  1. I know we have a couple of 'stickies' on Scottish Scoobies highlighting the discounts and deals available to SIDC members . But there are loads of other local specialists offering club discounts too . How about a list of Scottish 'deals' in the Scottish Scoobies 'sticky' section ? Al.
  2. 'Harvester' carpark , Hillington industrial est, Glasgow, G52 4DR, 7pm , departing 7.30pm for a run where we will meet up with Central Scotland area for a joint meet. Please add your name to the list on this thread , if you'll be attending :- http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=105337
  3. Nice one Duncan 'c'mon the 'Classics' Al.
  4. I can't wait to hear your report after your mapping Whens the big day ? Oh , and whats the latest spec ? Al.
  5. Hi Kim, My email address on the PDF is wrong - it should be a_mcdermott@ntlworld.com. Cheers, Al.
  6. Hello , I've arrived I'm off exploring Al.
  7. Well done Nanaki [Y] You have made an excellent job of restoring that old intercooler - it looks great now , especially with the Samco hoses [H] Al.
  8. . . . asks the man who 'jump-started' a bbq with methanol [] Marty is actually going for a tricky putt on hole 2 (par 3) of his new SAMCO in-car crazy-golf course [] Al.
  9. Nice one Bandit [Y] I told you you'd be grinning [] ....you've time to get over for the Glasgow meet tonight [O] [] Al.
  10. http://andyforrestperformance.co.uk/ Al.
  11. Poor Squiggle will be 'spent' after the Time-attack at K-H today []. He was spotted twitching uncontrollably (in a rather provocative manner [^o)]), as the Roger Clark Scoob glided round the hairpin . - and his behaviour when he saw his heros dad (Jimmy MacRae) was simply not suitable for this forum [] . . .I'm sure he'll be able to advise you Duncan [] Al.
  12. I'm not going to manage till the afternoon [] I'll see you all there. Al.
  13. And I'm sure that if Del was not happy he would let me know himself . You are the only one who seems to have a problem with it.[|-)] Al.
  14. Kim, 1. You are doing a great job as RO co-ordinator [Y] 2. Dougster is correct [] - Strathclyde is no longer a political 'region' , but as very few of the 'Glasgow' region SIDC members actually live in 'Greater Glasgow' we discussed the subject at our meets and decided that it would be easier to keep our SIDC region called Glasgow/Strathclyde rather than "SIDC Inverclyde-Renfrewshire-East Renfrewshire-North Ayrshire-East Ayrshire-West Dunbartonshire-East Dunbartonshire-North Lanarkshire-South Lanarkshire-Argyll+Bute and Glasgow City " region . It kinda rolls off the tongue a bit easier [] andywrx, I think you've summed up the 'problem' [] Phil, I think you've sorted it [Y] Al. ("SIDC Inverclyde-Renfrewshire-East Renfrewshire-North Ayrshire-East Ayrshire-West Dunbartonshire-East Dunbartonshire-North Lanarkshire-South Lanarkshire-Argyll+Bute and Glasgow City " regional organiser)
  15. My 'local' too [] I often use Tesco 99 and I rate it highly [Y] I only ever use Tesco 99 or Shell V-power . Mine is mapped for V-power and to be honest I can't tell the difference . Al
  16. Largs-Vagas - the scenic-route , sounds like a plan [] My Largonian workmate reckons the carpark behind woolies would do us - no blue badges required [] Al.
  17. Yet again . LOL
  18. Good news mate [Y] Al.
  19. Quite a few have suggested that we go down and visit the Largonians . Parking is a problem though . We need around 25 places - Any ideas G ? Al.
  20. Last meet I forgot (due to being eaten-alive by midges) to ask for suggestions for a route/destination for our next meet [:$]. Any Ideas ? Ideally it should be around 45min (1hr max) each way with parking at the destination for approx 25 cars . Al.
  21. Is it 'stutter'/'bogging' cutting-out ? or 'bang-your-face-off-the-windscreen' cutting-out ? Former suggests 'leccy problem (maybes fuel ,but I think you've checked that)- check coils ,plugs ,MAF. Latter , may be overboost - hitting max-boost cut-off momentarly - get map tweeked or fit boost-controller . Al.
  22. My jalopy has been using water for a while now []. I'd tried all the obvious things - running off-boost , not using heater for a week , visual check of hoses / radiator , check for steam from exhaust etc etc - all the time trying to convince myself it wasn't the head-gaskets [:S] We discussed the problem at Glasgow meets and the Saturday OSIDC munch-meets at Peters restaurant . Loads of good suggestions were tried and it gradually became harder to convince myself that it wasn't the head-gaskets [:'(] I was becoming increasingly scunnered by the problem [8o|] so I decided that it was time to bite-the-bullet and I headed down to Greersport . . . . I arrived at lunchtime and noticed a familiar looking 399.6bhp STI parked outside . I went into the garage , which was strangely quiet . . . they were all in the office , tucking into chinese meals . "Looks like Fai17's modding again !" I thought to myself [] I explained the symptoms to Bill and , without looking up from his curry, he just said two words (yep you've guessed) "head gaskets" We had a natter and I got booked for the following week . Car went in on Wednesday 10.30 and I got it back on Friday 17.30 as promised . Cylinder-heads were skimmed , new gaskets , ARP head studs , new sparkplugs, oil & filter , SARD thermostat , SAMCO coolant hoses . A first-class job was done in record time and for a (very) reasonable price (SIDC rate). My car is much smoother (now that I have equal compression on all four cylinders again) , it's not used a drop of coolant , and I'm smiling again [] Thanks to all the guys who helped with advice Squirrel , Gordon Gray , Coulty , Jimser and loads more .. , thanks to Peter (Fai17) for the lift home on Wednesday , and finally , thanks again to Greersport [Y] Al.
  23. When I was in Spain a few weeks ago I noticed a lot of the taxi drivers had a spare seatbelt end , which they clicked in in place of their belt , to stop the warning sound [] . . . . I was shocked [] and I'd never , ever suggest that you might get them cheap from a scrappy [] Al.
  24. Give them a call on 01505683388. Al. PS, Colin isn't working there now. You are looking for Bill , Alan or Jason.
