  1. I've subscribed to EVO for years, but they appear to concentrate on supercars that are totally out of reach of our mere mortals. Will probably let my suscription lapse nest time. Good thing about Total Impreza is the it's mainly about Imprezas!
  2. I'm 64 and on my fifth Impreza. Just still growing up disgracefully!! You won't regret buying a Scooby...
  3. I believe that the hawkeye 2.5 has four separate sections and the rear centre section has a quite restricting resonator. My hawk has PPP exhaust kit and I have recently replaced the rear centre section with a Scoobyworld afterburner with integrated performance silencer and am assured it will not need re-map and will pass MOT.
  4. Happened to me a couple of years ago. I carefully drilled through the plastic thread and managed to then extract the remains. Bought new bolts from Halfords. Hope I have understood your problem!
  5. Agree with previous comments. Whenever we use the Cambridge Park & Ride at Trumpington, I always park the WRX in the very first bay and at one end (at least one side is protected). It's the furthest point from the bus with loads of empty spaces, but almost always on return, there's an old heap parked right next to me. Is there some sort of magnetic attraction emitted from a parked Scooby?!! John
  6. I've been running the Hawk on P Zero Neros for the past five years and can't fault them. Excellent wet and dry grip and a sense of knowing when you are close to the limit. Have very recently fitted Falken 452's to my Honda Accord 2.4i Vtec (which is fairly quick) and I am very pleased with them - but, of course, we are not talking about the need for a top premium brand to match an Impreza's performance.
  7. Mine's a nice Prodrive polished item with a blue end. Very cold in winter, but the Mrs has sourced a comfy knitted cover. Magic...
  8. And the OEM items are not gas filled (which are far superior). KYB won't supply direct due to some sort of arrangement with Subaru - if going down this route you will need to find a capable specialist. Let me know if you need a contact - my man supplies and couriers at a very reasonable cost... John
  9. Personally, I wouldn't consider fitting OE struts - very expensive and no guarantee that they will last very long. I had a specialist source KYB gus struts at half the cost and so far, very pleased.
  10. I have a 2.5 Hawk with PPP front sports cat and PPP rear box and have just replaced the resonated centre section with a Scoobyworld supplied Afterburner pipe with an integrated performance silencer. For me, this upgrade is ideal - it provides a moderate, purposeful increased exhaust note without in car intrusion. Should also give a bit more BHP. A couple of years ago, I fitted a Hayward & Scott straight through centre pipe, but the resultant drone was unacceptable and I reverted to the OEM section. For me, the new configuration is ideal - unless you are looking for loud! John
  11. Nice one Don. Hope to say hello at Welch Group meet... John
  12. What is it about Subaru's? Wife and I have had five Imprezas since 1997 and can't think of not owning one! Basically, they are an expensive, but hugely enjoyable, obsession!!!
  13. I would suggest that they would only turn down a theft or attempted theft claim. Why not ask before making any hasty decisions? If the tracker requirement was not stipulated at the point of sale, I guess you would be entitled to cancel with full refund (subject to no claims).
  14. Welcome from a very happy owner of a 2.5 WRX PPP Hawk (owned since Jan 2007). What part of the country are you located? John
  15. As above, I'm flexible on dates. Perhaps Chris Carlton could suggest a date? John
  16. Fantastic! I guess my man possesses a multimeter and I will let you know the outcome - you may have saved me some serious money, but no doubt if I need a new sensor(s), Subaru price will be rediculous, as always!!
  17. Thanks very much for that Mark. Do you know where the front sensor is located please on a Hawkeye? The WRX is being serviced by an independent specialist next week and I would very much like him to have a go, rather than face Subaru dealer bills. From an earlier post, I believe that the other sensor is above the headlining and I guess that one is not prone to corrosion. John
  18. Thanks for that Don. Appears that I will need to visit my Subaru dealer. More expense!! If it's not sorted, I believe that under new MOT rules, it will be a fail... John
  19. I would go for grooved only and so avoid risk of discs cracking...
  20. Anyone out there had the auto headlamp warning light glowing on their Hawkeye and if so, any simple cure or is it a potentially expensive Subaru visit? I guess there is no simple way to disconnect the warning light - there seems to be no issues with headlamp adjustment being out! John
  21. I found standard Brembo set up on my previous widetrack 2.0 STi type UK PPP perfectly adequate for normal fast road driving, but Goodrich s/steel braided hoses definitely improved things. For the STi and current 2.5 WRX PPP, have been pleased with Pipercross replacement panel filters.
  22. O.K. But which one did you go for?! John
  23. Agreed, they were simply awesome and sadly banned due to incredibly bad crowd control. Mind you what sort of nutters would stand in the road with 500bhp coming at you sideways? Hopefully the event you mention will be properly supervised and we will see more Group B. One of the advantages of being 64 is that I was there in the forests in the late 70s & 80s to witness the machinery (and noise) first hand!!! At the time, my car was AVO RS2000 Mk 1 no. 25 (with full Janspeed extractor system) John
  24. The few times during the years when I have had no option but to use 95, including last week, a dose of Millers octane booster appears to work very well...
