Must admit i was quite taken aback with the way it seems to have been handled. I was a member in the past, but as my car is off the road at the mo and debatable wether it will go back on it's of no benefit for me to rejoin. I have enjoyed loads of days out, meets, trackdays etc in the past 8 years and met some great guys (and gals). That said, i was thinking of rejoining anyway to give my support but after reading this thread and seeing how this site (scottish scoobies part) seems to be dying i will be thinking twice and watching, hoping it picks up again, after all the new season is upon us which should help. Maybe thats the wrong attitude and after all its only £20 but for me its not about the money its about the banter, the comraderie and the way we all help others out if possible but that seems to be slipping away these days. Steve whitson (SW MOTORSPORT) 07956119962. He's in penicuik. Top bloke. Johnny

That box will struggle with anymore than 350bhp, if you treat it hard it may not even cope with that. Johnny.

Why not get Andy F to convert your td05 to 20G? It depends on what you want from the car, the 20g is a bit more laggy but still not bad and its good for up to 400bhp if you want a bit more in the future. Johnny

I think if i was going to throw nearly 50k at a car i'd go for something like this... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2490696.htm I know its not new but for me it doesn't matter. Johnny

There is a garage selling brand new, unregistered spec c's for around 21k on pistonheads. Absolutely stunning cars, Johnny

I will do a project thread when its nearer the finished stage ( i reckon it'll take me about 2 years or so to build). It wont be faster than colins as i will probably need to use mine as a road car more than him and i dont want to rotate the turbo. I can't start it until i get a couple of bikes sorted and out my garage, so hopefully get back into it in the spring. Johnny

Not bad dave, you? The motor isnt going too well these days as its needing a couple of bits. Mainly needs an engine + box + an interior...lol Johnny

Ask colin, he saw it yesterday... Johnny

i've got a blitz mechanical one if your interested, white faced + its very nice + works great. I was keeping it but i dont think it'll work with what i've got planned. johnny

Have you tried some of the specialists for a quote? I use a plan and found them good. They were £300 less than elephant. If you can stretch to a STI its worth it. You can get a nice one from around £2500. Although i rekon mine is worth about £500...lol Johnny

If its a 99 something aint right. Its got a prefacelift dash which was replaced around 97 so either its a late registered v3 or its had the dash replaced but why go for an earlier one. Johnny.
-
It's been well played with, an early wrx by the looks of it with facelift bonnet, newage seats, aftermarket scoops and far too much money wanted. Johnny
-
Imho i would keep it and sort it if you wont be able to get yourself something else you'd like. If you break it the popular bits will go quick then you'll be left trying to shift the rest. Over time you'll shift the bits but you'd need to be prepared to wait. Johnny

The fact the car has been in the uk since 2005 shouldn't put you off. It can actually be a good thing as you'll know its ok on uk fuel and it may have even built up a bit of history. My car has been in the uk for 8 years and is still very nice. For £3500, if you can get cash, could get a V3 or v4 sti with a bit of searching. If your going through a dealer there are a few better ones around, maybe sva imports. Personally i like the V2 sti's inc. the limiteds and they are getting rarer these days which is stopping me from scrapping mine... This seems quite nice v limited.. http://bbs.scoobynet.com/private-for-sale-cars-352/866962-subaru-impreza-sti-555-special-edition-for-sale.html Good luck M8. Johnny.

The blue one has been for sale for ages, prob due to the price but if you like it you should be able to get for a lot less. You should be able to pick up a nice v2 sti for around £2500 if you look about. Johnny.

Fook me Grant! Absolutely gutted to hear about your health predicament. Also WTF!! about the bannana, i thought that'd be a keeper. Glad you got Imy to keep you going, i know how hard it can be a times. Also what exactly is wrong with the ticker? They can do amazing things these days, try to kep your chin up m8. Hopefully will speak to you soon.. Johnny. Oh, nice write up.

Roll on project Justy!!! Johnny

That looks like one for the gearbox end. As yours is an auto you may need the one that fits behind the clocks. Dunno for sure. it would be good if you could borrow one to try it before you buy one. Johnny

That was a good weekend, glad i made it even if i did have to share a car with playsatan.. The bridges full of people all the way down was amazing. Anyone got the photo of Playsatans car with the caption about the knackered gearbox? lol, i cant seem to find it. Johnny

no you dont, it now allows your oe clock to read in mph using the kph numbers, all you need to do is put a mph sticker over the kph if you want, both the speedo + miles will read in mph. another tip is to record the kilometers before you convert as the clocks will now read in miles that way you can always work out the total miles covered when you come to sell the car. johnny
-
what year you got? if its an early classic its a mechanical limiter, simply fit a speedo converter between the gearbox + speedo cable + you instantly get a clock that reads in mph + a limiter now set at 180mph... simples... johnny.

i had an agv for years (mackenzie rep) + i loved it. now using a kbc which is a fair bit lighter than my old lid but more wind noise with it, doesn't boher me as i drown it out with my mp3 player..lol i like the kbc now compared to my old agv, but i rekon the newer agv's will be better built. colin uses an arai now + he says he wouldn't wear anything else now it's that good, especially the pinlock visor for winter. johnny
