Air Filter - tut tut, appears someone hasn't looked at that at the 20k service ! Engine bay dress up - liking the noted bits, more to follow ? Carbon fibres always nice addition...but expensive ! Been changing a few pipes myself lately but money keeps needin to go to other places so not quite got it to the level I am aiming for.

Not having the full timing belt kit fitted will save a lot...but I was told that they don't know whether it is needed until they get in there to look at it. If they think you need it wise to get it done ! The kit is about £300 on its own I believe. If comparing prices perhaps just ask for service + worst case with the full TB kit being required.
-
Yip. My WRX just received its 5 year service and it was the timing belt that made up the majority of the final bill. If you're in the central belt (no pun intended) drop me a note and I'll share the bill list/prices with you if you want.

Why Oh Why Do People Have To Drive Like Knobs!
C_WRX replied to Richie Cross's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Afraid that stupid drivers like this are everywhere. I just don't understand that mentality, there's no excuses for it, it ain't clever and impresses no-one !! Couple years back my wife came home in near tears after a van driver followed her for 5 miles on a country road in the dark driving only a couple of metres from her bumper - she was doing 50mph, and at one point slowed down on a straight section to 40 to let it past which it didn't !! Too dark to get it's number plate and it pulled off before they got to the next town. No flashing lights, no incidents beforehand, just a creepy idiot thinking they were being funny - tube ! -
Very nice indeed. Some well taken arty ones in there....place only to be visited in daylight with your car eh ! Your choice but some people like to hide there number plates.
-
Hope you don't mind me jumping in and asking a question.... Porting Headers - what will it do exactly and roughly how much power would you expect from it ? Am I right in thinking you can also do same/similar to turbo ??
-
Yip, as Cal says hang on in there. I'm awaiting a reply to a remap tweak request, just a couple of days ago though I emailed.

Think it is this Harvey : http://www.geocities.com/harveysmith3000/ Got my wrapped decat up-pipe from him, he was good to deal with and gave a very informative email explanation to the questions I asked.

Nice choice. ZX6-R was the last bike I had (except red). Won't tell you what happen to me on it . Miss not having a bike but other priorities these days. Enjoy.
-
What model is it you have ? What mods were done ? Great day out, excluding the financial side of it, and especially after the first time reckon everyone has a big smile !
-
...and you traded in with ? Was yours brand new ?
-
Do you mind me asking where you got your VF34 from, I keep an eye out for a good priced one now and again (for a one day hopefully future upgrade) and find they aren't easy to come by ?? I might be looking in the wrong place(s) !

Agree, regardless, it is looking good.

If I receive good service I believe in sharing that with folks who may need similar work : After 7.5 weeks of not being able to drive first outing was through to Bonnybridge/Falkirk. Wish it was for something a bit more exciting but was just about keeping the car running well ! Car had it's 5 year service, which included the rather expensive timing belt change, and Duncan(s) gave it a good check over pointing out one or two future things to consider. Although not the biggest bill for car service work I've ever received wasn't far away, but not as bad as I thought was going to be given my list of "could you look at"! Harder to part with the cash when you spend that amount and it doesn't drive any different . As usual happy with their work and advice, that personal touch of Subaru chat (when he has time) I like. At the service the wheels came off, and the locking wheel nut key was shredding. Wheels/nuts only 18months old so left the locking nuts off and when I collected the car headed over to Skidz where they were bought from (didn't realise they'd moved to a more impressive premises!). Showed the guy the locking key and without any request from me he replaced the whole set for free ! Good customer service in my book.

Sounding good. Going all that way for it it must be nice - look forward to seeing the pics. If it's late on this morning you're going to Hypertech then I may see you there - I could be the one crying as I receive what could be the biggest service bill of my life (cambelt service and it needed all bits done!!).
-
Happy Birthday, have a good one.

Erm, is that not like never having car insurance and when involved in an accident/stolen you then get the policy to cover what's already happened, wouldn't be too many companies about if that was the norm - it's like any insurance where you hope it never happens but you have the cover just in case. Shame about the car not starting issue by the way, hope it is an easy fix. How about a local garage coming out to look at it ??
-
Congratulations to you both ! Hope you had a fanastic day. p.s. cars looking good, take it you've now removed the ribbon, you get away with that for just that day !
-
Argh, should've fired mine up for you with my nice quiet subtle one for comparison for you and to hear that's burble...would've been good just to see it still starts as well ! I have the standard WRX one somewhere but doubt you'd want to go quite that quiet !! I may have this wrong but did I read somewhere recently that maybe Arch and/or RS Grant may have standard ones lying about ?? Take it you're checking over scoobynet too.
-
I have prodrive springs on my Blob and they're fine, closes the wheel to wheel arch gap sufficiently along with still acceptable firmness. When I looked in to it before getting them fitted others mentioned e.g. teins which are tad lower (think) and firmer (to point some would say not nice ride on a daily runner) which I didn't want - comes down to personal choice to an extent.
-
Without knowing the year/model car, initial thoughts are wouldn't be worthwhile. You could replace some bits, e.g. various exhaust sections, without needing a remap then when you get to a stage where it does need a remap + maybe some other mods to get fitted it'll feel more worthwhile?? Have a read through this for costs. http://www.andyforrestperformance.co.uk/16280.html

Also : Scoobyworld - £40 (excl. delivery), carbon fibre one £80 Scoobyparts - £35 (excl delivery), zero sports one £70 would one be better than another or is it just that they're doing a basic job of keeping cool air in ?
-
Are the Radiator Cooling panels (the panels that stop as much air escaping through the gaps created between the radiator and slam panel) any use ? Looking in to a couple of cosmetic engine changes and wondered if a worthwhile addition or not ??

Good stuff. Nice numbers, and most importantly you're pleased with how it runs. Reckon you can now update your signature comment at the bottom of your posts ?? -
