got new stainless lines from godspeed, very reasonably priced. perhaps he could supply alternative fitting to go on to caliper and his lines as these are the same he uses for his brembo kit. his lines have just the correct amount of slack in them.
  16. so yer still driving about makin scooby noises to yer sel then? still nae bad for a wee run around, ony flamage yet?
  17. was it the shell at south end of livi. i filled up there and withdrew cash from machine outside too. i havent noticed anything out of ordinary on my account. i did use a debit card as apposed to credit card thing, if it makes any difference. by the number of replies of folk saying they have been scammed specifically at shell im surprised they havent been informed or investigated. its shocking, i would happily boycot shell from now on.
  18. if grooves are still there, the discs will still be over minimum thickness spec. i had a slight vibration with my front brakes last year. a clean and regrease of caliper bores did the trick. i would have expected uneven worn pads though if it was the same in your case. perhaps your getting pad deposists on discs, with no using brakes the same in icy conditions.
  19. i would think after 4 years discs have served their life span. then again its dependant on mileage and use. done much mileage? if in doubt measure the thickness of discs. if they were grooved discs are the grooves still visible?
  20. **** sake min. one of the cleanest classics ive seen too. hope who ever did it gets their comeuppance.
  21. i rolled quite a few times in my last scoob down a bit of a revene and was fine with standard belt. subarus seem to have a fairly strong shell to start off with, cage would be better like. had less of an off in an old fordy and the a pillers buckled and roof collapsed quite easily. i dont think youd have time to do any ducking etc. if leaving tarmac at high speed. welshos comments about not seeing at junctions without fiddling with harness would definatley put me off.
  22. ive heard of true anti-lag eating exhaust valves. while pops and bangs are different to the real deal, i would be cautious. maybe some of the gurus could dismiss or confirm? richs car is getting heads replaced due to disappearing valves.
  23. nice photos. looks like a good turn out and not too wintery either.
  24. he will be forking out for new dampers/springs after that and may need chassis welding too. lucky struts didnt go though the bonnet.
