About UK300_loon

  1. thanks for the replies so far The towbar mounted system sounds the best on terms of being car friendly, my old man used to have this set up on his 405 back in the day, but unless it was able to be fully hidden I just couldn't do it. Thule roof bars look like the way I would go. How quickly can they be fitted? Would it be chore to fit them then remove every time you go a run on the bike? Also, has anyone noticed them chafing the paint/window seals at all? Cheers again, Al.
  2. Hi all, I'm looking to get back into mountain biking, so was wondering if anyone could recomend a good bike carrier. I'm running an RB5 at the moment with an eye for possibly changing in the near future (only maybe), so experience/recomendations of car friendly bike carriers to suit all models of Impreza would be much appreciated. Including the classic 4-dr as I still may keep hold of my RB5! Worried about damaging the car more than anything else. Cheers, Alan.
  3. Nice one. Every time I visit my brother and his family over in OZ it certainly gets harder to find reasons for why I'm not out there myslef. And thats usually only for 3 weeks at a time I can manage, never mind 5 months! The grass is most definitely greener in this case. So, decision time it is for the RB5 then..........does it stay and get the treatment or do I move on already? I'll keep you posted and no doubt have umpteen questions about the spec of the build if thats the route I'm going to go down. Cheers again, Al.
  4. Yeah, I was at the rally last weekend, superb day! first actual snow rally i've caught and it didn't dissapoint. I'm running an RB5 these days, that was my old car though. My mate Douge bouht it off me at the tail end of last summer. Its back up for sale already as he's is going travelling for a year if you know anyone looking. Al.
  5. Russell, wasn't forgetting about you, definatley would point my mate in your direction but didn't think you were back yet. April your back.........I'll see how things are going with my RB5, a 2.5 could well be on the cards. Bet you've already got a crowd of folk battering your door down looking to get some work done. Al.
  6. Hi, I've got a mate who has juts bought his first Scoob and he's looking for some advice on where to get his car serviced in or around the Aberdeen area. Although I'm in Aberdeen myself I make the trip down to AWD whenever I need any work done so haven't been much help to him. Any recomendations would be much appreciated. Cheers, Alan.
  7. ouchy, rotten timing just before Xmas. Try Ian Ross in Luncarty (just outside Perth 1st turning off the A9 as you head North from the Inveralmond roundabout). If you can speak to Ian himself, let him know you're looking for a top job. He's pretty good price wise too.
  8. would look even better sitting on my lovely (super light) OZ's I have for sale. "local loon" discount would have applied too.......
  9. aye, done. Nice set of issue number reg plates and an RB5 decal set have just arrived through the post. The plates are spot on, nice and subtle but with your own issue number in the bottom corner. Already a lot more excited about this car than the last somehow. Will hopefully manage to source a set of the original 17" Speedlines soon then i'll be even happier. Loving the colour too. Will have to take some more pics now that i've given it its first detailing session. chuffed.
  10. Hi Ciaran, smart looking example you have there. I'm a real sucker for a special edition and have always loved the RB5, never thought i would end up with one though. I remember drooling over a mint WR sport parked at a rally stage the other year. Mine is #264 Wallybazoom's old car from the RB5 forum. Flew down and drove it all the way back from Kent! 11 hrs later, thank you redbull. Looking forward to getting it just how I want. I'm a bit of a freak when it comes to my car. Original and mint looking with a few subtle touches but packing a punch is the plan. cheers for the comments guys!
  11. My UK300 is sold. A new house is iminant now and the need to free up a bit of cash for exciting stuff like carpets and white goods means my first Scoob had to go. Got an offer out the blue from a good mate, and couldn't refuse really. Went out with a tick sheet for a new practical car, had to be: - cheaper to buy - cheaper to run - cheaper to insure - hatchback / estate - more mpg - newer car - no nasty hidden bills lurking round every corner So I somehow ended up with this................ oops.
  12. Here ya go. The Eibachs give a slight nose down ar*e up stance, helps turn in. cheers, Al.
  13. I had a set of standard fitment Prodrive mats in my UK300. Good quality and the only mats to have in a Scoob, but I'm picky that way. £30 is a crackin' price, these are £60 usually and £35 for the boot liner. Is this offer still available as I was just about to buy a set for my RB5 at full whack. cheers, Al.
  14. PIAA all the way for me. didn't think I could get excited about a set of wiper blades till I bought these, sad eh!
  15. aye, they're a top bunch down at AWD. They've seen me right on numerous occasions now, wouldn't dream of taking my Scoob anywhere else!
