  1. Good idea - A big hi to Iain - hope the penguins are an adequate replacement for our company? - better not answer that[] Cheers, David & Chrissy
  2. seems to be just some functions that are struggling - to read this was as quick as usual, but it took several goes to evbentually load the "My forums" listing
  3. We've always got a stock of Phil's SIDC recruitment postcards in the glovebox to capture new folk and parked up scoobs with, have you seen them? Although they are a handy size, I can see a business card being useful too - plus getting them into the Kent section of course[] btw isn't the old kentscoobies website dead & gone nowadays?
  4. Shame you left out sections 1 to 9 - this looks really interesting [] Skip most of the exemption clauses and descriptions and cut to the chase - If the vehicle was made after 1985 you need slightly clearer glass in the windscreen than elsewhere. It applies to all the glass that the driver can look through directly or via "regulation" mirror - likely to mean all unless you drive a long limo scoob or a bus scoob. If the glass has certain BS or similar markings, then it has been manufactured to comply & you shouldn't need further proof of compliance. If the tint is other than BS type glass, you've got loads of measuring and hassle!! Consider some exemptions - is the scoob carrying the prime minister or a big stash of gold? In Real Life, it means that if you get stopped and checked, the nice man with the measuring gadget will probably have all the answers and you'll lose [:'(]
  5. Do the pub need us to book, or were they happy to just cope however many show up?
  6. See the big list at http://forums.sidc.co.uk/user/Members.aspx...p;sb=4&so=1 - you'd better watch out for that number 12 if he wants your title[] Me? I need about another 250 to get my third little blob, rank amateur[:$]
  7. So attendees so far are 1. SHESCOOBY & CO 2. Samco 3. DaveT 4. Racing Snake 5. Pinky Lad 6. Mr H 7. Scooby300girl 8. HairyDJ (arrive just after 12:00) - no Chrissy, she's working[] 9. GiboMan 10. Wimpy& Crew 11.JKScoob 12.
  8. Echo the big thanks to Shiralee - when's the next one then? Still not sure how they got the bill to be that low - I thought we were in for a lot more than that. Very confusing drive back up the M2 - Dunks had eaten the Vindaloo, but the flames kept popping out of Granby's rear end [:^)] Could have done without the M1 north being a big queue though - just managed to swing off at Hemel and go cross country for an hour, good test of the winter tyres with it being minus 3 outside. Thanks again for the great company - totally daft to drive 220 miles for a curry, but it was worth it. Cheers, David & Chrissy
  9. Good to hear something is working out for you - just get a nice big SIDC logo in the old Punto & we'll realise who's waving[]
  10. Nice balance between making it interesting and overloading it with stuff. I particularly like the style of saying these are some pictures, without telling us the blooming obvious - this is a muddy hole with a bit of pipe in it etc. I found it quite strange when the odd page was slow to load & showed me white (unreadable) text on a primrose background until the full page detail completed loading. As you're keen / happy to take on some nit-picking minor points, I'd offer these :- The 2 trade association or whatever logos near the bottom ought to be linked to the professional body - I am not an expert in your work area and have no idea what they mean, so being able to click on them and be taken to the relevant site would be useful. I assume that the first link ought to be http://www.ukstt.org.uk/ but when I go there you are not shown in their list of members. The second logo is hard to read and I'm not too sure what it's trying to tell me? Turning to the top area, my computer displays the text on the yellow buttons a bit fuzzy - maybe a change of font might help? Looking at the html code, i see that a lot of the page is not actually text, but is made up from lots of .jpg images - the sharpness may be due to a lack of sharpness in the stored .jpg files? One big change that I would urge is to alter the title - currently if I bookmark the page it gets saved as "Home" - you really need to change this to "Hydro Force" or something even more descriptive. If someone bookmarks your site you need to make sure that they find it again in a hurry! My final thoughts are the tiniest of detail - you have a bit of a mixture of odd capital letters in mid sentence and in one line you haven't got a capital F in Force. It's always worth taking web page text and pasting it into word, then running the strictest of spelling & grammar checkers across it. A bonus tip that doesn't affect the look of the web page would be to try and include some keywords in the actual html of the page that will help the various search engines and indexers to associate your page to those words. If any of this is of help, then you're very welcome - but if you'd rather keep things as currently, then don't feel obliged to try any of my thoughts [:#] It's your livelihood & Ii don't want to mess that up for you [*-)] Cheers, David P.S. I've dropped a couple of other bits to you in a PM
  11. Sounds like a good idea - anyone else daft enough to be driving down from Milton Keynes? [] Seriously, would love to join a convoy, but Friday night traffic on the M25 is going to be way too hard to predict being anywhere at a set time. Dave if your going on Fri it will be a lonely meal for you !!! They are going on Sat 3rd feb [] Shall I try to convince you we're leaving that early for such a long trip? Nah - I never know what day it is (unless matron tells me when she changes the sheets). Chrissy escapes from work at 4 so we hope to let out of MK as the clock strikes 5 - good run can get us to Lyminge in 2 hours, but a bad run doubles that. Who cares how long it takes to get home though if we've had a great evening out.

  13. If the breakers will be taking her apart for bits, rather than a back-street rebuild, they may be happy to take the original items in their current unattached condition? Hope they give you enough left over for the curry night and some drowning the sorrows liquid[^o)] We get regular threads about how cheap we can get insurance quotes, maybe we should run one on how quickly they settle up and whether they are tightwads or generous? Liverpool Victoria (aka CSMA Frizzells) were quick and reasonable on price when they wrote mine off a couple of years ago, but then they are hitting me for a grand with full guaranteed NCB.
  14. awful start to the new year mate. think long and hard before you change to another car - you obviously pushed yourself hard to get this one and it will be so tough driving back and forth in a cheap & nasty replacement which you will hate because it reminds you of the lost scooby. See what quote you get for repairs, but also look at doing just enough to keep it safe & legal - that might mean dropping back to your old lights until the cash situation improves, but if you can live with a car that isn't going to stay quite as pretty as it was for a while then go for it. If you do keep it running, save the big right foot for special occasions - keeping the motorway cruising a bit slower and steady really does make a difference - if i can behave for a whole long run, fuel consumption is halved on mine. If you back off on the blasting, the tyres & brakes will last a fair bit longer and again might see you through to better financial times. strictly speaking, you have to inform your insurance company whether you claim or not so you might do best to go for the claim & if they insist on writing it off, buy back the write-off. Whatever way you go, take care to think through all of the stages and consequences as you really can't afford to start down one route and end up having to change plans part way through. Mine got written off a couple of years ago - I know how it feels to keep looking back and saying what if .... You're not going to be smiling much for a while, but do try to find a few upbeat thoughts to cling to - you didn't injure yourself or anyone else, and whatever happens you are still part of an elite crowd who have owned a scooby - a hell of a lot of people will never be able to say that. Cheers, David

  16. Craig m8 - I'm sure half the reason you've felt so welcome is the way you've got involved. Chatting in the forum, posting up all that cute pink car stuff [] - competition for Kaz! as well as turning up to events. There are some who have arrived in the forum and made loads of noise, but we seem to have been really lucky in the Beds, Bucks & Oxon crowd to have seen newbies in the forum coming along to the meets - and coming back for more!! Need to get you along to a track training day, or the full blast sometime - we've just got back from Arundel & simply wouldn't have got close to going if the forum & the local groups hadn't been good people to be around. Cheers, David & Chrissy
  17. Well den Surr, Dere were deze chaps ringin' me doorbell who just heppen'd to be in der area surr, wid a bit of tarmac spare from anodder job .... sorry, I didn't think to ask them for their business card or office phone number [] Good luck with a real quote - jobs like this are so much more comfortable if you can get a recommendation instead of pot luck
  18. nice one! But which of those two young men would you rather be? I think we need a vote[6]
  19. What do you mean dave?? Go to edit your original message, or click on quote for the original message. Then click on the html button next to the spelling icon. If you look at that data - don't try to decode all of it - you will see all sorts of headers, footers, ad links and all the stuff with incrediblahblah in it. You will also see quite a lot of information about where the message incoming to you (from one of your mates via IM or email?) was stored on your local machine. I just hate bits of software that "help" just a little bit more than you are aware of ... If you google for incredimail spyware problems you will find a lot of whinges but also a lot of "wow it's brilliant and i don't work for them honest!!" type fightbacks. It does appear to be very hard to remove and keen to store all sorts of info about your activity. Cheers, David
  20. Just 'cos there are pink bits & you've quoted a tag line awfully like SHESCOOBY's you aren't suggesting that Kaz & Dave on the bike are you? Cracking pic, but take a look at the html of your message and you'll see just how much your incredimail software is "helping" with your emails!
  21. It's always looked so tempting in every true grip advert. The web site does mention group discount for 5 or more, plus cheap car hire from the airport (if you don't mind old - 5+ years) cars. Flights seem to include dan dare from Stansted and then a 2 hour local drive. http://www.norwaydirect.co.uk/discover/getting-to-norway.asp Now, if i saved up all of my trackday and curry money for a year .......
  22. 1. Shiralee 2. Granby 3. Baser999 4. Dunks 5. trevor 6. Yogi & terri 7. Loony Toon 8. Hol and Lady Hol 9. deani_age 10. Daniel + Daniela 11. Q Dog & Sophie 12. HairyDJ & Chrissy Chrissy won't get in from work until 5:30, so we might be last there[sn], but you're worth it[]
  23. Hi Iain, If the offer is still on, I'll pop over to Wendover to pick them up and give you your 50 squids[] Won't be able to join in the Herts part though, as i'll need to belt back to MK and feed somebodies horsie while she's at work. Cheers, David
  24. Piccies look good Iain, I'm happy to wait to pick ours up at the next meet, but if you want the dosh before then, drop me a PM with your address & I'll get a cheque off in the post. Cheers, David & Chrissy
  25. Must be a pretty good way to see the New Year in, I reckon! Glad you had a good one - all the best to you for 2007 - hope the next few months just whizz by & see you before too long Cheers, David & Chrissy
