Hang on....the big old orange stripes on it didn't let folk know it was John's car already !!! May be witnessing a few bumps as people turn their heads for a second look ! Certainly different JW (as usual!). Some bits do like - some not sure about yet.

Welcome. White Hawkeye STi, mmm, I like !

Ever Wondered What 400 Lbft Of Torque Does To A 5 Speed Box?
C_WRX replied to trackhound's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Argh, now see that doesn't help!, I'd made my mind up now you've got me re-thinking perhaps I could go beyond the 340ish mark !!! . I was told that it is most likely to happen if you're very hard on the car/gears, maybe more so track use, but if I'm honest it does kinda make me nervous so I may air on the side of caution !!?? (not saying at all that you were like that JW, you could've just been unlucky!!) -

Also a thanks from me. I'd half been considering a 20G turbo when I finally get round to the next round of power upgrades - this has made my mind up for me after seeing that, can't/won't afford a 6-speed as well. Looks like have to just be happy with a VF34/5 / TD05-16G as a max point ! As for yourself not moving to an even bigger turbo, be rude not to ! . -
Different, but nice touch ! Agree not the prettiest camera on show but none the less looks cool. Well done, your some man for the DIY stuff but handy at it to !

Wheels suit the car, good choice. How often recently have you switched the stereo off, put the window down and dabbed the throttle just to hear the exhaust noise !!!
-
Bet that took a fair few hours, but the end result was worth it. Your polishing steps and finish have worked well, is looking very shiny. Not seen the Midnight Sun on anything other than black before, seems to have worked well on the red. The blackfire gloss spray is good for topping that up now every few weeks. Showing my OCD side a bit here.....but first time water hits the bodywork the beading is excellent with that wax. Bugs me as well that you have it looking so good and then the stone chips look even more obvious !!!

Funny how all the nice weather brings out the polish !! Now, queue the rain for the week ahead !! Nicely done. Must admit to quite liking the hawkeke front grill look, even though I'm a Blobeye owner. Did you clay it ? A lot of folk overlook it when giving the car a good clean/polish, if you look at ScoUK's thread you can see what comes off and that's possible after only 6 months ! Just adds to the overall eventual finish.

Yip, just as others have said. I tend to use autosol on an exhaust with slightly more baked on mess, and then finish off with the Meguiars polish....that's just me being picky for what I think is a slightly better shine/finish, the autosol should be fine on its own. Autoglym version should do the trick too.

Argh tell me about it !!! Rear bumper getting done over the weekend (my own fault!), the front bumper getting done next week (stone chips galore and couple bad scratches) and I need to organise someone to come and take out the 3 (that I can find) dents around the car ! The bonnet also needs tidied up of all the tiny stone chips but I'll touch up and polish myself once I have good use of both hands . I tend to pick and choose what I park next to. Avoid people carriers and old/abused looking cars - try get next to presitge/well looked after cars. Either than or park a little away. Saw someone in the row in front open their door battering it against the car next to it, and then turn round with their suitcase..sorry handbag and run that along the door also ! Didn't even bat an eyelid at it. Must've marked the door.

Does anyone phone their local council number to report the potholes though ?? Not sure if this is all areas but I understand the council don't accept liability for damage unless the pothole has been reported 10 days prior to the incident. Know about Ayrshire being one of the worst, years ago worked down there and in a 6 month spell went through two alloys, two good tyres and various suspension parts !! Cost a fortune and got none of it back !!!

Anyone recommend someone that does Dent Removal in Lanarkshire area? Couple of small dings I'd like seen to.

I am going to have to replace some decals this month - and add on a couple more. Does anyone have any recommendations of who to go to for this ? Basically much same as below two pics, they're nothing overly complicated.

Even more so nowadays I think "what if that behaviour causes an accident and what if there's an infant/child in that car". If someone won't get out the fast lane give a flash if you must, don't sit on their tail ! It ain't big and it ain't clever !!

Video Footage >> Sidc Track Day - 28th March 2009
C_WRX replied to ~ ~ Cal ~~'s topic in Scottish Scoobies
Makes good watching Cal for those of us never been on the track ! Hope your old man had a better time of it after his wee spin. I did notice though that, despite you letting two cars past, none of that footage shows you being overtaken by anyone....you getting that good !? . Good to see the car did well on your first outing with it. That Evo tearing away was quite impressive must say ! -
I was looking for an arm like Will Smith's in I,Robot but no luck, not available !! If you see my car, I'm not driving it and you post my first ever Was It You up then I'll be raging !! Although if you see a big old arm waving about from the passengers side I'll at least have been in it. Ah, the OCD Colin, that is tough going. I'll need to develop new techniques me thinks - like delegating ! Okay May and June but that's basically it for the summer time.
-
Good work. Don't be shy saying what you used on it. One very small thing I think always finishes off a good clean up well is some black tyre shine.

HaHa, yeah, before I worked out how to hide no.plate via pc!!

Queue the tear gerking music...... Well I've known for a couple of months now it was going to happen but yesterday got the first part of my hand surgery done...leaving me from finger tip to elbow in plastercast !!! Couple months back tore the tendon away from top part of one of my fingers, basically meaning it didn't work. I now can't drive for likely the next 4 weeks till the stitches are out as it was just a rod that was put in (missing the first Glasgow run ! ) Gets worse....... All going well with this part I go back under the knife in 3 months time to reattach a tendon leaving me again in plaster - but for 3 months !!! . I can't drive during that time either. Gutted !!! As if the miles needed keeping down any more ! But the worse toughest part in all this is that I've to be handed my 10 week old daughter as I can only safely use the one arm just now.

Bought mine fro Subaru and fitted it myself. Not too hard. Just take time and don't rush it. Top piece a doddle. Bottom piece a bit of drilling involved, you should get a template thingy with the parts from Subaru guiding you where to drill. The screws are weird, couldn't find an attachment to get them in so had to improvise...one of those "specialist" tools no doubt!!

I have a 54reg Blobeye and have just recently basically gone through AndyF's Level1 with a bit of Level2 : 2.5" exhaust system turbo back, with sportscat downpipe (part heat wrapped). Decat up-pipe (heat wrapped). Green Panel filter. Walbro fuel pump. Samco Y pipe. There's similar ways to squeeze a bit more power out but that worked for me cost and MOT wise. Estimated 280bhp/300lbs. Next stage would be some STi items to take me to aroundabout 340bhp.

To cut a very long boring story short I have heard of a WR1 with lowish miles that might be for sale soon and for what seems like a decent price. I can't decide whether to ignore it or go for it ?? I've not really properly made it along to any meets (the Glasgow BBQ run last July didn't really count!) so none of you have ever seen my car but like many I have spent WAAAAY too much time and money on it (styling/wheels/springs/etc etc) - and rediculous time and effort keeping it looking as best I can. Mechanically I know it is spot on and I have just up'd the power to 280bhp. So I basically know my car has been looked after and should serve me well in future. Is the WR1 a good special edition ? Don't know a whole lot about it other than 320bhp standard and very STi looking in a one off colour. The wife said "no way", then I showed her a pic of a similar one and she said "oh that does look nice" - no help from there then !! Thoughts ?

Must be the weather for it, wee ejits. My Fathers car was (what looks like) keyed on Friday during the day in Hamilton, was only parked for 20mins !! Machined some of it out but about 3/4 of it was too deep to even impact - full length of panel under petrol cap ! Company car but he looks after it so was not amused !

I must admit to being an owner that sits poised to wave back, waiting for the other Subaru owner to wave ! I found that it was mainly newage that waved back, quite a few classics were younger folk who looked at me like I had two heads !! Also much same with 5dr newages, most are unaware of what's under the bonnet (not all I know)! My wife finds the waving thing all very funny, although she conveniently forgets she waved at other Mini drivers when she owned one of those !! Picturing tomorrows news - "an extrodinary number of Subaru Impreza's crashed today. Witnesses at numerous crash sites said they seemed to be doing a "three amigooooos" style dance in the car just prior to it leaving the road". Not one for me I don't think !!

Are you just running the standard WRX set up with OEM discs and pads just now ? I have upgraded pads and recently up'd power to 280bhp and I just feel sometimes it isn't quite enough stopping power (kinda felt pre-map that I wasn't completely happy with pads upgrade). Next step is up to 340ish like yourself so brakes is something I'd also be looking at changing....to what is the same question I have ?! If you could post what you go for and how you feel the difference is that'd be great. I got my pads from ASPerformance, speaking with him (Alyn isn't it??) I got decent advise, although imagine he'd mainly refer to what he sells.
