Very nice looking example - enjoy !
-
Nice lookin car you have there. A front splitter eh...bets as to how long it'll last seeing how low it is already !? De-tango by the way.
-
Think they are okay actually. Perhaps not have the www. address ! Quite liked the ones on the blue car in the background of the second pic too.
-
...and pay for it. Right, fast road from elsewhere and pay for it = even wear and good road holding. Got it...hopefully !
-
So if I get prodrive springs fitted should I go with the prodrive set up (presume this is what the Subaru garage will put on it when they fit them?) or should I get the fast road set up from elsewhere, e.g. Hypertech ? Like the sound of the tyres evenly wearing down through use, makes sense to me !
-
Not for me but appreciate the pic and a look at what it does look like.
-
Wet sanding , that's not for the beginner, you must have done this before ! Results look excellent, well done. Said it many a time before, and likely will again, black comes up so nicely, always have a grin on my face when the final stage is complete and you stand back and admire the shine. Nice pic of the gold fleck too, can never seem to get that on my camera !!
-
So is it the Fast Road geometry set up that's suggested as good for day-to-day use ?
-
Good info to hear Scooby Doom. CTS was probably 3rd choice, think it'll stay there after your comments. The Redlines are nice enough, fairly popular choice. Quite liked the polished face look have to admit. paul555sti, saw those but unfortunately 17's, and white which just don't see going well with a black car.
-
Hmm. Not sure about those. White wheels on black car, not sure that'd look right !
-
Is that what you have on ?
-
Depending on the size (18's) and colour, but no. Been keeping an eye out for a bargain but nothing much doing.
-
Been looking at finally getting sorted out with a new set of alloys. I have a black newage so even colour suggestions would be listened to. Narrowed it down to : Rota GRA - the Skidz pic of this wheel looks very nice. Inovite Tarmac - nice enough wheel but quite a few around. Priced better than GRA's. Inovite CTS - not even heard this one mentioned before, suspicious of how cheap this is quoted at against others - is it not a strong or nice looking wheel ?? Opinions on all 3 as not really that familiar with them, not seen too many on other folks cars. Drawn to these particular ones as seems to be choice of Subaru owners, plus I like the look of them ! Also, which tyres? I don't really push the tyres to their limit so it is a comprimise I guess I'm looking for between ability / miles out of set / grip in dry & wet / price. Of the performance tyres think it'd be Yokohama Parada's I'd go for but is there a cheaper good alternative? Oh, and of course, end of the day the cost comes in to it !

Accidents do happen but it shows what a garage is really like in these awkward situations if they can keep the customer, who will hopefully return in the future, happy. If you don't ask you don't get, it is an inconvenience to the owner so why not expect to be compensated in some way. In-laws were due to get their brand new car yesterday, garage phoned 30minutes before they left to say it had a "small scratch" on it. They went over to the garage to see it - big crack in the bumper where something had reversed in to it. Their solution - can fix it but it's a whole new bumper and small piece of bodywork needs sprayed...in-laws reply rightly "don't want it at all knowing it's been damaged!" Garages next solution - you can have a car meant to be for pre-reg in 2 weeks time, but due to the way you were buying (some company finance deal) the damaged one we can't offer the same price, it'll cost you £400 more ! So they're responsible for the damaged one and their solution is you pay more for a replacement - aye, very good "don't think so"! New solution(s) due today !!

Sure it was very dirty before, no before pic!, so well done. Looks good to me.
-
What do you do to stop the sun drying in the polish ? Is it as simple as just covering smaller areas before buffing ? I feel silly always turning the car around to be in the shade ! Be good to see the finished waxed/sealed article.

Actually was half considering Golf GTi as my wifes next car, but just don't get those tartan seats. Nice cars an all but I was surprised by even 2nd hand price tags. R32 just seems like a petrol gusling monster, and even scarier a price tag. My last car was a Civic Type-R, totally different to drive -v- a Scoob. Have to admit the kick at 6k revs was brilliant, was sad to see that car go, although the wet was hairy with no tc. Wife prefers driving the Scoob (uses it more than her own car just now!!). My sister had the new CTR and it was less hairy to drive but felt it had lost the drivers involvement a bit, still quick but not to the same feeling level. Much more comfortable inside. Stick with it Cal, mod other things until the warranty runs out !

Hat off to you Iain, that's dedication. One things for sure it'll be getting done right....perfection might be a suitable word ! All this dry weather must be a big help to getting the time to get it done.

Depends on things like car use, time of year as to how dirty roads are and products used. Reckon along lines of : Claybar - once every 6 months or so (I try for spring and just before winter) Machine polish only when it needs it, even if once/twice a year (less the better considering what your doing to the paint). Get in to that two bucket method plus get a good quality wash mitt and that cuts down on the swirls/scratches. A good quality car wash liquid also. Wax as often as you like, but once every two months is good. Can get top up to your wax to maintain the look which makes it sparkle every week or so and last longer also. Agree there is a lot of effort but as scoobyiain says the more spent at the start the less is needed to keep it looking good week after week.....although 30hours "so far", wow !!

Was going to say Colzo did a lovely engine bay clean up a while back...and there he appears. Just no no no to pressure washing, push water where it shouldn't go. Not sure if anyone else has mentioned it but try not have the engine bay facing strong (ocassionally we get that in Scotland!) direct sunlight as you don't want gunk/etc to dry in. Good luck, will look good I'm sure, get the pics up on the finished article.

Good work, looks nice n clean. Take it they got there on time !!
-
Cheers. I won't laugh, I'll be the same. Either a print off from multimap or satnav to get me there. Bonnybridge I'm fine getting to, just not a place I've been in very much..once I think.
-
Can someone let me know the contact number for Hypertech. Not on yell.com and their website is timing out. Might finally be taking the plunge - getting advice and figures together for a couple of handling changes.
-
Aye no bad Mike Aye, okay, looks good. Congrats on winning. Better not enter myself now so soon, can't have PB looking like there's favouritism for Scoobys now could we !! Mine is in desperate need of a detail but I just can't get the time I need to get stuck in to it properly till the end of the month. Was the bodywork swirly or did the 106 take it all out and polish it up at same time ?
