  1. ah fair enogh. and i agree, the lexus style lights are god awful
  2. yeah my mate said it was a do-er on the track, but down the lanes here is was ****, the 306 d turbo was faster! well almost. b roads rule!!!!!
  3. id have to consider an evo, mates got a 350z, mates got one, really nice car and with 280bhp to just the rears its certainly fun enough, although hes on about a type r now after we swapped for the weekend. he had a civic type r and on our back roads here it was useless and used almost as much petrol as the sccob. xr4x4? haha
  4. Hi nice looking car mate. just wondering (im not having a go) why have you blackened the rear lights??? the sti clear ones look so good??? or was it an wrx type ra with orange lights that youve made look like an sti??? v5 should be on a red engine. just curious its a lovely colour and looks nice a clean and striaght
  5. i built my own rally car. it only took an hour..... it was however a clio diesel for a night event and the build process involved bolting some lamps on the front and sticking a nav lamp about the passengers head and then tighening the h/brake cable and duck taping the h/brake release button in. needless to say we didnt finsh the event haha seriously tho, fair play that a hell of alot of work, but yeah why not just start with a shell???? is there something in the regs about it or will subaru only sell them whole cars????
  6. WOMEN: Don't waste energy faking orgasms. Most men couldn't care less anyway and you could use the saved energy to Hoover the house afterwards. is now my status on facebook, should go down well haha
  7. erm....................................... ive been on here just over a year, and ive always found it very helpfull and friendly. ive never been to a meet cos i live fricking miles from anywhere. although have been thinking about it for this year since i got my minty type r. (any excuse for a drive) and im dont know anyone personaly on here, but its the best scooby related forum. im not sure what this guys problem is?????????? if he cant take losing an argument or a bit of piss taking then i think we shouldnt be too bothered if he's throw all his toys out the pram. and someone let him know dummy are 3 for a quid down wilkinsons, if he keeps spitting his out he might need some new ones. tim
  8. ok fair enough, uk classics are still all 50;50 though.
  9. all uk classics are 50:50 hence the 'symetrical' all wheel drive is what ive always thought. and been told. ( on pretty good authority) my first wrx (my93) didnt have a lsd at the back.. the type r has the dccd and lsd front and rear
  10. from my understanding,f if you dont have the dccd, then you have 50/50, having had a few other impreza's before the type r with dccd i can say i found this to be the case. the type r is so much more tail happy, if you think is is good or bad its up to you, driving roundabouts on the throttle is interesting. explaining yourself to plod even more interesting. (pembrokeshire is a very small county, the conversation went something like plod: (walking up to car) 'i suppose you think that was impressive sir/' me : yeah dave plod: oh jesus its you, **** off home will you. hahahah tim
  11. yeah it takes a while to get used to it. for expample doing some donuts of gravel. if its fully open or auto it will do a couple of nice spins then it will start sending pwer to the frount and it pulls you out. if you move it forward one click it keeps it at 65/35 ot 70/30 or whatever the figure is, and you can do some nice doughnuts. if its fully forward or closed it tends to grip and go, now trasfer that theory onto driving downa loose surface back road and it gets interesting.... driving round sweeping bends and tight ones it all gets very hectic, first 6/8 weeks of type r ownership was interesing to say the least.
  12. my sti type r is 70/30 to the back. the more you close the diff the more it forces drive to the front. normal open road driving with the diff open gives me 70 to the rear. dccd doesnt let you sent more to the rear. it lets you take it away from the rear. normal dry tarmac condishions you should leave it open at 70/30 as there is not enough slip at the wheels to allow for the power being sent to the front and it will put extra wear on the centre diff, where as on a loose surface like gravel or snow you can roll it forward. and it will keep forcing power it really make a big differance. through the twisty gravel lanes its vary tail happy, until you roll the dccd forward and then the car just grips and goes, but looks alot less spectacular a bit off topic i know as you dont have a dccd, but yeah normal wrxs and sti's without a dccd are a 50/50 hence symetrical all wheel drive, as it its the same/ taking into acount what iain says about the torqe split.
  13. "No ... nearside, middle and outside - middle and outside for overtaking!!!!" to be picky i think youll find you should refer to them as lanes 1, 2 and 3 because what happens if its a 2 lane or 4 lane stretch of m'way??? how do you fit nearside middle and outside into that? nearside and offside are used for normal 2 lane highways p.s. i bet emo didnt see this coming we he had his rant. (and yes i know it emoe, but a picture of him in stripy socks is funny) :rotfl:
  14. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/3694201.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/bristol/7171154.stm so im sorry but driving well below the speed limit is an offence and i know those are two extreme examples. but they are both examples of driving below the limit "I may not. Indeed, I may wish to drive at a speed lower than the limit - again, that is up to me. If you are not happy with that then overtake me - I am not bothered." im not wishing to offend but that statement just smacks of the typical bad driver, in the way they presume the are correct, cant possibly be wrong. i got that impression from the "i am not bothered" - you should be if your driving along well below the limit, you will cause people to become frustrated and perform risky overtaking manouvers the offence is "driving without reasonable consideration" and it covers failing to make proper progress. and it it really really really gets my goat
  15. looking good mate, mines due for the treatment, it stinking. what wheels are those mate them look sweet
  16. hi i couldnt see a price?? if its over £2k for a 93 its too much. its a buyers market. also ignore the 'subaru turbo gasket' it was prob needed was exhaust has been changed. they cost next to nothing so its not really a selling point, its like saying 'new magic tree' has he got paper evidence for the water pump change? also all jdm wrx's had an alloy bonnet the light weight model is the type ra which is much more stripped out etc, so dont let that fool you either. the drop links are not pricey and can be done by anyone at home, make me wonder why this guy hasnt done them? what else hasnt he bothered with?? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hardrace-rear-steel-...A1%7C240%3A1318
  17. but tesco dont make their own oil, its just branded as tesco, its the same oil as halfords/many motor factors branded oil and all comes from a refinery. while working on a refinery the oil went out to various diffent compaines and was all sold at different prices. all you need is the correct viscostiy sythetic/semi/mineral for your car, the brand means nothing. anyone that says this 10w/40 oil is better than that 10w/40 oil has just been taken in by the marketing men. any oil sold in this country has to conform to a standard (bsi?) so one that says castrol or whatever is no better than one that doesnt have posh name. at the end of the day it all sqashed dead stuff
  18. oil is oil just get the right viscosity 5w/30 is fine oil in a tesco can came from the same place as oil in a castrol can. sorry if im short but im getting bored with everyone in this country talking and debating oils. we'll be as bad as the yanks next, if i see that stupid castrol advert with the two cars on rollers and one blowing up and not 'maintaining maximum horsepower' again im going to kick my pictocube/jumping box very hard
  19. http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=125710 check out the advice on there. its gonna either be you box or clutch, maybe gear linkage is bent. this happend to my and it put a strain on 3rd that killed the box in my old wrx
  20. i agree that sounds a hell of a lot of money. get urself a low milage box of the bay,(400-600) get clutch kit from a motor factors, (get a good one) (250) get a local non main dealer garage to stick it all int (250) all in all less than a grand. im now very friendly with my local independant garage, call in twice a week and make a brew, xmas cards and pub visists etc. so when the box expired in my old wrx i got a box and a clutch and they swapped it all over for £100. cost me alot more in tea tho everyone shoud go make friends with their local mechanics, the free advice, cheap labour and general fun times you have calling by is a win win situation/
  21. Very very sad news. I cant see the other teams sticking with it now. before the end of the year i can see ford withdrawing too.
  22. isnt this at the same place as place as the ken block video?
  23. any engine up to 97 will go in and should as far as i know go with the gearbox. you need to make sure if you change the box that it suits the diff and vise versa
  24. simple, if its and sto of this age, it should be a red engine. did it has a built by sti decal on the pulley covers? i think it looks like a wrx type r
  25. you can have as many beams as you want. as long as they as stated above operate with the main beams. i think it used to be law or maybe a myth that you can only have four forward facing lamps, and although this is still the casr for road rallies it doesnt apply to road cars. i checked all this out that when i put a lamp pod on my old car, was told by my local police that as long as they all go out when you dip its fine.
