  1. Ones nothing to do with the other. When was the cam belt last done?
  2. If you're going down that route then vinegar is much easier to get hold of and a fair bit cheaper too. http://www.cookhaus.co.uk/vinegar/index.htm
  3. Not really. That said I;ve got loads. The only essential in my opinion is a knocklink as that will warn of a lot of different problems.
  4. Thats not a lot of miles to do in a turbo. Do you run crazy boost on it?
  5. I used petroleum jelly (vaseline).
  6. I wou;dn't be acid dipping any engine I was planning on using. Chemical degrease ok but acid dip.........
  7. Copies? Wash your mouth out with soap.
  8. Chameleon did a set for me a couple of years ago. They looked great at the time but have started to bubble up quite badly. Remember that a couple of years means about 3- 4 thousand miles on my car so not best pleased. The wheels have not been kerbed either, its the spokes that it's started on. To add insult to injury if it get them redone it would wreck my original Rays stickers which are all but irreplacable and cost a small fortune.
  9. Is there anything left to do Peter or is it all mapped/shook down etc?
  10. Could do. Or not start in the first place.
  11. Try keeping up with this guy in his old ford
  12. Good shout Davie. Does the drag increse the tighter you turn?
  13. I take the "auld yin" comment sore coming from you. You still making that funny noise when you try and get out a chair?
  14. Who? Nothing much has changed mate. Eveyone's got well over 600 hp though so you better get your finger out. How's the car? You sold it to pay for bike lessons yet?
  15. The cars performance was never in doubt, the drivers on the other hand......................
  16. Nice work Kenny. For what it's worth those figures would have been the highest of the day at the first rolling day I went to at Dastek.
  17. More than likely they will have meant the inlet manifold gasket, not the head gasket.
  18. Is this a mobile service?
  19. ... but his guy just went and did it anyway http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2763036 Madness.
  20. None of this will up the top speed of the car at all, that is limited by your gearing and how many revs your engine can handle which will not change with these mods. What you will do is get there quicker and the car will be more responsive to drive.
  21. Add in an sti air filter and you're running a very decent stage one and will amost certainly make more power than PPP. You'd also have an ecutek licence meaning future mapping is much cheaper, this is more of an issue if you see yourself making future modifications. Do you know how far you'd like to go? As has already been stated the PPP is a one size fits all map and therefore is a compromises, a map from Andy will bespoke and get the best from the car.
  22. Thats not how much he wants for it. "AM LOOKING TO SWAP OR SELL OFFERS,,," See lots of cars on gumtree for £1 or crazy prices. Don't know if it to get your attention or what.
  23. This is true. I used to be in top gear before I got to the bridge. Mind you, 2.5 was just about the perfect length for the hairpin given the spec at the time.
  24. When have you ever had 200bhp? Anyway, when my car was standard I found 2nd too short for the hairpin. I was out of revs before the car had straightened up and in 3rd there was enought grunt to spin the wheels at will. Hence my trip to the infield.
  25. Power is not the main consideration I would have thought. When I had lower gearing and a lag free engine I took the hairpin in 3rd and there was still enough grunt to drift, spin, totally overcook it and ping off into the infield. Even with more power I reckon the fact I have raised my gearing and the point at which the motor starts to make decent power might mean I'll have to take it in 2nd next time.
