  1. Sh1t, thank goodness your lad wasn't still in the car - if he scared the cr4p out of you, hate to think how it would have affected him! Can't be that many scoobs on the island for this to be you mistaken for someone else that he had a grudge against? Hope Mr Plod can show an interest - might have left a chunk of number plate at the roundabout when he hit you, or maybe some camera evidence on one of the junctions? Cheers, David
  2. I should be at the Oxon meet in May, if that's any good to you? October 2004 WRX wagon with PPP fitted at 1k service Cheers, David
  3. As well as being a bank holiday weekend, Sunday 27th is the scoobylive event at Elvington, York. We're not going to Japfest, but still like the idea of a lazy wind-down day. BBQ on Sunday 20th sounds ok - pick a layby or find a field with the gate unlocked? Cheers, David & Chrissy
  4. If you dare to say NO then the ball and chain will get attached somewhere else, then thrown over the side of a high bridge [:'(] Have a great day - hope all the guests bring you RB320s instead of toasters [G]
  5. See you at the May meet - safe trip back [ap] Cheers, David & Chrissy
  6. Scottish crew are going for it big time http://forums.sidc.co.uk/forums/thread/931877.aspx so we may just make it a bidding war? Up to a big £155 with 10 hours left to go.. Don't forget that somehow the little beast has got to get from Yorkshire all the way to it's new owners - a tank of fuel each way unless someone happens to be up there in a big car / van while at work.
  7. The Kent mob are thinking of getting it as a club mascot - http://forums.sidc.co.uk/forums/thread/931295.aspx They've thought of storage, but it needed you guys to think about the mess it would leave - don't even think about that beastie raising one leg .... Looks like the seller is a scoobie owner - not enough detail to recognise the car from the photos though? Cheers, David
  8. Chrissy & myself have each paid for a session, so the wagon is going to get double hammering - poor tyres. One of our local (Newport Pagnell) mates is Doug in the MGB - it's way old, but he loves to tinker with it & thought he'd come along and give it some working out before he uprates some of the bits - then come back and try it out again. When he drives some of our back roads that he grew up on, he's tough to keep up with!! We'll have to swap piccies via mobile with Craigy or Kaz on Sunday afternoon?
  9. Ain't we all entitled to blow our motors up whenever[:'(] - Here's hoping that none of us get your pod style bad luck - we'll have to admire your rebuild next month.
  10. Nope - I'm on the Oxon / Bucks Scoobies go burning up north weald airfield list [] http://forums.sidc.co.uk/forums/thread/861095.aspx Have a good meet - see you at the next one when the Falklands branch rep returns!
  11. Looking forward to north weald, see you there! - enough of us there to make up a mini Oxon meet anyway! Cheers, David & Chrissy
  12. 1. SHESCOOBY & Co 2. pinky-lad & co 3. Dave T 4. 5. Sorry - no can do this month - we're thrashing around North Weald on the track training day all Sunday Looking forward to the next one (20th May?) - hope BigD makes it home in time with some pet penguins [] Cheers, David & Chrissy
  13. Some good background / technical stuff at http://www.pneus-online.co.uk/tyre-technical-advice.html I'm about the shred my Michelin Pilots on a track day and then plan to jump up from 225/45/17 on 8" rims to try out 235/40/17 - fancy giving Falken a try this summer. toyo Snowprox 215/45/17 now back in the garage after 7500 winter miles and only worn down by 2mm from new since november
  14. Maybe not such a good guess by me then [:$] Interesting that the filter doesn't detect an edited post as a date change - off to make a posting forecasting the 1st 10 positions in the next rounds of WRC, plus Eurovision & the Grand National, then just wait until the results are in and edit my posts to look perfect [][] Meanwhile a reminder of the events thread - http://forums.sidc.co.uk/forums/thread/872991.aspx
  15. The new forum software defaults to show threads that are up to 2 months old - as the list hasn't been edited since early January, it vanishes despite being pinned as a sticky. The fix for us is to keep changing the 2 month setting to longer each time - or change that default on your main profile. I suspect if Granby edited the post, then it would pop back up for us all until the middle of May?
  16. I love the look of some fully graphic'ed cars, but my concern isn't the effect that they would have on resale - as others have said, they can come back off (hopefully not leaving a shadow?). My worry would be that it makes you more of a target - keying in a car park and extra attention on the road from plonkers and from those very nice gentlemen with blue lights on their roof (or just hidden behind the grill[] sometimes). What did you stickered up folk find from that angle?
  17. Good to hear from you Iain, I was hoping it was technology letting you down, not that you were so cold you couldn't type[] If you are inside the last 60 days, that should mean that you make the May meet, presumably 20th May, so I might even try to wash the car to celebrate your return. Good to see that you're up for JAE, seem to be quite a few clusters gathering - Kip's mob, Bucks & now Oxon should be pretty spectacular. Cheers for now - give a penguin a hug from Chrissy[:$]
  18. love the idea of asking them to come alone - hopefully tweaked to along in the final version[]
  19. phone up and ask for a change to the V-Power card - I got mine automatically when they moved up from Optimax. The bonus points are better, so go for it. Any V-Power folk get a nice A4 collectors card today in the post?
  20. A bit of a laugh, but was actually good to see a "rich man's motor" being driven with a bit of enthusiasm rather than by an old crumbly who can't even steer properly
  21. Got stuck behind one yesterday - pretty little rear wing pops up at about 60, but he didn't seem used to seeing people catch him up to look at it - even more p155ed off when I was stuck behind him all the way to the next roundabout [:'(]
  22. Depends what sort of advanced driving you're looking for? IAM is worth a go for road work - take what you want from the training and skip the test if that's your preference. ROSPA do a more complex choice of courses that IAM - all sorts of different badges if you like the bureaucracy. If you're looking for tack based tuition, then give some of Stormy's sessions a try. If you want more advanced track or road stuff, it would probably pay to be pretty specific about what you're looking for and hope someone has taken that path before you. Try chatting to Ben Elliott - he was the tutor at the Arundel track training days - http://www.benelliottracing.com/ - I'm sure he's happy to train up for road or track stuff. Lives in Chichester area now, but pops home to mum in Leighton Buzzard, so could be local enough for you? Cheers, David
  23. I think moving from the Sunday 18th is sensible - can't do the day before, but then we're booked up for quite a few days with all sorts of stuff
  24. Good point Mr B - that will mean that all tables will be fully booked and we'll starve! Do we stick with the date and eat crisps, or ought we switch the dates?
