  1. But it's a lovely feeling - particularly letting them catch up and then showing them how a proper car negotiates a series of roundabouts. Favourite place is Milton Keynes. Anybody agree? John
  2. Yep, good idea Gordon. So long as somebody will deal with the potholes, howsoever the revenue is raised!! John
  3. I am convinced, having owned Imprezas since 1997, that people do this just to wind us up and then marvel at how fast the back end disappears into the distance! Had this problem with a tatty GTi on Sunday...
  4. I "only" paid £270.00 last time for the WRX as it was registered pre March 2006, but during the last 12 months, it has covered just below 4,000 miles. Similarly the Accord, also £270.00 has done less than 3,500 miles. Personally, I believe that road tax should be scrapped and revenue raised on fuel costs only. John
  5. Hello, experts out there. I believe that it is possible to re-map the WRX 2.5 PPP ECU and if so, can anyone recommend a re-mapper in Herts, Cambs or Essex? Thanks. John
  6. Just returned from 18 days in Tenerife, suffering average 75F during the sunny days and a chill 66F in the shade. Only saw two Subarus over there - one Legacy tourer and an Outback. Great to give the WRX a blast today after 18 days in a Polo!! Not enjoying 39F though... John & Carol
  7. Think I'll be OK - only have the PPP exhaust system plus resonator section replaced with a Scoobyworld sourced straight through with integrated performance silencer...
  8. Thank you Kim - I thought that our PC or ISP were heading for replacement!
  9. Had similar problem on my Accord iVtec back in December 2009. Battery was found to be faulty at only seven months old. Replaced under warranty and perfect ever since - and it does few miles and sometimes not used for a week. Performed perfectly even in recent big freezes. They don't make batteries like in the good old days!! John
  10. Shouldn't do. Good idea to have the battery tested.
  11. Simply by instinct, I often flash a Scoobie even when driving my Accord iVtec. All adds to confusion!
  12. Yep, had exactly the same problem. Forge replaced the spring FOC.
  13. Driving east on the A120 today at Puckeridge, 40 tonne artic coming towards me with driver clearly texting. Mindless idiot. Should be banned for life...
  14. I would say definitely yes! Had ours done, plus tensioner at 5 years/28,500 miles. Like tyres, materials do degrade due to age. John
  15. Thanks Don. Daughter provided a nice cake with a chequered flag and a small TVR on it. Close enough!!
  16. Nick said "driving roads in Ukraine are awful". Bit like the UK then!
  17. Many thanks. Just getting over a nasty throat infection, consequently just having the daughter, son-in-law, grandkids and a couple of friends over for a large Chinese takeaway! Not supposed to drink due to antibiotics, but I will chance a couple of glasses of red wine... Nothing else planned - don't really like being 65. Big treat five years ago was a Bill Gwynne gravel rally day in a Group N Impreza and it's one thing I will do again (if allowed at my age!!). John
  18. 65 today and having owned five Imprezas over the past 15 years, have absolutely no intention of giving them up. Hope to continue for a further similar period, although aged 80 and 270 BHP (possibly Don, by then, 340!) is a bit scary to contemplate!! First OAP monthly payment comes in March - enough to fill the WRX 5.5 times with V-Power- rather puts fuel costs into perspective. Anyway, am I the most senior SIDC member. Answers on the back of a Shell gift voucher please! Regards to all, John MacDonald
  19. Will have a word with my son-in-law who races Caterhams and has some close connections with a few racing teams. John
