After my disapointment at being unable to really pull away from my mates slightly modded Civic Type R, I have decided I need more power!! Andy F remap seems the way to go. Was looking for some advice. I have a MY00 Classic. Standard except for mid section decat and 3.5" magnex exhaust. So the questions are: What sort of increase in power can I expect? I have always been wary of putting to much power on the engine and something breaking. Is this something to be concerned with? Any opinions appriciated.[]

MY 00 Classic has only got a mid decat and 3.5" stainless steel exhaust. Standard apart from that. However, after a run at the weekend with my mate who has a 05 plate civic type r, I am thinking of some engine mods. Although I am confident of beating him confortably in the rain, and twisty roads, I was upset to see that I could not get away from him at all on the motorway, and he was always pretty close on the Dukes Pass, although it was a cracking day. Any advice would be good guys, thinking fuel pump and filter first!

Going to leave it as it is the now. Planning to trade it in early next year for a 04 plate ish, most likely a STI. Still raging about that golf though! LOL!

Bog standard UK 2000 Turbo except for a Decat mid section and 3.5" magnex tail pipe. Did not plan anything else, but I could not get away from a Golf 4Motion tonight. Right on my ass for 5 miles! Good to see that its 247bhp standard and 4 wheel drive. But I cant have a golf keeping me at bay again! Time to brake out the new Credit Card out and the 7k limit.....if the missus allows!

It annoys me this tracker insistance thing the big companys use. Lets face it, if you have a thatcham cat 1 alarm and immobiler, unless they are really good thieves the only way they will steal the car is with your keys! If the car is stolen and not reported for hours, very ofter that all these guys need to strip the thing down to a shell before the cops find it. My mate in work had his keys stolen for his evo8 when they broke into the house in the middle of the night. The keys were in his livingroom table, and they took them as he slept...scary! Insurance paid out right enough!

I know its down to finance's available, but I always pay up front. If you pay monthly you normally pay well over 10% apr. Hence why they appear cheaper compared to paying up front. You very often end up paying more!

If you have a tracker I got really good quotes from Elephant and privledge. I am with Barclays. MY00 Classic Turbo, SS exhaust 28 and 5 years no claims for £490. Might be worth trying them.

Just back from the Tyre shop and it turns out both wheels needed re balanced. They had hammered the old weights in, which I have had problems with in the past with the wheel throwing them, so I insisted on stick on ones. Seems A ok now. Thanks for the comments all. Dave[]

Discs should be ok...they are only 6 months old...will try the wheel balace first.

I have been getting some vibration through the steering wheel, particularly noticable at high speed. My 1st though is wheels need re-balanced, but they are only 1 month old, unless one has thrown a weight 2nd though is perhaps the ball joint is going. Anyone, mechanically minded, got any ideas or had similar faults? Its a MY00 Classic Turbo. Cheers

Got to be the Dukes Pass between Calendar and Aberfoyle. The jump which you cant see next to loch achray is fun, but a little scary the first time you hit it unexpectedly! I reckon I was at least 2 feet clear...stopped the first time to inspect the car!

Clip takes a while before the racin starts, but worth the wait. The Evo driver is well cocky, and even says to the scooby driver, "just try and keep up". I would fix it, but go through your insurance. The cost of loosing no claims will be far less than paying for it yourself.
