  1. it should have the code stamped onto the housing. Johnny
  2. no, just use a genuine subaru one. johnny.
  3. yes m8, although i think we'll be taking colin's car. Not too sure yet. Johnny
  4. Sounds weird as you shouldn't have disturbed anything significant changing a box. I take it it was fine before the box change. Do a search as iirc there is a way to get the code on classics without a reader by connecting a couple of wires under the dash. A few things to check include boost hoses, coilpacks and connections. If your still stuck and i'm free your welcome to bring it round to mine and try my maf etc. to rule stuff out. Johnny
  5. At least it'll be there. Will be good to see it in the flesh. Johnny
  6. Jesus Wilky, absolutely gutted for you. Glad your ok though m8. Johnny
  7. After a bit of fun at Knockhill i thought i was doing good still having half a tank left, then realised i had done 55 miles Taking it easy on the motorways though i get near to 300. Johnny
  8. Progrip in bonnybridge are excellent. John is very reasonable with his prices and does a lot of the guys on here including some of the race cars. Highly recommend him. Johnny
  9. When replacing the front crank seal, if it hasn't been done you might want to change the timing belt tensioner and check the idler pulleys aswell. Be careful removing the inner crank pulley, you don't want to break any of the trigger teeth and also don't damage the oil pump which sites behind it. You might want to check the oil pump at the same time but this is a more involved job. Johnny
  10. cheers colin, i've got some gloss that could work on the wheels m8. Johnny
  11. If i keep my car i was thinking about getting it painted. What's your opinion on.. Car: STi alloy gold Wheels: wr blue anyone able to photoshop a classic in these colours??
  12. Cheers John for sorting me out with the crank pulley. All is well again with the car and no more oil leaks. I will return the favour asap. Johnny
  13. My car has 116k on the clock and still goes well and has never let me down. That includes 1/4 days and trackdays. Johnny
  14. What i meant was you can get your rear arches rolled which folds the inner lip in giving more clearance. A good bodyshop can do it if its needed. Tbh, in my opinion unless you really want the wheels go for 17's, they look just as good and i feel they suit the classic better both on looks and handling especially if you pick the right wheel. Just my opinion though, Johnny
  15. Neil as a few have said for your year of car all you need is a mechanical converter fitted between the speedo cable and clocks or in my case the gearbox. Is your speedo still reading in kph at the mo? This converts the speedo drive from kph into mph so no need to touch the clocks. The limiter is still there but it will be at 180mph not 180 kph(112mph). This should work absolutely fine unless your intending to go quicker that 180mph. The other benefit is your mileage will increase in miles not kilometers. It is also a good idea to take a note of the mileage when you fit the converter so you can keep a record of the actual mileage of the car. Johnny
  16. You may get some buffing at the rear. Nothing that can't be sorted. I take it they have 5x100 pcd. Johnny
  17. Or do what i do, just disconnect the speedo altogether. 2 advantages, 1: No limiter 2: No mileage increase jobs a goodun, 7 years on and working great... Johnny
  18. Dunno m8, thats just the factory figure. Although I doubt that you would see 260+ with just cams and a remap though on a n/a engine. 25 more than likely, but an extra 60+ or over 30% increase isn't easy to come by. Johnny
  19. Vectra gsi came with 197bhp iirc. Nearly bought a super touring years back. Johnny
  20. Another thing i'd look at is wether your box would handle 400bhp, i doubt it would last long, so before you spend a lot of money on the clutch make sure it will be future proof. Obviously it would work with a built 5 speed box but what if you decide to 6 speed it. Also if the car is a daily driver paddle clutches are not the best. Cheers, Johnny
  21. i'll be working so won't be there. just want to say good luck guys. Colin, you better come back with a 10 or a broken car! Johnny.
  22. What did you miss? Johnny
  23. What model you got? Can you put a plug onto the plug leads to check for a spark? Also when the ignition is swithed on do you hear the fuel pump prime? The plugs on the loom should only fit the sensor etc they are for so you shouldn't be able to connect the wrong one (iirc). you've prob missed a connector or earth. Check the 2 main plugs at the battery are clean and connected correctly. You'll probably find it's something daft you've overlooked. Good luck, Johnny
  24. If your after 330 ish a standard 2ltr (or 2.5) can handle that. So thankfully shouldn't cost too much. I run a standard 2ltr (over 100k on the clock now) and it runs 300 with a decat and boost at 1.2bar. Has been running like this for over 5 years. Hope you get yourself sorted soon m8. Johnny
