Sounds as if you've answered your own question. Any split in the intake will muck up the measured air flow at the MAF.

No sure what exactly you are referring to as its usually one or t'other. Zero/Sports Cool Action II Splitter for Subaru GRB STI About £200 +vat Intercooler guard, although not seen one for a GRB or you can fit a Pro-R scoop grille.........

Item 2 is "Silencer - Rear Floor Rear" P/N 90723FG030 Costs about $45 in US so about £45 here Don't see why Subaru can't get you one. If not in stock, in UK would be a couple of weeks from Japan - Assuming thats the part that's Fubar -
