We were down there on Sunday for a marshal training day and were very impressed with the huge amount of work going on to improve the circuit. Both toilet blocks near the finish line are getting refitted. The whole hillside from the paddock upwards is getting resurfaced - a lot to do in the next week and a bit though!!! The old cabins in the paddock have been dragged away and there is (so far) a nice new 2 story admin block going up - we were told that this included an excellent medical centre - larger than Brands? Also picked up a rumour that one of the catering folk wasn't going to be there this year. Track wise, there is a lot more gravel down - deeper where it used to be, plus a bit more extended in a few places. Hope to be able to wave to you guys from our side of the fence - we're both doing Sunday, but as Chrissy is working on Monday I'm spending most of Sat eve / Sum morn driving home & back down. Finally, a reminder that the A2 central reservation is very solidly blocked off, so southbound convoys need to go down to the lights and circle back up - I think the signage pushes you down to the second set.

Black 07 plate early Sunday morning (about 7:30 ish) M2 from Medway bridge down to Faversham or beyond. I was the blue wagon in your mirrors from time to time - nice little run, but wasn't rushing 'cos we had a long day at Lydden ahead before a very long drive home again Cheers, David & Chrissy
-
Thanks for a nice friendly evening folks - amazing how busy the curry house was for a quiet Tuesday evening. Nice easy run each way for us, and even a mini convoy for part of the way home Cheers, David & Chrissy P.S> Rob - that Jalfrezi would have sorted your man flu out matey

Probably marsalling on this one - if not I might well turn up on your side of the fence Just picked up this news in my mailbox from the rally boys : Hayfisher Announced as TV Coverage Provider for 2008 Hayfisher are to film all six meetings which make up the Kumho Tyres/MSA British Rallycross Championship for first screening on Motors TV. A 46 minute programme will feature action and highlights from all categories in the MSA, BRDA and BTRDA Rallycross Championships. After the initial broadcast up to four repeats can be expected. Motors TV is on Sky Channel 413 and on Virgin Media channel 545. Worcestershire-based Hayfisher are one of the Country's leading independent television production houses with a long history in making motorsports and other specialist programmes for the majority of terrestrial and satellite broadcasters. Just been sent a reminder and copies of all the forms by Amy from Lydden - forms are already on http://www.bhpperformanceshow.com so no point in reposting them here They seem really keen to get cars on the stands - fiver for driver & car, but a tenner for passengers - pays to take a car each. Cheers, David

So true! When the previous wagon got wiped out, I got to drive around in Chrissy's C3 turbo diesel for a few days, and then in a poxy yaris hire car for a couple more weeks. Same old me at the wheel, driving the same roads etc, but found that so many more other drivers were total gits. About the only good point was the lack of chavs in corsa / nova / golf etc trying to take you on. I too, found myself being nicer to some of these folk when the new monster was back on the road - trouble is some really aren't capable of being helped by mr nice guy at times. Wilky - go try it again in a battered old transit and see what the plonkers try on you this time Cheers, David

If you need any local recce help before your dry run, then shout out Andy! You certainly can't trust the Shell site to lead you to the right fuel - similarly with some of the sat nav POI data - Hilton Park is supposedly hosting Shell & BP both sides of the motorway The one thing to know for sure is that Banbury has no shell anywhere near - even some that seem ok within 15 miles or so are a beggar - the A34 SW bound from M40 J9 will send you halfway to Oxford before you can turn around and head back. I would guess that your last motorway fill-up would be about 80 miles before reaching Prodrive, and the run back north may be a similar distance before you link up with one on the motorway. Hopefully some of the Banbury locals can give us heads-up on camera locations and favourite mobile spots as time gets closer. If nobody closer offers themselves, I'll check out any locations down this way that might help with the master plan Cheers, David

Play safe and get it booked whether you're tent or hotel, there is quite heavy booking in the area due to BTTC running at Silverstone all weekend. I'm busy pushing some local sites, hotels, curry houses etc. into sat-nav databases - http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=POIs - if you go there and pretend to submit a new site, you can actually use it as a map / POI tool to browse an area. Cheers, David

Must be the Cropredy Festival then! Managed to get to a semi-private gig in late 2005 that the guys did in the Church to raise money for the bell restoration - magic evening with a load of Fairport Convention goodies getting sold too. Cheers, David

Hi mate, I assume that it's your insurance company who have told you his details were false & the vehicle uninsured? If so they presumably have a mechanism for flagging the incident into DVLA etc. It might be worth going back down to your police station and explaining again (bound to be a different person) and asking advice - you ought to also ask them whether your problem will lead to the vehicle being flagged in some way to increase the chance of it being ANPR spotted and indicating that he tells porkies so shouldn't be trusted to give correct details if they do tug him? Be really nice and play a mixture of helpless victim and fine upstanding citizen!! DVLA records seem to confirm the HPI stuff, but it is taxed for another 10 weeks. At least S 830 MMO does show as a Silver Vauxhall Astra - thats S830MMO for any search engines in the future http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPortal...?SKIN=directgov It used to be possible to obtain details of registered keeper (name & address) from DVLA for just such legitimate situations this (pursuing damages from an accident - not him about to fall down the stairs - I suggest giving DVLA a call on 0870 240 0010, even if things have been tightened up due to all the identity theft problems - you should be able to get them to note their system to show that the scrote was involved in RTC and gave false details. They might then be concerned that he'll not pay them in April? It might even be worth giving a bell to your local Citizens Advice Bureau - they have all sorts of helpful information and are bound to have come across this problem before. The Royal Mail page has a postcode / address checker http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm which gives this :- 21 Swingate Lane LONDON SE18 2DA If that matches the postcode the dude gave you, then it's pretty certain that he has some links to that address - anyone can make up an address, but you don't know the postcode without having some sort of link with the place! If you're fairly local why not take a drive around there in the wee hours when most folk are parked up at home or nearby? If the are looks ok, then visiting the address and explaining to the occupants that their address was used by this scrote may get you somewhere too - make it look like you're doing them the favour by letting them know and they might mention it happening before or even say it's that little git from round the corner .... http://www.houseprices.co.uk/e.php?q=SE18+2DA&n=100 shows no recorded house sales for number 21 Take a look at http://www.aboutmyplace.co.uk - give it the postcode, go for birds eye view, zoom in and then try all 4 compass points - you might just spot a silver astra on the streets nearby (my eyes are too old to cope with that). Might be worth posting up any other personal details he gave, plus searching the net for his name etc just in case someone else had a similar run-in with him. Also by getting all his docs posted up on this forum & then it will get indexed by google - this will be there for anyone to find in the future If all else fails, then a few tips for the future - always make sure you are given a postcode as well as address - check them as soon as you're home and at least you will have an early warning of a problem. Also, use your phone to take a few pictures of the damage and make sure the scrote happens to be in the background of some of them. Good luck David PS If you do find out where he really lives, how about a Kent Scoobies meeting outside his gaff

Sorry mate, we're both away for the day at Mallory Park doing some marshalling training stuff all day - have a good 'un and take care of that little (big!) bump

No mistake Andy - I've just checked his profile and your eyes don't deceive you Heck, it'll take Ian weeks to post back up to the big ten k again brilliant, I had to just grab a screen dump to preserve for posterity.

The Beeb are a bunch of "bleep" - some idiot must think that Colin was just a minor local celeb instead of someone admired across the whole of the UK & way beyond. This is only available to you fine folk in the north - the rest of us get the film starting at 6:05 (you wait until 7:05) http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctwo/listings/index...&day=sunday I've let rip at the Beeb via http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/make_complaint_step1.shtml - feel free to join in and demand a rebroadcast or to make it available to view on line. Cheers, David

Brilliant - now we just need Andy to hook this in with his anti- Pee Emm routine!!

Oi, at 53+25 we average 39 which is just less than you, although I can't hardly even remember being 40
