About ScoobySounds

  1. I picked my car up at about 4pm and got home at 10pm after a whole tank! the 6 speed is really, really good fun - the car just feels so sharp and light, cos its always right in the twitchy bit of the power band Mind you, I also uprated to the Helix Autosport 4.3 kg flywheel and organic clutch. The new flywheel is so responsive, no hint of resistance on approach to hills, no lumpy idle, no drawbacks at all - I stalled once at lights but just takes getting used to. Got some gauges mounted today too, turns out its mapped at 1.6 bar of boost! No wonder if feels spritely and lastly, also had to upgrade the entire rear hubs and drive too as part of the conversion, so i've finally got rid of those awful standard rear calipers and milk bottle tops, and got the 2pot brembos on now. They don't match the AP 6 pots on the front, but can't have everything! All in all a very happy bunny its difficult to say 'its finished', so I won't.. but for sure I got much closer to it today. .. next maybe flocking and some kind of steering wizardry.. shorter rack? na.. i'll be happy until the finances recover! Chris.
  2. cheers peter and steve, while u mention the sound.... See if you click on the u tube link and watch in normal quality, you can't hear the turbo spooling! - compare it to watching in "HQ" - really shows how bad the standard you tube compression is thats the best bit! haha
  3. In theory I suppose, the bridge should be smoother on hot days was it cold?
  4. I don't know where you find the road for all those horses as it is!
  5. cheers mate yeah i hope so.. SW put this one in so he'll know his way round it alright - its going to him next week. I'll mabies give him my old gearbox and see if he can't misplace 2 or 3 ppg sets in there. aye right. Yeah i thought it should be safe running at these sorts of torques, but either my cars not right, or i've got two broken gearboxes that say otherwise. your cars lookin mint mate steve showed us round it - although i think you are mad for needing any more than that. 350? yours is more like 470 isn't it?
  6. ah. i see. so me drivin it home then wouldn't have done it any favours? least i got it home. hopefully the loose teeth turned into a kind of metal smoothy after a few miles. cheers for the info mate.
  7. this shots amazing! cheers for that one of me, like it! That guy in the black shed was driving like he was from mad max too.
  8. Ha, yeah.. last time it cost me 650, 700 quids - but THIS time i've got my old gearbox, so its time to open it up and see whats what. lol, I could just have them on rotation. take the spare to knockhill next time and get TEN laps!! edit ps. any future career change decisions made yet Tam? ;0)
  9. ..it doesn't feel like those symptoms. i've had it for 3.5yrs and it feels mint to drive usually - I would imagine i'd notice the front and rear going differenct speeds. maybe not. --> Great knowledge tho mate, defintaly the first thing i'll look into.
  10. really? cheers for the tip! so should all the codes (geabox, rear diff, front diff) all match? or just the front and rear diff codes?
  11. yup! - you did tell me so. v aggressive, but I would still go again! I didn't really mind them, apart from them ferkin rocks bouncing up and down all over me. how rude. still, wouldn't get that kind of driving at an sidc day
  12. yeah they had squeezing cones everywhere - they were a bit of a pain, on the rolling start I had nowhere to go at the end of the straight as cars were coming up the inside, almost pushed me into the cones! I think I was being too polite on that first lap, was just trying to stay out of peoples way! There were loads of very aggressive drivers out, you can see that shed wagon kicking up boulders that bouced off my bonnet and that evo was very quick and very on my bumpers. - yeah the boxes are the same ones that are in the Sti. the phase two ones.
  13. fantastic choice jimser!! best colour and best year! look forward to seeing the progress on that 450! Chris.
  14. mods, sorry posted in wrong place.. coudya move it to scottish scoobies? Cheers, Chris.
  15. ok its something about my driving, or my luck - but i've mashed another one .. thats two gearboxes in two trackdays - 100% record!! I'm only running 310/320 roundabouts there, so I'm sure its not ppg time. .. surely. Lost drive at 3:10, and have a listen to the sound when I'm being towed off, thats NEUTRAL!! If anyone can enlighten me as to whats's going on here, Id really rather not have to buy 1 gearbox for every 5 laps of kh Big thanks to Sti_Steve for sticking behind me on the way home - hope your bbq was good, weathers smashing for it. Steve was paxing when this happened, but I went out before on my own and the car was absolutely fantastic, there's really nothing I would change handling wise- was getting nice n sideways on the hairpin (I hope somebody got a picture!). Its only my second trackday, and today I really got a feel for the tyres, and what the difference feels like when they're properly warm. Never felt that on a road. Of course, as soon as I started feeling it session 1 was pitted
