  1. Just purchased a nice new SLR camera (actually shared present with the wife), so thought I'd get used to it with some car pics, of course !! Had some spare time recently so got to work on my own car for a change. I gave the car a full detail back at the turn of the year, thoroughly cleansed inside/outside/under bonnet and paint machined (although showing some sign of webs already ). With the car having done probably a whole 600 miles since then was just aiming to strip off the old wax (bodywork still smooth - check!) to put on some new Blackfire items recently purchased from pb. That and quickly buffing up the wheels (which will have only done about 300 miles since being put back on after winter) and shining up the chrome. Wet Diamond All Finish Protection as base layer then 3 coats (so far) of Blackfire Midnight Sun Ivory Carnauba Paste Wax. A couple of quick pics (remember I'm just getting used to the world of SLR) : 1st one assisted by the reflection off my wifes red car: A few little reflection shots : And to finish : Oh, and yes I'm liking the camera !!! They make the car look better than I thought it was !?!
  2. This might be as it is supposed to be, but changed the OEM airbox hose to a Samco one on Friday there. Panel filter in airbox already. Not the same sooking air flow noise now as I used to get...is that how it's supposed to be cause the hose is smooth ?? Quite liked it when you went from foot flat down - change gear - hear a subtle little whoosh from the airbox ! Also the air box doesn't quite fully flush fit in to the bottom slots as I think the hose was a bit longer, will this matter (actually question more if that's the panel than the hose change??) ? The car doesn't need any kind of remap thingy now for such a small change does it ?? Don't think so but best just to check suppose.
  3. Lady by username of scuzz on here (Kent Scoobies think) I have used for exterior stickers couple of times, reasonably priced and quickish delivery.
  4. Bottom line is yes ! When I bought my completely standard Blob WRX it was mainly cause of money at the time, and if I'm honest cause I didn't know half as much about the Impreza as I do since being on here. I was doing 15k miles a year and like you wanted a low mileage example but with next to no finance. Since then my yearly mileage has halfed and I think quite a bit about "STi - what if". When I bought it I never intended on doing anywhere near as much to it as I have, and I feel it's a better car, but at a fair old cost, and worse still I still want more from it !! Do I regret not stretching the finances - yes. Do I think quite a bit about the money I've thrown at my WRX -v- how an STi would be for me now - yes. Would I trade my WRX for an STi now - unlikely, only cause feel gone too far and spent too much on it. If you've not spent much on your car, if it really is annoying you for all the bits you noted, then nows the time to change. You're doing your homework, you'll come to the right decision for you soon enough.
  5. Yip, you're right, it was a good clean. Looking good.
  6. Liking that - the white car, the front looks aggressive, and the engine bay too. Cracking spec list giving a nice round 400 (approx) bhp figure ! You not a detango fan ??
  7. Well it's your fault really , but doubt I'll change quite as many hoses !! Do like your engine bay finish which pushed me to just get it done after thinking about it a while back.
  8. Good good. A few pipes to change under the hood now me thinks
  9. It's aftermarket item, Samco, so not bothered about the OEM stock item. Basically, the one fitted to my WRX intercooler just now can it be used (same fitment) if I were to upgrade to STi intercooler ??
  10. Is the "Y" pipe the same fitment size on the newage WRX intercooler and the STi intercooler ? Have WRX on at moment but if in future I upgrade to STi intercooler don't want to have to buy a new pipe.
  11. If the calendar idea comes to anything then this could be kind of thing that is entered ? Just edit out the Punto top left of car park. Some crackin pics there folks.
  12. ...and how'd you do ?
  13. Shame to hear the car is going Colin, I'll never forget that engne bay pic ! Shame if you leave here too, here's hoping it's a another Scoob you find to fill the void !!
  14. Nice and clean, nice one.
  15. Hello and Welcome. Nice example.

Not too far away from your car, I have a 2004 WRX. My next stage is same as you, having max'ed out the TD04 turbo I have with items noted on Andy's site. Andy told next stage for me to reach 330-340 was to change the intercooler (with undertray of course) VF34/5 & injectors. I think the intercooler would limit your increase and if you're going to do it best do it properly !? Yes, more BHP power = need for more stopping power too. Just keeps mounting up doesn't it !!
  17. Absolutely it isn't taking over !! Go for it ! I am just happy it was taken as a decent idea and I didn't get the p1$$ ripped out me !! I'd be happy to help and stick my oar in where can.... Moving on from some other ideas : "-12 of the sexiest scoobies on here and get decent shots of them (making sure that all ages are covered)?" My original thoughts were maybe not all 12 months of individuals cars, perhaps good to get some group shots of cars, e.g. regional meets / Falkirk wheel mag / Highland run / as many special editions in one place / etc ?? Gets more people/cars involved. Encourages people to look for that amazing pic when they're at the meets which if it doesn't quite make the calendar we can still all enjoy on here anyways. Some arty f@rty ones also to keep it professional..ish looking though. I'm a shocking photographer so wouldn't do mine justice in a pic (that's an example as I'm quite sure there are plenty of better looking cars than mine out there !!) - do we get pics of folks cars then if req'd set up a good local photographer to go "on location" ? A poll of some kind where folk can vote on what is used is good idea, rules out possible bias. Although not a surprise when the calendar comes out ?? Cars featured one year can't be used individually the next sounds fair. "Do we pay for a company to design the calendar, or have it done to a very high standard for free?" To me, so far, it seems that we have the photography and knowledge skill here. "Do we take orders/payments in advance then have a batch of calendars printed?" Depending on costs, take pre-orders (and hope they're good ) but if can have extras made up ?? "Do we just cover Scotland or make it nationwide? This could prove difficult unless there's photographers available wherever needed." Walk before we can run, if goes well this year then spread it out further next. Scottish Scoobies in the pics but offer the calendar for sale to all at SIDC (and friends/family/work mates/etc) and that'd gauge how popular it would be in the rest of the country ?? Any other ideas ?
  18. Sitting working my rear end off, wondering when I can next take a holiday and I had a thought ! Now this is very often a dangerous moment for me but hey ho I'll blurt it out and see what pelters I get for it !!? I got for my Xmas a supercars calendar (don't laugh, from family member who knows I like my cars..very nice Lambo this month) and got me thinking. Has Scottish Scoobies ever put together a calendar and offered it for sale to the folks on here - aim of the profits obviously going to charity ? It is just with the ever growing list of events coming up and the increasing number of folks with their fancy cameras just a thought about getting group pics of the cars at various events/meets and putting something like this together. It is at this point I let myself down slightly and say it was just the thought from myself. With the recent arrival of my baby daughter, being completely snowed with work and soon to have the second hand op I couldn't manage the time to even dream of doing the finished article justice !! Just perhaps there is someone else who'd be interested and/or has good contacts for completing such a thing ?? If it is a rediculous idea go easy on me !!
  19. Nightmare fella. Hope the recent bad luck run hasn't put you off Scoobs and you can sample your next one very soon.
  20. I'm quite liking that. That's not surprise in my tone, that a little envy I think . Nice buy as far as looks go.
  21. Ha, what do you mean feart to park it now....always have been . Think I'll be doing the extreme taking two spaces up or parking at the furthest away space from everyone else for sure now - or just use the wifes car !!! The original fog covers had pink decals...they last a day ! Silver decals went on and have lasted till I got fed up looking at the stone chips/scratches on the front bumper and obviously the decals had to be taken off for the fog covers to be resprayed. The rear bumper tiny scuff was my fault and could've been left but when the front was getting done might as well get that done too ! If I get the chance I'll get a few pics up at a later date.
  22. Welcome. Look forward to seeing the pics, with the new wheels on to. Photobucket is nice and easy to use, must be cause I can use it ! !.
  23. Nice pics ! I think cars looking good !! This sunny weather actually shows off the swirls unfortunately !! Makes me want to pay attention to my pic taking instead of point and press. Just had my front & rear bumpers resprayed, the new splitter sprayed and the dings removed - and the cars came back with swirls galore, so need to get stuck in to correcting that some time when I have a spare day or two !! Also looks very "naked " with the decals missing from the fog covers - obviously they had to come off for respray part - on order so can look respectable again !!
  24. Welcome. Nice looking example. Is it completely standard ? As a fella blobeye WRX owner, once you start the modding you'll not want to stop. There's always something you just have to have !!
  25. You've got a fair choice there. Just when you mentioned the car, happened to be flicking through the autotrader at the weekend there and noticed a Focus ST near where I used to live for sale. I know nothing of the car/owner/condition/etc but reading the advert it has about 380bhp and was under £12k (again, if I remember right). Fun in the wet/winter me thinks, but different ??! Downside was it was orange, I mean, who has orange all over their car (I am just kidding about - something about the colour that's acceptable on viewing). There was also a very nice Evo a couple of weeks back, white one lowish miles good price, likely gone as looked/read very nice. Have to say an S4 sounds appealing, if you could get a good one for that money.
