almost there...................... wrx is the jdm base turbo model. sti is a jdm too but with more power etc you can get type ra in both sti and wrx trim. its a lighter model with less creature comforts and closer ratio gears/diffs designed with rallying for real in mind type r is a 2 door sti but again with shorter gearing than an sti or wrx and thinner glass, less sound proofing etc like an ra to make it lighter loads of specail models like has been said your rb5s, 555 v ltd, etc etc if your looking at sti's your going to need to be able to tell your v3 v4 v 5 etc apart. really its very confusiong for a newbie lookign at it, and really the best advice would be to get a mate or someone who know scoobys inside out to advise / have look with you. of course if you spot any online post em up here and the guys are normally very good at spotting a lemon.

Gave the scooby a bit of a clean today, thought id share the results. The front bumper is a 22b style on after the orignal one was all scuzzed, but it does need paint, can any recomend somewhere to get some (maybe online) as the only local place i could get paint is halfrauds and im not going near the place! Erm right went to change the oil on the scooby on sunday, the filter i have from the local motor factors is very small. like sed to go on mu classic wrx. i now have an sti type r v4. the oild filter is bigger. the local motor factors only list one filter for all imprezas, 2.0 weather its classic bug blob wrx or sti, but mine is deffo bigger. what the crack where can i get one for mine? cheers tim

Right my bad, sorry danny d and who ever started the thread, what i was saying applies only to private firms like you may encounter in morrisons car park etc, i was convinced i was right. so i as asked someone again on traffic answers .co. uk and was told otherwise, now ive come back here and seen why danny was so convinced i was wrong, oh well now i look like a muppet........... but danny do you agree that if it was a ticket from a private firm then its a different story??? It has worked for me on several occasions, even with local authroities, perhaps living in rural west wales has advantages as the councils round here cant tell their a*** from their elbow? cheers, and, neck wound in!

also ive just looked again. it has v4 seats as only the shoulders seem to be red. on later cars the shoulders, top of the headrest, and lower bolsters all had red on them tim

take who to court? do you not get the point, if you say it wasnt you, they cannot take the registered keeper to court, THE PARKING FINE IS AGAINST THE DRIVER NOT THE OWNER, AND AS IVE SAID UNLESS ITS FROM A PLOICE TRAFFIC WARDEN THEY CANT MAKE THE KEEPER SAY WHO WAS DRIVING

COUPLE OF POINTS as you have said, if it really a 2000 model why does it have a 1997 front bumper? just to help, the 1997 v4 sti type had the facelift front lights but the older bumper with the 3 holes on the sides like this one has. when they went to v5 sti it had the newer style bumper so either this as had an older bumper put on it. or somewhere along the the import line someone as got an older car on a new plate. or something more dodgy, u need to get an good answer for why it has a v4 front end. also 6000? my v4 with 30k on it was more than a grand cheaper, from an importer with a warrenty hope this helps tim

thats the whole point, they CANT unless its a ticket from a police traffic wardern, you dont have to say who was driving, so who are they going to take it futher against????????? they have no- one to take a case against. as the parking infraction is commited by the driver not the registered keeper.

Local authorities don't have traffic wardens. They may have traffic inforcement officers or parking officers or whatever they choose to call them. the only 'real' traffic wardens are police traffic wardens to give them their title. they issuse tickets for offices on the highway and parking bays, 99% of car park fines are either local authority or privite parking firms, and these are very easy to fight as they relate to a civil matter not criminal one. as ive said its only tickets PTW which have the power to ask and compell you to tell them who was driving. as ive tried to stress, you admit your driving by contesting, and if that fails you are responsable for the fine. you dont admit you were driving, and they have noone to fine, as the offence is committed by the driver of the car not the owner.

one the 2 times ive had private firms trying to fine me and the 3 time ive had local authority tickets ive ignored the ticket, UNTILL they write to you then i right back saying cant possibly say who was driving at that time and therefore to whom the tickets applies to. I got this advice from www.traffic-answers.co.uk , where some helpful plods etc are happy to give advice. As ive said abouve they have no right to force to tell you who was driving, and the "contract" that exists in car parks is between the driver and the car park owner. not the registered keeper. just becuase you dont grasp the concept doesnt mean its bad advice, danny d and stum450n soon as you write disputing it, you admit you where the drvier. "Police Traffic Wardens(a dying breed!) issue tickets which can be pursued for non-payment in the criminal courts. Council Parking Attendants issue fines which are enforceable through the civil courts under certain legislation relating to the de-criminalised parking schemes. Private Parking Firms can issue penalty notices, but they really have no teeth if you don't pay them. They can get your details from the DVLA and send all kinds of threatening letters, but in real terms they mean b******s. So in terms of "fair parking" you are at risk of criminal prosecution if you fail to respond to notices about police-issued parking fines, but council and private tickets are fair game. You do however run the risk of being stopped in certain operations if you haven't paid your council parking fines" So take your choice mate, all i said was how id deal with it if its not a police/traffic issued ticket

thats mint then, if it was me, id ignore the ticket, and then when or even if they write to you as the registered keeper, write back saying 'would be impossible to say who was driving as it was ages ago and you lend your to various people on a regular basis'. they may write back to try to scare you in to admitting it, or forcing you to give them details of who it was, even threaten with court ete etc, but as there is no proof you were the driving they dont have a leg to stand on, as parking tickets from councils apply to the driver not the car, and they have no right to say who it was. Just a qucik point, before you write to them arguing the case, if the ticket is from a local authority or a private car park they have no right what so ever to demand you tell them who was driving, as apposed to a ticked from plod or a traffic warden. If you ever get caught with a ticket from a local authority or a private car park, write to them and say that several people used your car that day and you have no idea to whom the ticket referes. end of, they have no right to insist you tell them who was driving, and unlike speeding ticket etc it doesnt come back to registered keeper. Ive done this many times.................... best thing to do is ignore it, and when they write to you write back saying sorry cant help, could have been anyone number of people. where as if your write contesting it, youve admitted you where responsable should they decide to push the case and it comes down against you
