PMSL, I dont think so Johnny50. the Justy is my run around/getting to the shops and back Squirrel's red rocket is the one we'll use for the runs....... why do you think he is feverently modding the classic at the mo?? gumball, i've never driven a 4WD so may well be trying the drifting thing As if I'd let grant anywhere near the engine bay with a hammer! He's to repair only, not modify Imy

the micra is nearing her last miles so got myself a wee Subaru Justy. 13i 4WD, metalic aqua 5 door that does 60 mpg ! Not bad petrol consumption for a Subaru, eh? Needs new brake pads and some bits and pieces but have myself a handy mechanic to do the repairs Squirrel is already talking about new alloys for her! wonder if he'll try putting a turbo in it LOL Pics below. John, Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. TBH, each format has its own merits, pros and cons, i.e. the smaller group format will work if 'group leaders' know each of the routes; the convoy format works as there is a reduced chance of veering off the route if you can see everyone else. It is up to each individual driver to decide what they want from the day and therefore how fast to drive. Although we have settled on the convoy format for our runs, we have found that cars naturally break up into smaller groups due to the conditions on the roads (other traffic etc) and is quite manageable. << Possibly. What weekend is the KH track day in september? >> st3ph3n, I believe the track day is being held later in September and shouldnt clash with this run. Imy -
Here are the details for the next run. To avoid clashing with the events that are on during August (Knockhill: Touring Cars and Hot Hatch), we will be holding the run the 2nd weekend in September. After discussions with some regulars here about potential routes, we will be starting in Livingston and will be having the run on Sunday 11 September Start Bellsquarry, Livingston Date Sunday 11 September Format 0900 for 1000 start, 1 hour lunch, finish approx. 1600 It is advisable to bring packed lunches/flasks of coffee and to turn up with a full tank of go-go juice (there is a Shell nearby) before we start. There will also be a nice finish point. If you have any questions, just ask! Imy Here?s the list, you know what to do 1. TheSquirrel555 & micra_wrc 2. 3. edited to modify post title

Jim Clark Rally 2005 - 7th/10th July
micra_wrc replied to derek_robertson's topic in Scottish Scoobies
yup. had a great time at the Jim Clark. it was scorching, cars were intense and Squirrel and I managed to catch about 6 stages yesterday. A few hairy moments with the Irish drivers that didnt believe in braking before hitting the Swinton crossroads. Eugiene Donnelly landed nose first but managed to hold it together for the next jump! Saw a few faces from here marshalling at the Langton water splash....... hope you guys had fun and wonder how you manage to get the only stage that provided some comfort from the heatwave??? hiya to GordyQ and H1 SOOB too, it was nice catching a few stages with you some pics below....... << i thought that the Scottish scoobies clothing was going to be available via the club shop or do i have to talk to gayle or imy to get something??? Read on the catalogue at the Glasgow meet that you can order only from club shop can someone enlighten us all please?????? Claire >> The original plan was to make the clothes available through the Club Shop but have come across some unexpected problems (which i am not going into detail about) in doing it this way. We are in communication with the Committee and possible solutions include raising our prices or increasing the time it takes from order to delivery. We are relunctant to do this as we have set up a good quality clothing line at affordable prices and want to make the ordering/paying/delivering process as lean as we can. There are financial and accounting issues that have to be agreed before the clothes become available but we are working on this and ask folk to be patient. Also, we want to make sure any profit made from selling these clothes go towards a Scottish Scoobies Santa Cruise fund. We will start a thread and post up details once we are ready to roll this out but, as it is not our full time job, it can only progress if we have spare time. If you want more info or have any questions, please PM me. Imy

thanks to Grovit for pointing out the thought, organisation and stressed involved in doing these runs. Its not as simple as posting up a date and starting point and away we go. Things we have to think about include distances between stops, cost in petrol for eveyone, car park facilities, toilets + shops, petrol stations, clarity of road signs, volume of traffic at road junctions and availability of safe passing points for overtaking. Also road surface, fuel consumption, police presence and distance folk have to travel to the start/finish point comes into discussion, not to mention the recce, research + word processing time and printing costs involved in producing 40+ maps. The TRS run you did was fun. That was organised into groups of 4-5 cars and, although I can see the logic in splitting up the group, I feel you lose the sense of being in a convoy. The group we were in were fab, its just that we didnt really see anyone else after we set off. We prefer to keep the convoy together for our runs cos there is no better sight (IMO anyway) than seeing a row of scoobies in front and behind you winding down the valleys/hills. There are obviously disadvantages in this format but it has been (more or less) successful so far for the past 4 outings. anyway route is almost there and details will be posted as soon as. we are looking at the last weekend in August for this to take place Imy edit to say the only thing you cannot plan is the weather

Nice to see so many folk. A good turnout last night. things are looking up for the Glasgow region Imy
