  1. Many thanks gents for your replies and I have every confidence that that you are absolutely correct. However, what continues to confuse is that the handbook that came with the WRX stated that for "3.0 litre & all turbo engined vehicles 06 model year onwards" fuel filter to be replaced every 36 months or 30,000 miles, a Subaru dealer replaced the filter 3 years ago showing part no. 42072AA011 at a cost of £26.37 + VAT and having entered the registration no., eurocarparts.com very recently supplied a filter quoting part no. 42072PA010. It's a black cylindrical item approx. 8.5 cm diameter, 8 cm high with "bent" in and out tubes. Further thoughts would be appreciated before returning the filter for a refund.. John
  2. Back on Monday from a delightful week near Ludlow with fantastic sunny weather! Great, unlike East Hertfordshire, to see so many Scoobies - but mainly Fozzies, Legacys and Outbacks...
  3. Similar happened to me a couple of years ago. Some idiot hit the front offside wheelarch and PPF7. Must have known that it had been done, but as expected nowadays, no note of admission left. Ended up having all four PFF7s refurbished and at my cost (£600 excess).
  4. Annual service coming up - can anybody tell me the location of the fuel filter for my 2006 2.5 WRX (it's not an STi). Some say it's in the tank, others not! Thanks. John
  5. Haven't suffered too many bird s**t problems lately, but over the glorious bank holiday weekend, special clean to the WRX and Accord. Same night, a massive mega haystack fire about half a mile away, with wind perfectly in our direction. Result - two gleaming cars, the drive, etc. covered in sooty black deposits. No you can't win!! John
  6. A sign of great respect for proper cars?
  7. At age 64, thought I was doing well at £285.00 (all mods listed), but with 6,000 mile p.a.limit and a £600 excess... But then I am down south! John
  8. WRX PPP originally had a 2.5" straight through centre pipe, but drone at certain crusing speeds was totally unacceptable. Replaced it with an Afterburner centre with small integrated performance silencer. Nice Scooby rumble, but cabin noise not much different compared with OEM huge and performance restricting resonator. John
  9. I've used Garmin sat-navs for the past six years or so both in the UK and Europe (including the Canary Islands) and basically faultless. Should work in Scotland as well!
  10. Hi Mikey, For that money you should be able to find a really decent Hawk STi, but as always, a full service history is imperative, including cambelt/tensioner change whatever the mileage. Torque from the 2.5 is awesome and as with any other performance car, top of the range oils and a degree of respect usually work! My 2.5 WRX PPP, now seven years old, runs as good as new and although not an STi, performance is fabulous (in PPP form, plus minor mods to exhaust system and a Pipercross panel filter), about 270 BHP and 310 lbs/ft. And, welcome to the Club! John
  11. Agreed - especially, as with mine, genuine Subaru s/steel grille kit and 2" lower spoiler. Also low mounted led daytime running lights fitted below the bottom grille. Looks great (I am biased!!).
  12. New style sticker on lower part of WRX rear screen. Just to confuse anybody, including my Honda dealer, old style sticker still on front screen of Honda Accord!!
  13. It can't get any more expensive...
  14. Wasn't being serious, but cleaning the vital parts sounds interesting!! John
  15. HT Autos splitter by any chance? Welcome to Impreza ownership and to the Club.
  16. I replaced the WRX resonator with a Scoobyworld Afterburner straight through section incorporating an integrated performane silencer. Very pleased.
  17. WRX PPP has always run perfectly on standard plugs as recommended by Subaru dealer and an independent specialist. Depends on extent of power mods proposed?
  18. Could buy the dear lady some Silverline commercial quality earplugs. Work for me - almost cancel out the wifes snoring, which can be far more disruptive than the average scooby modded system!!
  19. I have used Welch Group on the outskirts of Cambridge since 1997. Staff very experienced and never change! Never, ever, felt overcharged or misinformed. Highly recommended.
  20. Surely this one would sell in the U.K. I would definitely be interested.
