  1. I believe it is often down to simple envy of people who have decent cars and look after them. Worst experience I had was owning a stunning BMW 535i V8 Sport for a couple of years. Suffered no end of inexplicable door hits and dents. Lowlife scum...
  2. That happened to me when I had PPP fitted - Subaru dealer sorted it...
  3. Sounds like a reasonable idea - from memory, used to run previous classic turbo and RB5 on something like 30 front and 28 rear. As we all know, classics were not so lardy as replacement bugs, blobs, hawks, etc...
  4. Call me old fashioned, but just a thought - logic tells me that if a fair amount of weight distribution is to the front, front pressures should be higher than the backs? Not an expert, but 26 psi all round must surely result in uneven tyre wear?
  5. Probably then depends on particular model year. Instruction sheet that came with Prodrive spring kit for my 2006 hawkeye states 33 psi front, 29 rear (17" rims) and 35 front, 31 rear (18" rims). I guess Prodrive know a thing or two about Imprezas!!!
  6. Have always used 35 psi front and 31 rear, as recommended by Prodrive when 18" rims fitted. Perfect! Try it...
  7. Absolutely, and it can only be a classic, with an aftermarket exhaust system that produces the ultimate flat four soundtrack. Sadly, current WRX 2.5 comes nowhere close, even with Prodrive Pack replacements and an afterburner rear centre section...
  8. Absolutely - lovely looking car, but meantime will continue with trusted (and quick) Hawk 2.5 PPP!
  9. Chips Away (Harlow) did an excellent job on previous STi prior to its sale - dealing with a couple of nasty abrasions on front fog light cover and refurb of slightly kerbed PFF7 alloys. Their man did the work in my garage, thus no chance of a quick test drive to help the paint dry...
  10. Sounds like a good idea, but what happens when you need to put some air in the tyres?!!!
  11. I have had one set of Prodrive and a set of STi "lockable" valve caps nicked. Looked nice when in my ownership, but now back to plastics. No doubt my nice caps are running on a Nova or a BMX!! John
  12. Does anyone have recommended camber, front & rear toe in settings for a Hawkeye with 18" Prodrive PFF7s & Prodrive spring kit? (I'm relying on you Don!!!). John
  13. Have a look in the handbook or use the dipstick?!
  14. One of the best Imprezas and one of the more attractive colours. Welcome to the club! John
  15. For the past five years, have run on Pirelli P Zero Neros - just about to have third new set fitted. Can't fault them - fantastic grip wet or dry. Camskill have supplied four 225x40ZR18s at excellent price of £412.00. No point going cheap tyres on high performance motors - as always, you pays for what you gets... John
  16. My Hawk WRX is in soon for 4 wheel alignment and have been quoted £79.00 inc. VAT...
  17. Agree with Mark's comment, and as said earlier, Prodrive springs completely cured the typical WRX bounce and wallow. Personally, I have always run the WRX on Pirelli P Zero Nero 225x40ZR 18s and found them to be fautless (just taken delivery of my third set). Did have RE070s on previous STi Type UK, but found them likely to catch me out a bit, especially when not warmed - good fun though! Also running on KYB gas struts. John
  18. Welcome to the club, but do you realise that Impreza ownership bcomes an addiction over time?! What's your car and where are you? John
  19. Another thumbs up for Camskill. Ordered four Pirelli P Zero Nero 225x40x18s on Friday and delivered today at a very resonable cost of £424.76, inc. delivery.
  20. Subaru's Prodrive spring kit and the addition of a front strut brace transformed the handling of my 06 WRX, without compromising "comfort". Kit only lowers by 25mm, but needed 4 wheel alignment.
  21. Yesterday afternoon on the A1301 between Great Shelford and the roundabout with the A505. A black 07 plate Hawkeye STi - probably a PPP. Took off past an Audi like a rocket, with accompanying soundtrack. Sadly driving my Accord iVtec - no chance of following!!!
  22. I previously had a very low mileage 56 plate wide track STi Type UK with PPP and the only mods were Prodrive spring kit, Prodrive 18" PFF7s, Pipercross foam panel filter, Hayward and Scott straight through rear centre pipe and a forge VTA dump valve. Fantastic, frantic performance and huge noise on full power. Probably the best of all our 5 Imprezas, but couldn't afford to run two. Remaining Hawkeye WRX has been with us for five and a half years and is also a great car. I have always kept the standard airbox and found Forge dump valves to be fine. Enjoy your first Scooby, but treat with great respect until you are used to it!!! John
  23. Welch Group, Cambridge, have looked after my five Imprezas since 1997. Can't fault them - always fair and helpful and same experienced staff have been there for years. A fair drive from Wisbech though? John
