  1. If i hadn't got the info i needed from here, it would have come from somewhere else i'm sure. Infact i have asked a few questions that still remain unanswered. Problem is i just don't have the luxury of being able to buy membership for another club at the moment. If i did... id be a fully paid up member of The Toyota Owners Club, Audi Owners Club and the Lexus Owners Club! Its money i just cant afford to throw away and as stated earlier in this topic by someone else, there seems no point in paying as you get no extras for being a fully paid up member. Maybe donations are the way forward or competitions that require a small fee to enter.... things like that. Not sure really, just throwing ideas around. I would like to support the club however, just funds are low. I realize time and up keep of this site costs in one way or another.
  2. One of the arguments i've heard on here is this should be locked to non paying members so they cant post unless they pay. If that was the case, and i'm sure i speak on behalf of a few at least... i would just sign up to a different forum. A better idea would be to make people WANT to pay to be a full member. Much better offers possibly, or maybe some SIDC things from the shop? Regarding facebook.... people would just post on there asking there questions and never actually come onto this site, so they would miss out on the Track days, meets and other events. I personally have found a lot of information out regarding my Subaru which has also saved me alot of money all from people on here.
  3. The cambelt wasn't done at 50,000 miles, but i have just had that all done. £400 for the lot. The service history looks like its never had a big service at all and it's currently got 57k on the clock. When i bought the car it had no oil in it at all! Dip stick was dry! Definitely need a full service! I'm upgrading the brakes all round next as the rear disks are knackered. Thinking of getting these: http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1254 And get these as well while i'm at it! http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1335 Looks like i'm going to be chucking a lot of money into it as i've just had the rear coilovers replaced as it was knocking. Got Ultra SR Coilovers which have solved the problem! Anyone using or have used the above plugs on leads?? Any good??
  4. Afternoon everyone! My local garage will be doing the 60k service soon but has said it maybe better if i buy the parts as they would use standard stuff. It's a 2005 WRX Turbo blobeye.. running around 280bhp. I already have a K&N oil filter which came with the car, so looking for product info on everything else required. If this has been posted elsewhere then please feel free to point me in the right direction. Thanks people
  5. My KYB Ultra SR rear coilovers turned up yesterday! Getting them fitted next week so hopefully that will solve the knocking issues out. Fingers crossed!! Thanks for the info guys!
  6. I've got an HKS turbo timer...it was already on the car when i bought it. Absolute waste of time! I had to sit in the car holding the keys while i wait 30 seconds for the engine to finally switch off as it disengages the central locking so i cant lock it! Kind of annoying for the neighbours at 1am in the morning when i've just finished work! I've now turned the damn thing off. If i knew how to remove the thing safely i would and you could have had it!
  7. As far as i know the Front brakes are standard. Got about £250 to spend on Disks and pads as my other spare funds are going on my suspension to sort out that bloody knocking!!
  8. I know there's a few links to code sites but i think i'm being thick as i cant see my Applied Model code on either sites... anyone know what this code is as ive been told it was the transfer year.... whatever that means?? GDAEK8D Thanks
  9. Hi there and welcome! You've done what looks like quite a lot for as you say "Light mods". I too have a WRX 05 Blobeye. Only owned it for 6-7 weeks. Everyone on here is really helpfull..... especially for an impreza novice like myself! Your link doesn't seem to work by the way? Could be just me? Not sure....
  10. Thanks for the advice guys, i had a look on AS Performance site but the products page just says coming soon, so i'll give them a call tomorrow. I see deals like this popping up and wonder if there any good? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290505218878?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 Probably not but and i realize obviously the more you pay the better.. but in the case of my Audi, i bought JOM adjustable suspension for £180 and i'ts probably the best i've ever had so i know expensive doesn't mean better. As i don't track day (yet!) and very rarely will i was thinking EBC Green Stuff pads with EBC Grooved disks? Will upgrade the fron tlater with matching brakes.
  11. I have no idea. How would i be able to tell if there Pro Drive springs?
  12. As a few of you know via my other posts i'm going to be upgrading my rear suspension but on the MOT it's got an advisory for the rear brake pads. The disks look scored also so i'm thinking of getting that done at the same time as the replacement rear coilovers. My question is what brake disks and pads are people using? Mines an 05 WRX blobeye. I usually just go with Brembo Max disks and Brembo pads, but i'm seeing alot of Generic drilled and or grooved disks and Mintex/EBC pads etc etc.. What you stopping with people??? Thanks
  13. Ive contacted Powerstation and they replied with the following: Hi Chris I would recommend KYB dampers. The cost is £145.00 + VAT each, £60.00 + VAT to replace them and £80.00 + VAT for a 4 wheel alignment The total inc.Vat is £516.00 I was thinking KYB Ultra SR's and get my local garage to fit them.. They are very well known and have excellent customer service, and i know them personally, as they did all the work on my Audi A3. My WRX has been lowered by a previous owner, so does anyone think id need to get new springs or will just fitting the coilovers work with whatever has been put on? I think they are Tein Springs??
  14. Hello there!! Bit of a story for you first! Since owning my 05 WRX there's been a slight knocking coming from the back of the car when driving really slowly, i assumed it was the exhaust hitting the carbon heat shield on the rear bumper so didn't think much of it. Had the Cambelt all done and asked the garage if they could have a quick look, they came to the same conclusion as me.... its the exhaust. Today i took it to an exhaust specialist and they made an adjustment, i drove it away and the knocking continued, took it back 20 mins later and they tried again. Driving out of the garage it started doing it again, so i slammed it into reverse and told one of the guys to jump in so they could hear it! He agreed.... exhaust! When on a ramp another guy said take the hand brake off, did that, and he pulled down on the car and it stayed there! Pushed it up..and it stayed there too! And we could hear a creaking coming from the suspension. His verdict and i quote "The suspension is ****ed!" Now to my PPP question... Does anyone know if the suspension is altered by Pro Drive? Some parts looked like they have been replaced but if Pro Drive did all the suspension it may still be covered under some sort of warranty? Also can anyone recommend some good suspension that doesn't cost a small fortune just in case i do need to buy some! Thanks in advance people
  15. Anyone heard of Chris Palmer Motorsport? There based in Bristol which is close... ish. http://www.cp-motorsport.co.uk/
