  1. Look forward to marshalling for you guys again next year - hope we get a dry meeting at sillystone this time, as that wet was awful! Cheers, David
  2. Yep, go for McGuard - but please keep a good record of the key code as McGuard Germany can replace very quickly (and much cheaper) compared to other sources, but only with the code! Got mine from one of the club supporters - scoobyparts near Bedford, and got a wee discount when I called in to see them - very helpful chap is Tim http://www.scoobyparts.com
  3. Usual idea with all of the regional shirts is that the colour is the same for all - just wander over to Essex and brace yourself for the wall of pink
  4. Sorry boss, Chrissy has got her next set of hours through and is working 2pm to midnight, so we'll have to give this one a miss. Hopefully we'll manage the next one (once you've decided which is the best). Cheers, David
  5. great news - but you're both far too young to be grandparents
  6. Event timetable / brochure now published here http://www.bluewater.co.uk/contentimages/g...rogramme_AW.pdf
  7. If we can make whatever date you guys choose, then we'll be there. I notice that 20th Nov is children in need day - not sure if that means our cars will get covered in custard or something nasty
  8. We've gone all the way to Maidstone and to Cambridge for SIDC curry nights, so would love to head West for another one if we can make the date you choose Cheers, David & Chrissy
  9. I'll let you know Marshals are signing on about 13:00 and the final safety check runs will be around the 14:45 mark. JB does his thing from 15:00 to 16:15ish. Our payback for volunteering to marshal is supposed to be a private chat session with him at around 17:00. If you're there take the time to say hello if I'm on your part of the track - if not say hi to whichever orange romper-suiter is near you, as we're all such lovely folk Just need to find a shortcut out of Bluewater, as our marshal's meeting at Silverstone that evening is with the lovely Adrian Reynard talking about his rather fast cars - can't be late for that one! Cheers, David
  10. Well done Kim-The-Web-Mistress - it's easy for us to dive into our favourite bits, but the home page is our front window to new folk and it's good to see it looking lively.
  11. Have a great day What on earth are you both doing playing on SIDC today - you've got a birthday to celebrate Cheers, David & Chrissy
  12. sad news to hear of the damage. When mine had rear end insurance repairs done, i was able to get some other paintwork sorted at a good price while the car was in for the main job - well worth asking?
  13. Don't get too worried about mileage - there was a thread on here a long while back about top mileage with loads of folk way over 100k and still happy. I'm past 91k on the current wagon in just under 5 years. In my experience, it's not mileage that takes a scoob off the road, it's t055ers in golfs trying to drive right through your pride and joy
  14. glad to see you're already thinking about insurance - I'd suggest that you get a quote or two before you look at the car, you know the age / reg / mileage from the advert, so should be able to get a good feel for price. Some insurers are far happier than others when it comes to modded kit - worth finding out what got done to it and researching (use the scoobypedia link at the top of the page) a bit more about that specific model to understand how far from original it has been tweaked? Good Luck - and also back up the comments about Cotswold Subaru (a couple of miles to the north of Witney) - mine got home tonight after it's 90k service and it's always been there for service and repairs.
  15. Have fun & get a price for the Oxon crew to go play for a day (or just a half)
  16. Not a bad site, although a bit basic out on the rally area. Most stuff is run through the usual driving experience firms, so a bit of local snooping might cut them out and get direct to the local provider? The Russian racers were pretty spectacular last time, if folk fancy straying away from the rally track ..... Might also be worth picking Nige's brain to see if we'd get better value going slightly further north to Bill Gwynne's place near Brackley?
  17. profile shows he's not been on since 1st July, so it may be worth trying PM and hope that he's got email notification set? thought his last posting mentioned that he'd sold the old beastie?
  18. I'm not sure that there's any magic solution, and whilst your enthusiasm to keep us busy is great, don't let it get you down if we aren't all showing up to everything Summer weekends for me are almost always packed with marshaling, so I'm not going to make too much during the nice weather (unless a few of you fancy joining in of course!) The other problem for me is that it's a good hour's drive to reach you folk - I applaud Stu's idea of a bit of a blast, but heading out for another 100 miles or so takes most of the day & a tank full of fuel I would suggest that we try to have a regular (and therefore known well in advance) pattern of dates - it would also be smart to avoid weekends where our neighbours have their meets too. Hopefully, if we know the dates well in advance, that just leaves us to decide what we're going to do & where. Is one every month too many (or not enough!!) Event-wise, I normally like to get something to eat (before / during / after - or all 3), but not too fussed whether we try somewhere different each time, or try to build up a home base. Most places didn't seem that bothered whether we came regularly or not as Sundays were busy enough without us? I suspect that cost is also an issue - big events like Scooby Ball / Track days etc take a lot of cash (doubled if other half joining in too), but do folk fancy the odd "special", or are we better doing cheaper stuff more frequently? In previous years, some of the MK folk tried to meet up and go to the big firework display together - with a bit of a BBQ session thrown in - maybe you guys have got something similar in the area? Would there be enough takers if we could persuade the Cotswold Subaru folk to have a bit of an open day or similar - a lot of us use them and recommend them to others (plus the SIDC discount of course!) so they might be willing? Could also tie it in with a blackcircles fitting session as so many of us seem to discuss what tyres are best ..... Cheers, David
  19. Nice pics & cracking weather - some good shots of my chums in their orange romper suits too. Roll on next season ......
  20. Hi Emma, I'm sure it would help you to get a response or two if you actually gave us the date and the town that's involved - folk on here have helped out with similar requests in the past, but it really needs the appeal to be narrowly focused. You might do better with a more specific subject line too, as there are so many different sorts of appeal for help and most of us only read the posts that catch our eye. Hope it all goes well on the day - just a quick extra thought though, please don't offer (publicly at least) any payment for the help, as it would probably invalidate the driver's insurance Cheers, David
  21. Excellent news! Congrats and best wishes from us both - which scoob for the happy trip North to your folks then? Fozzy might be practical, but give her an early taste for some power! Cheers, David & Chrissy
  22. Hi Malc - welcome to SIDC. You've chosen the right body shape and the right colour (I'm not biased!). Be brave & add your rough location to your profile & you'll tend to get a few more personal welcomes when folk see that you're near them - start practising those waves Cheers, David
  23. Nice idea - sadly i sent my RBMR stuff off to somebody on here who was promising to produce a DVD of the event, and it vanished into a black hole. I think I have a clip (still on the Hi8 tape) of a 5 mile queue on the M40 trying to get off at Warwick for the McRae event - might not convince some folk to join us though I suspect that if you have a good speaker attached, then some of the annual tunnel run goodies will draw a crowd.
  24. I'll support these places whenever I can - I get a POI list for the sat-nav from this site - costs nothing to register and you can then add any that you know of to the database. Not only helps the drivers by improving the list, but also gives a wee "plug" to your favourites and helps get them more business to still be around for the rest of us. They are the same guys that the SWRT folk used to develop their RallyGB etc POI files for us. http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=POIs Whilst you're on there, check out the Subaru dealers list & Independent garages - add or correct your local ones if you can! Another site worth a look for truckers stops is at http://www.transportcafe.co.uk http://www.transportcafe.co.uk/cafelist.html http://www.transportcafe.co.uk/poi_transpo..._park_files.zip
  25. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/lancashire/8230264.stm Crash driver dies in second smash A driver who managed to right his overturned car after a crash in Lancashire, died moments later in a second collision. The man's Ford Focus was in a crash with a car at Longridge, near Preston, on Sunday night and was knocked on to its side. He got out, pushed the car on to its wheels and drove off, said police. His car then collided with a Subaru Impreza at Preston Road, Grimsagh, and the Focus driver was killed. The Impreza driver suffered serious injuries. He is in the intensive care unit at the Royal Preston Hospital, a Lancashire police spokesman said. An investigation is under way into the crashes Not a very lucky day for the focus driver! Hope the scoob driver makes a sound recovery.
