  2. QUOTE (the_ex_leper @ Jan 14 2009, 10:41 PM) 1. If your sidelights won't switch off look for the parking light switch on top of the steering column . 2.Use the search function on the forum before asking the same old question . 3. The best first mod for an impreza is the exhaust (backbox at least) 4. Buy a classic 5. Make sure you get regular quality oil / filter changes every 3 - 4000 miles 6. Always run the car on good quality fuel - V Power/BP Ultimate/Tesco 99 and add octane booster for safety in an unremapped import 7. Avoid "chip"ing an impreza - get it remapped by an expert like AndyForrest (Apexi for classics, ECUtek for newage) 8. Sell the Newage and buy a Classic 9. Always wait till the engine is nice and warm before giving it full pelt and let it cool down befrore switching it off 10. Upgrade your brakes before modding the engine 11. A VTA dumpvalve isnt really a good idea unless your car is getting remapped to compensate for it. It will momentarily make your car run rich as the ecu gives fuel for air which has been dumped and not recirculated. All you are missing is the gay noise. 12. Solid rear droplinks and a decent suspension geometry set-up are probably one of the best sub-£100 modifications you can do to a standard car. 13. new ages will undertseer when at the limit 14. If you have a classic get Strutt Braces. The improvement is outstanding! If you have a new age...no luck! loL! 15. Clean out the boost solenoid once in a while and dont fill engine oil right up to max. 16. Go to the SIDC track days at knockhill, you get free tuition from an instructor if you want (plus ensure you wear Cat boots far better that way!!!!) 17. Love every minute of driving and owning it (it will make handing over the credit card much easier 18. Goto meets/Knockhill/Crail and tell us who you are?We don't bite sometimes 20. Join the SIDC and you'll get discounts on insurance and dealer supplied parts in addition to track days. 19. For some obscure reason there is a lot of mention of goats & homosexuals in here. Do NOT let this put you off our forums. 99% of our members are "normal" but we are all fans of The Hoff. 20. Always prefill the oil filter when doing an oil change 21. Dont believe everything you read on the forums. 22. Send off for a Shell card 23. What ever BHP you get, you will never be happy 24. BLUE is the best colour. 25. Is your car standard? - leave it that way. 26. Watch out for the Impreza's "lift-off" oversteer. It's wicked, particularly on a wet Knockhill! 27. wave to other scoob drivers 28. never buy a set of lexus rear lights[+o(] 29. sidc love some photography of your beloved 30. dont sell your scoob you will regret it and will end up with another 1 31. The best place to hang out on saturday nights is at OSIDC 32. Modding is for MEN 33. Going JDM is for winners..........leave the chocolate UK's to the Willy Wonka lovers! 34.^^Andy speaks the truth, JDM is the way forward!! 35. K.I.S.S. Keep it simple stupid and don't mod what doesn't need modding (dump valves etc) 36.NEVER let the other half known how much youve spent on the car.she will be jelious! 37. Dont go to Halfords for your servicing parts - they are more likely to give you filters for a lada or skoda. 38. the bright button really does just make the clock brighter
  3. looking nae bad-cleaner than on saturday noo gerrit dropped min
  4. eek!! dont think il be going or thatneed to give a plan a ring and see if theyl do day by day- i might scare myself enough first time that i dont do it again!!
  5. as above wheres the best place for cover and how much? dont want to risk my pride and joy without it!!!
  6. i would say its a fair price, but then its the same as mine its a lot of car for the money, and barely run in-just watch out for the dreaded knock,if the struts havent been replaced they will almost certainly need it.
  7. Rich does really have a working impreza! and i actually saw him behind the wheel of it,driving away from awd with the biggest grin this side of his mapping day
  8. 1) Jonboywrx + Debs 2) Cruz104 3) Paul555sti 4) Scoobysailor and family 5) Bobby C 6) Maxxed_Ross 7) ryan_gwa 8) imy + grant 9) scooby222 theres enough car parking in and around springkerse for everyone and it saves going through the town. also if your cars lowered dont fancy going up the cobbles to the castle much. cold get to th kerse early and put down lots of towels
  9. ive got 6x9's in my shelf, theres cutouts for them in the metalplate that runs under the shelf so the guys that fitted them just cut holes in the shelf to fit and made small risers to let the speakers fit as i went for kenwood dual mags which needed a bit more depth. with the back window tinted you never see them anyway.run them and dual mag components in the front door off a kenwood 800 amp with a clarion head unit thats 5 years old now so will swap to a kenwood thatl let me control the amp without getting out the screwdrivers! can stick up some pics if you want
  10. hi mate ive had a set of these fitted to my 05 sti for about 3 months now and i love them. get the odd clunk but not often. for the money i really cant fault them,i got them as part of the group buy on snet and they came with front and rear pillowball ,camber adjust top mounts and remote rear adjusters. the other halfs got tein super etreets on her itnegra and there doesnt feel much between them, mine are a bit more compliant but thats probably just down to the settings. for reference i do 95% of my driving on country a and b roads and unless your in full mcrae mode i reckon theyre more compliant than the standard set up cheers dave
  11. good grief it did shine up well!!! cracking car youve got there davie, and the best colour of course! i do believe that the splitter and spoiler were options on your car not standard,so a few more goodies than you thought!
  12. col, check your goats, sent you the number for Graeme that does awd's work, he does a really good job and has a scoob too!
  13. well done guys and gals, nice to see such a good turnout and so many smiling faces from the kiddies
  14. ive an 05 sti but same problems, totally lost faith in the car and subaru until i bit the bullet and bought a set of bc coilovers from apex performance over on scoobynet,560 delivered. would have liked teins but at half the price im delighted. try asking subaru to contribute towards uprated items as you'l continually be back for the standard ones im afraid
  15. oh dear! you may want to get your dealer to get in a sofa bed for you then!
  16. all the best, hope you have a 'spirited' xmas guys! think youl be seeing a lot of me next year dave
  17. if your down this way well worth giving hypertech a go Al how long before you go for coilovers then?
  18. id stick with the goodyears-bearing in mind how our summers can be!! for me out of all the tyres ive tried the goodyears give the most accurate feel wet or dry when you get to the limit, always know what theyre doing and you know that if they start to slide itl be nice and progressive out of curiosity how good a deal did you get on the compomotives and how if you dont mind saying? drop me a line if you want dave
  19. well it was a lot lighter with the engine oot min!! and i thought id converted you to new age!! right move though i think, leaves you free to go mental on the type aaargh so what engines in the bm then?
  20. lovely choice of wheel col, probably preaching to the converted but they are the right pcd,114.3, before you go getting tyres? im the same as you, just taken the 18s off and as they were summer only i went for toyo t1r's but ended up going back to the goodyears as i felt they were better even in the dry. have just put dunlop sport maxxs in the same size 225/40/18 onto our a3 and dont like them at all, horrible vague feeling when you first turn into a corner. for grip the standard fit potenza re070's (?) are hard to beat and the michelins are the only other tyre id like to try-thought pirellis were ok but not great and dont like yoko's at all even the prada 2's. o and i went for 225/40/18's as i didnt want tramlining on b road blasts!
  21. civilized? you!!? nice car though, now when do you get the tints and the 20" spinners?
  22. be interested to see how you get on with the turbo too, pretty much the same spec ive got planned for mine once the pennies are saved! set of coilovers and a blue respray and wel be twins
  23. thats a smart bodykit youve got for the saxo Rich
  24. have a look at the bc kit in the group buy over on snet, had a set on mine for a couple of months now and am more than happy, reckon the ride better than the prodrive springs 90% of the time
