  1. A lot of folks on here, particularly in the west, like the pipe work Meercat do. General answer about whether to get one is usually yes, but can depend on other mods you've had done to warrant the remap such as perhaps as well having the whole system done. e.g. I have a WRX blobeye decated except sportscat dp (+ couple smallish other items) and went from 225 standard to 280ish.
  2. Welcome along. Sounds like a few nice additions going on there - be good to see pics once the broadband is up and running.
  3. I just renewed staying with Keith Michael's for third year - ask for Gary Moulson (he has a Scoob himself so understands any mods) on 02082880275, mention saw his posts on Scoobynet. One to try? As ScoUK says, most premiums are going up, supposedly cause of ever increasing number of personal injury claims, but mine only went up £25 which is not bad suppose
  4. Citroen AX GT500 - given the age I was was an okay wee car I thought - kept it for 3 months !
  5. Hope you don't mind Matt, seems original post place isn't that well visited to show off your nice shiny vehicles ! Link to Matt's original post : http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=136205 No machining (well just a tiny light bit where I pointed out to a horrified Matt some marks he'd never noticed before on his saloon) was requested/carried out on either car - maybe one day Matt!. Request was for more of an intensive valet. Few after pics, unfortunately not any quality before ones taken, was too eager to get stuck in to them. The wagon turnaround was much more obvious with the daily drive having general tired paint and trim(and an interior frequented by a cat at some time I think). Plenty lifted out of the paintwork to leave a nice finish, well I think anyway and more importantly so did Matt & his girlfriend. The Turbo was already looking pretty good (reason Matt chose this crackin fairly standard example) so was just to make sure of clean paintwork, a bit more shine and the all important protection added. Nice to meet you Matt, maybe see you along at an event in the future.
  6. Nice work again, pretty obvious improvement from the 50/50 shot. Now I thought you kept a clean car Cathy?? Amazing the difference that a good machine polish can bring, you must be well pleased with the result. Plenty incentive to make sure it stays clean, and with good wash/proctection technique, now you've invested in the new look ! Does the paintwork look more orange than red in this pic - lighting / camera / my eyes ??
  7. Also believe this guy is worth a look in your area, www.detailecosse.co.uk (Gav I think his name is). No idea of costs etc but you can check it out and/or call him. Agree with Frank, might look expensive (and yes pb are but they are pretty good!!) but if a detail is done properly there's a lot more involved than people realise. Anyone armed with a bucket, sponge, fairy liquid, some cheap polish and a few rags can make a car look shiny from a distance and call it a valet.....but no way would I let anyone anywhere near any of my cars with a sponge as scratch/swirls inflicted spreading the grit/dirt about, fairy liquid strips previous protection off, cheap polish won't stay on long and rags can also inflict paint issues - here endeth the lesson . Is it just me or are more people wanting cleaner cars at the moment - is it the weather bringing this on ?? Like it !
  8. Nicely done Frank. Like the Menz stuff myself, bit dusty at time but par for the course machining. Good last pic, barr the big white van in the background !
  9. Kenny, I had my up-pipe and part of my sportscat dp wrapped when it was fitted beginning of the year. Don't quote me on this but I think I was advised NOT to wrap the actual sports cat (the cat bit that is - pipe work okay...not easy to explain that !) but in the end I let the place that fitted it just do it all for me with the "whatever you thinks best" instruction. If unsure then someone like Dunc/Hypertech I'm sure can advise, and probably do the wrapping & fitting for you as well. If appropriate for your car then seek out an up-pipe at the same time (sounds like your getting the pipe work seen to then a remap??) to release as much potential as can. Choices for my blobeye on up-pipes were things like an STi up-pipe or where I finally got mine, prewrapped, Harvey(on snet).
  10. Well done Mr.Strike. The de-swirled after pics speak for themselves. It is slow and boring to get it all done, but as you say there's that feeling of satisfaction at the end. You'll find yourself annoyed at marks you come across like fine scratches that won't come out or stone chips that you never noticed before - near on impossible to get it 100% ! You may find that you get a little paranoid when someone/thing gets a little too close to the bodywork Like to say it's normal, but not letting anyone/thing near the car doesn't look normal !! Make sure you are washing the car in future properly so as to cut down on inflicting any new swirls. So shiney no-one else could risk parking anywhere near through fear of being blinded by the glow !!!
  11. . I'm watching the start of the first one thinking "I know that road"!! So it turns out you drove into Strathaven where I grew up ! I only live a few miles away from there now so basically the night I couldn't make it you were just along the road !! Magic. Wee story for you from that Blackwood to Strathaven road. My brother-in-law lived along that road. He tells the story of fleeing along there (about a mile before the footage starts on the vid) as fast of his fully bodykitted Orion (actually looked good for a car of it's time especially for a 17 year old!) would go, when a rally stickered up Evo (I think) appears in his rear view. He claims it was one of the McRae Bro's (he says Alistair), but to cut a long story short ,the car didn't wait too long behind him, tore past, and by the time he got another 1/2 mile along the road to the next long straight he said it was basically out of site. Just when you think your going quick the pros show you different ! Good choice of roads again Barry - doing a fine job of Lanarkshire rep ! Also good in video footage.
  12. Good job lads. Main thing is Zarabad is pleased with the result.
  13. You tried claying it to get the tree sap off ? Also Autosmart Tardis ?
  14. My suggestion would be just make sure it is 100cell. I have the Scoobyworld Ninja with fast flow cat. Believe Meercat also do a good sports cat.
  15. Hey John. You basically need to decide for yourself what's the right thing to do - it's you that needs to live with the outcome end of the day. Everyone on here knows exactly where your coming from when you mention how expensive a Scooby is to run - modded or not. Have you tried just driving it for a month without spending any modding money on it, perhaps use the Corsa more often, and seeing really how much it is to run - 340/400 are good numbers ! Loads of good advice from folks. In particular is the buying a 2nd car feasible for you (even keep the wifes Corsa and buy her a new car?), it is actually quite a good idea for enjoying more the less time you'd spend driving your Irn-Bru ? Missing driving the Scoob is a strange feeling, when my wife wasn't using her car at turn of the year I left mine in the garage for 6 weeks and ran about in her Astra 1.9CDTi - I actually quite like driving this car BUT when I got back in the Scooby I'd kinda forgot how quick it was and yes the grin returned. I did miss it but I am also getting the urge to look elsewhere as I feel after a short time the grin disappeared. However every time I wheel it out the garage I feel quite pleased with myself when I think about how much time and money I've spent on getting it looking to what I'm pleased with (well STi upgrades to 340bhp would be nice). Argh...it isn't easy John is it !! I'm about to park the car up for a few months again and once I'm driving again I know I'll get the grin back but if it disappears fairly quickly and financially I can afford it reckon I'll look to change start of next year. Take your time deciding JW. How about this for a cheap run around Nice gripping seats in there ! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/8103106.stm
  16. Brilliant Gus. But hang on....hang on !!! What else is in the driveway/garage at the moment that might be going first. You were giving Arnoldo Clark a run for his money the amount of cars(and bikes) that were going through you're hands this time last year ! Was hanging about talking with folks near to where you were, Lostboy managed to find me ( ) and pointed you out but you were in a fair sized group in full flow. Meant to pop over later but the wee one was getting grumpy and ended up never getting to say hello.
  17. Dunno know what to say Gus, Well Done just doesn't seem enough. Remember when you got the RA and folks were taking bets as to how many weeks/months it'd last !! Cars looking good by the way, tatseful changes. Was trying to catch you at the Falkirk meet to introduce myself but you were well busy chatting with folks before I had to head off.
  18. Reckon whoever on here is recommended they'll be good. If you're going to price comapre then know what you want out of the detail in advance...there's loads a detailer can do to your car to make it look its best - it'll mount up ££ though ! e.g. Bodywork is what most people want focused on - simple thorough clean and protection / with machine polish / with machine correction & polish. Scratch / swirl removal. Then there's Interior, Wheels(front, inside & protection), Engine bay, and so on. As BJM says the PB website is very good either if you plan on DIYing it or want to know what can be done - and very helpful people. I've spent a small fortune from there this year but am pleased with this years results (as are a few others I hope !). Make sure you get a wee write up and some pics on if you get it done, well as long as you're happy with the work !!
  19. . Was funny that it wouldn't shift, guess that stuff I use doesn't let you even touch the car without marking it. HaHa, I'm sure it'll machine out . I'm more worried about the "cocktail" of liquid from the cattle truck that sprayed the car on the way home !!! Good to see a face from the past. Now, go hand over the credit card to your Dad after all the improvements you were on about wanting !!
  20. Barry, Was it your son that asked the balloon guy if he could make a Subaru ? Brilliant !! Forgot to ask, how many people came in to Falkirk wheel park area and nearly drove past the car park - there was only about 40 Subaru's in the car park....how did you nearly miss us all ??
  21. , set you up for that one nicely eh !! That was a best case as well, might even have been...well, you know !
  22. , a job offer and a (pretend) queue of four for near death by polishing . Cheers. Don't say "scratch" Bobby, I've a bumper with 4 to get rid of !! It's a Nikon D60 Gordon, although somehow pmacFTO knew that before I said anything ?? Must show up when you click on a pic or something like that ?? On the way back from Falkirk Sunday I had to pass a cattle transporter on the motorway, with some "coloured liquid" pouring out the back, sprayed all over the car...the wife was in stitches at me getting a run up to get past quick as. Oh well, needs another wash .
  23. A few random pics, didn't realise it's quite a few really. I've taken out as many number plates as can, if you see yours still there and want it removed just let me know... ...think that'll do !
  24. Well done Bobbyc. Think even little Lucy (my 20 week old daughter) enjoyed it. Good to meet some folks, couple I was wanting to but never got the chance, maybe next time. Got a few pics I'll try and post up later on. Hope that wasn't too serious Peter , passed you on the way back ! 1. Bobby C - GB 270 - 340 BHP 2. Mag C - Type RA ver 2 - 280 BHP 3. kennyuk300-UK300 - 265 BHP 4. imy - ver 2 STi Type RA V-Ltd - estimated 310bhp 5.wrx kenny wrx approx 245bhp 6. Scotsman - Bugeye WRX Wagon - 306bhp 7. Notsosmall- Blobeye WRX approx 245bhp 8. C_WRX - Blobeye WRX - 280bhp
  25. Thanks for the nice comments folks. I was happy with the finish on the paintwork but I think it has been helped where I was fortunate to catch the light at the right time and angle...complete accident !! Ho'd and hum'd about whether to post any pics then I downloaded them on to the pc and thought they made the car look even better than it does in the flesh/metal ! pmacFTO - So pleased with the quality of the pics coming from the D60, just getting used to some of the functions, annoying everyone taking pics of everything !! Stubaroo - just get your work posted on, I quite like checking out other folks work/pics (and yes I check out DetailingWorld also). Think I've an OCD bubbling away !!! Strike/Badbaz - always a big compliment when someone says that....ta. It took me a long time to get to that level, think you'd miss not getting to actually drive yours in that time. I kinda went a bit beyond the quick wash and wax, every time I washed it I saw a different bit I wanted to get just a bit more out of - I'm already noticing some little bits that need seeing too again...like the scrapes on the back bumper but they're for respray (close my eyes walking round that bit!) !! :madnoel: Welsho/Imy - suppose it does look chrome like in bits...hmm , a chrome car, now that would be a cleaning nightmare !! Step too far me thinks, you couldn't go out on a sunny day without blinding everyone ! Now, I suppose I better go out in it some time !
