  1. Ok where can i get a cat1 alarm fitted around south lanarkshire? I used skidz in falkirk the last time but there must be somwhere decent nearer home. Johnny

  3. Well after a weird day car shopping in Ireland i'm now the happy owner of this wee beastie.... It's needing a bit of work to get it up to my standards but it's a great start. johnny.
  4. I've got a washer bottle if you need one m8. As for the relay, dunno but there is a module in the passenger footwell that can pack up but i can't remember if you can still hear the central locking system going. Johnny
  5. Great write up m8, hope you get to the bottom of that misfire soon. Best of luck for the season. Johnny.
  6. Arnold clark have a few in in the 7k region. Johnny
  7. As long as the spacer isn't too big it should be ok, loads of us use them. If your not to happy with spacers they could be used for a short time until you get wheels that fit. Do you know the offset of your wheels? You'll probably be fine m8. johnny
  8. Good stuff m8. good to see a prefacelift getting the tlc it deserves. All the best with it. Johnny.
  9. Yeah, defo a mark 2. Group 4 spec by the looks of it... Very pricey. Johnny
  10. Cheers for the comments lads. As for wether i get another classic i don't know. Been looking at all sorts but always seem to find myself back at scoobs probably because i know them and have some good contacts, but after so long with one sometimes i think it's time to try something else. Johnny.
  11. Well i don't post that much on here and most of you won't know my car as i havn't taken it to any events in about 4 years or so. Today the poor thing went away to the big carpark in the sky. I've had it for around 9 happy years with no problems in all that time. It's done a few track days, crail days and the Colin McRae memorial along the way. It even got me home with a cambelt idler sticking through the cambelt cover with a snapped bolt. As the prefacelift cars are getting rare i was in the process of stripping it down with plans to build it looking as standard as possible but running a 2.1 with billet turbo, fully polybushed etc. but as i was cleaning the underside ready for paint i noticed some surface rust in the rear suspension turret (very hard to notice) and after some investigating it turns out they rot inside the rear quarter panels. The only way to sort this is to remove the rear quarters, so after a lot of thinking and stressing i came to the conclusion that it was too much money and hassle to repair as this is something i can't do myself so it had to be scrapped. So today it was taken away and crushed. i'm absolutely gutted as this was the best car i've had (and was one of the favourites with the old school members who knew it) but it had to be done. Wether or not i get another remains unanswered as i simply don't know yet. Here is the last pic taken of it. Oh.. Sorry grant.. Johnny.
  12. You'll need to drain the coolant from the header tank. there is a pipe connected to the bottom. Then it just bolts off. Johnny.
  13. As neil said it was mid febuary in lanark. It was pretty good (although rummaging through old bike bits is right up my street). I was tempted to buy another bike there (well most of a bike) but my wife would have killed me. A wee ride out in the summer would be good. Johnny
  14. One of the best for the brembos are performance friction. iirc alyn (as performance) has good prices. Johnny
  15. Ah, i got you. Let me know how it turns out. a wee pic of the mod would be good too. Cheers, Johnny.
  16. Arch, when you talk about the rack spacings do you mean the distance from the column end to rack? If so it might be fine as a new age uj and classic uj are different lengths so it may mean you only need a new age uj. Johnny.
  17. No probs m8, turns out it's fine. I was gonna scrap the car this weekend as i cannot get my plate off. Turns out i can appeal and seem to have a good case so the car will be in the garage till i get a reply from the dvla. Cheers, Johnny.
  18. As above m8. Johnny.
  19. Think they're about £150 from subaru so best bet is finding someone breaking a classic. Johnny
  20. I went last year for the 1st time and i quite liked it. I thought it was quite big for a bike autojumble and spending a few hours rummaging through bike bits and checking out the old bikes for sale is right up my street..lol Can't remember how much it is, think it's about £7 so cheap enough. Colin and myself have been talking about getting the bikes out for a run when the weather picks up. If your interested i'll give you a shout when. Johnny.
  21. Your brave.. it's suposed to be baltic this weekend. The haggis bike autojumble is as far as i'll be travelling..lol Johnny.
  22. I usually get the revs up to about 5 to 6k then off the clutch very quickly. On my car it seemed to give good grip without bogging down. I have never broken anything launching this way but it's not the most sympathetic way.. As for the diff, try with it (iirc) diff locked for launch then opened once into 2nd. I think this is how colin used his on the type r and he had pretty good launches with reduced wheelspin. Check out.. Johnny.
  23. you needing a windscreen in the scoob m8? You got one yet? Johnny.
  24. Try Hypertech, not far from you. johnny.
  25. I did this, got an exedy stage 1 clutch with little use cheap so went for it. The clutch was in good condition and kept me going for 2 years until i sold the engine. I knew where it came from and why it was coming out so had no worries. If its a good one it could be worth it. Johnny.
