  1. hope they had the real owners at the wheel, given the number of problems in that area over the past few months!
  2. going well so far Ray ... didn't have you down as a grandad though you old #@#@
  3. Saw a scoob at the weekend (Princes Risborough) with a merc 3 pointed star over the proper badge
  4. or signing up for a track training day with Stormy & co If you're stepping up a fair bit to a scoob, then take a while to get to know it, then pad it out with a track day (with coaching) to find where 101% gets you To keep pushing, look at a Prodrive day at Warwick - it's their cars, brakes, tyres, fuel etc that get hammered, so costs in quite well.
  5. Have the evening off to enjoy yourself Mark
  6. Only you so far Rach good to have some banter on here without blood getting spilt for a change Only another couple of months of marshalling left this season, then maybe I'll manage to get to a meet and get grief in person? plus by then Ray will have his car to show off
  7. mines a 54 with PPP and was much better than it's predecessor - 51 without. I found the extra torque, that kicked in much sooner, meant better fuel consumption - probably because I didn't have to push as hard up the box Do find out if the rear shocks have been replaced recently as it's pricey and it's better if they've already paid for it. Mine were done every 35k approx. Don't worry too much about the mileage - mines clocked 105k since new, and I'd hope to double that Glad you put the colours in your list - means the ladies can vote too
  8. welcome to the winter club Your expert may be right when he says that the chunky tread should be best - but only on the worst of days! Get a quality tyre and remember that most of your winter miles will be on normal dry or wet tarmac, not a blizzard. Also, if you're only running this rubber for a few months, they'll last ages so cheapo stuff may not last as long?
  9. Baz - worth showing that page to your dealer and if no discount, then please let Stu know so that the list can be updated I think that throughout this thread, we've assumed that the discount you sought was for parts / service etc - I'm not aware of dealers who quote a SIDC discount on buying new cars if that's what you were hoping to find?
  10. most folk seem to order 4 "just in case" and I'm sure that WSR budget for a high proportion of no shows. I've got 4 spares too Not too many true motorsport fans seem to go - most are families jumping at a free day out. Dad gets full of ale, mum gets sunburnt and the kids run around unsupervised. Oh, and the traffic queues to get in and out are diabolical. Expect to pay a fortune for burgers and to queue for ages for food & loo too. I'm not saying don't go, just be prepared ...... I'm there both days in the orange romper suit, so if you do go then say hello
  11. Nice pics - lovely shots with the arch at Stowe - that's shortly going to become the main entrance for the tourists
  12. not a smart move with budget cuts needing reductions in staff the ironic bit will be if the scrote gets a brand new car and then a year's ban for drunk driving
  13. Why thank you chaps! Chrissy dragged me out for a nice lunch, so now sitting at home feeling far too full - but just room to reach the laptop and catch up on the goss Cheers, David
  14. looks like voting "1" for your closest rivals will bring their average down a bit too
  15. Wouldn't want to unduly influence the choices, given that we struggle to get out to play anywhere for a while If we do ever manage to meet up, we'd prefer somewhere with food - either lunch or evening. It's nice to build up a relationship with a particular venue, especially if we'd like a safe corner of the car park set aside, but some variety in location & food type might bump up the incentive to show up? Most groups seem to struggle to all make it at the same time, but it could be fun (and a nice public show) to meet up in one location and then a short (5-10 miles) convoy to the main meet & eat. The old Marston Moretaine to Dunstable run worked well, and the Herts folk used to run up & back to bucks meets. Being so heavily committed at weekends, I'd be keen to see a list of dates sorted for the year - rather than a few week's notice. Is every month overdoing it? Cheers, David & Chrissy
  16. If you've joined SIDC as a member, then you would get stickers in your welcome pack, but not every renewal. If you're only a forum user, then you're not actually a member of SIDC - just the forum
  17. Not many MK folk hang around on SIDC - just keep looking for a blue wagon and it might be me (or the other one)
  18. not seen anything else apart from the thread here http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtop...0&p=1373385
  19. not knocking your new run, but having special memories of the original RBMR means I'd not be inclined to join in. Prodrive have always been fantasic hosts to such events, so hope you have a good day
  20. hmmmm maybe something to do with all of us at the CAR-nival Lots going round and round and quite a few of us around the circuit marshalling You should have popped to see the fun & games
  21. We're out to play marshalling this event, but wondered if any of you local folk were coming to watch? Entry is pretty cheap - minimum charity donation of £3 http://www.abingdoncarnival.com/html/spectators.html http://www.abingdoncarnival.com/2010_Prog_Final.pdf The last few years, the rally winner has been an Impreza, and there's a good chance this year will be the same
  22. brace yourself Mark - need to sort out booking mine in for a biggie - just reached the magic 100k and all serviced by you folk throughout
  23. think you need to make the subject line more relevant chap - few people bother to read a message if the subject fails to catch their eye. Stick the place names in the subject for better luck hope somebody helps - way off my patch I'm afraid
  24. Sad enough to recognise that as Shoreditch church, so almost certainly a genuine capture? Chequerboards on the truck's side look like the official recovery agents. Usually hea*** breakdowns are dealt with by covered trucks to be discreet.
  25. goes very well? - bit of a modest understatement for your car
