Habit I've got in to is last thing I do after the bonnets been open is go back and re-check. Bad experience learnt from : Quite a fright when the bonnet flies all the way open !! Was quite a few years ago, below zero and had been snowing in days leading up to then, about 8pm at night, reckon 50mph - huge bang and it's just like if the headlights go out ! Luckily was on a straight bit of road and could just see through gap at base of windscreen to get the car in to the side of the road. My mothers car and she was in passenger seat - supposedly first time she'd heard me swear like that ! My Dad's fault as he'd been checking oil/water that day !

Oh yes, that is lovely looking. Very impressed indeed ! Have fun.

Lovely looking machine. Was out looking at bikes, not for me unfortunately, on Friday and saw a couple of these...nice in the black too. Enjoy.
-
Absolutely brilliant That'll appear on a comedy sketch one day !!
-
Nice work as per usual Mike. Must've been cold, few shaky pics in there . Rotten weather does take a lot of the enjoyment out of it doesn't it ! Was working on the wifes car yesterday and just as I went to top up with some Werkstatt it started raining - "ah f~*# it" I think were the words, left for another day ! Nice vehicle by the way, like the Impreza in black (why I have one) and the RB320 does look aggressive !
-
Absolutely, they are nice seats. Nice buy.

Loads to scroll through there....quite enjoyed that wee read though ! Hat off to you though for the amount of work you do on your own rather than paying someone to do it for you, I don't have that much confidence in my own abilities that's for sure ! Now, after the oil change, is that it for a while ??

Never had Toyo's on, but I had similar thoughts on my Yoko Parada's in the wet when thought they were meant to be good all-rounders, but I think it feels like surfaces can be just a bit slippy at the moment which I've noticed when driving the other car (well it is in the Lanarkshire countryside!). I have heard of giving tyres 500miles before noticing a difference, perhaps just a bit more time needed ?

http://www.litchfieldimports.co.uk/subaru_....asp?shopmenu=2 Nice spec, but for the price not sure if I'd be looking at an Impreza ??

Also have a read through this..... http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/guides_engine.html Don't forget to cover up things like your intercooler, alternator, battery and obvious showing electric plugs. When you hose off have it at a fairly light setting - don't blast it with the jet wash as you'll be forcing water in where it shouldn't go ! Make sure you protect after the cleaning, you've basically stripped away any previous protection (mucky or not). Said it before Colzo, that was a work of art !!

Have to agree, the black Rotas suit your car better. Lookin good. If nothing else now when you look out the windows at the car it'll be a cleaner view !!
-
Nice work as usual Mike. Your end finish is cracking every time !! Main thing is the owners are pleased with your work every time.
-
Sounds like swirls if you think it is just surface (need pics to be sure). You thought about a decent aggressive polish, as others have suggested, and work on a panel by hand and see how it is both look and if your arm nearly dropped off !! Have also heard, as noted, Honda paint can be softer to work with so might not be too bad. The Werkstatt acrylic is good stuff ain't it - use it on all the cars I've worked on (except my own black one). MikeM is also an option, Stirling based.

Nice looking vehice(s). Eh, what is your neighbour up to in the background ....surely not what I think!!!!

Nice one Cal. Kept your wife happy with the amount spent no doubt given number more £'s were mentioned ! No doubt through time we'll see even more car transformation and track write up's !! -
Welcome, and enjoy yourself. You'll get a few of these....."GET SOME PICS ON" !!!!! Car "sounds" nice though.
-
Also heard that they sometimes let you off with the window tint if you pull the film off there and then - perhaps unlucky there they weren't for telling you that ! That technicality thing is definately worth a go though - can but ask.
-
Nice work as usual Mike. Shame when you need to machine polish so early on. Most people wouldn't look at the finish as closely as you do but that's no excuse when someones spending their money on a brand new vehicle ! Wifes new pre-reg'd 6month old car is on my list for next week - in a worse condition (up real close) but it has sat about somewhere since March! Like the "improvements" you've made to your wifes car so far....no doubt they'll be more soon enough !? Go on, tell us what your thoughts are ?
-
Lookin good fella. Been said before, and I'll be first to say it again, black shines up the best !!

Another One For The Advice Please ? ! Sti Type R
C_WRX replied to ~ ~ Cal ~~'s topic in Scottish Scoobies
Stick with your instincts then Cal. Yeah you're really wanting one but your in no massive hurray. Long way to go for a look. Think you're almost talking yourself out of it ?? One thing is your doing as much as you can to check everything out so top marks there ! -
....and Shell were a little shy in telling people during their v-power days that although it was cleaner/better for their cars engine life it was normally a lot more expensive for such little benefit ! All I put in mine obviously but very ocassionally put it in the wifes.
-
Now I wonder if that was the same EVO that thought I'd be interested heading on to M74 a while back ??? Not my thing (standard WRX after all!), especially when the wifes sitting next to me firing warnings before I even get in to 2nd !! Bet your grin was more noticeable than his red face though !!

I've been hearing of a few thefts in Lanarkshire last couple of months. Yeah I know it goes on all over the place all the time, seems more new high end cars - RS4's, X5's, M3's, Range Rover Sports (heard someone got both the last two pinched at the same time )- though. Sure the race car has a few expensive parts on it which tempting them. Wife gets her new car end of the week so mine gets the garage so I don't need to look out the window every time I hear a noise outside at night........although mines not quite high end !!
-
....don't you just hate it when that happens - nope ! Nice looking vehicle. Must admit I've always liked the RB5's.
