  1. On my year 2000 Turbo, I fitted a Hayward & Scott straight through centre pipe and their "standard" back box. Wonderful burble and not intrusive until foot to the floor - fastastic compromise. Also, seem to remember Hayward & Scott suggested a 8 bhp power gain.
  2. If lubrication doesn't work, could be worth trying Euro Car Parts.
  3. Have also posted under WRC section, but this forum has the most interest. Highlights of Day 1 on Motors TV UK 10.35 tonight.
  4. Thanks Don. Therefore, remain confused as to how quiet most registerd non-members now appear to be...
  5. Under the membership section, Don said today "The Forums were "re-opened" to non-members back in early December 2013." I am unable to reply in the appropriate area as it now shows as "This topic is locked". Just need to say that unless I log in as a fully paid member, the only forums to view are Known Issues and FAQs and Parts Sales. Is it just me or is this the reason that all is so quiet of late? Personally though, I don't understand why so many obvious Subaru enthusiasts are not prepared to pay 5.5 pence per day to join up! For me just saving on parts from my local Subaru dealer more than covers the membership fee and the wealth of knowledge available is invaluable. John
  6. As per post "Is it time to start growing up?", I'm 66 next month and not intending to grow up just yet and will keep the WRX for as long as possible. Great pity if you have to sell yours, but running costs are a problem for us all. Luckily, the WRX only covers about 4,000 a year, tax £280 and cheap insurance in our location, plus age factor of course. Also very fortunate to have the Accord iVtec which has delivered average 37mpg since bought in March 2010.
  7. Further to my post on 24th January, early days perhaps, but after quite heavy rain yesterday, boot appears to be completely dry. Hopefully, my carefully cut neoprene gaskets have done the job! Cost £4.60 with free postage from Amazon. Hope this helps other members with similar problems.
  8. ccrien, on 26 Jan 2014 - 3:46 PM, said: Any chance of a few pics close up to see what the raised spoiler looks like, different angles please? Here they are (hopefully). The pods are by Zerosports, but don't know if they are still available. John
  9. Thanks Don - will give it a go. Us OAPs not totally up to speed with technology!
  10. No , not like that. Pics follow with help from Don!
  11. No problem - will do when and if it stops raining! Probably best to pm me your email address as I can't see how I now attach photos to this reply.John
  12. Have used Welch Group continually since 1998 and can't fault them. Current temporary premises in Great Shelford are clearly inadequate, but once established in their new purpose built facility on the busy A505 near Duxford later this year, hopefully all will be back to normal and will be reinstated as an official Subaru dealership.
  13. Can't beat a hawk in WR Blue & gold. Welcome to the club...
  14. Being fairly confident that the spoiler holes were to blame, last weekend I tried the suggestion of sealing under the Zero carbon pods with bathroom mastic. However due to a heavy frost followed by rain, rain and more rain, it didn't have a chance to set and I was left with liquid mastic down the boot and bumper. Having completely removed the spoiler and pods this morning, I believe that water has ingressed via the right hand side spoiler brake light cable hole. Consequently, I have made two gaskets from 1.5mm neoprene and will refit the spoiler tomorrow. Will advise whether successful or otherwise. If not, will consider a waste outlet from the spare wheel well!!
  15. Of the five Imprezas owned since 1998, my widetrack 2 litre STi with PPP sports cat., straight through Haward & Scott centre pipe & H&W 5" exit Jap style back box gave an enormous roar at full throttle. When my wife was in the garden she could hear me leave the A10 a mile away, blast uphill to Hay Street and join the B1368 for home! Equally wonderful sound @ 1,500 rpm in 6th. Don't think the residents of Hay Street village and near neighbours shared my enthusiasm though... A pal of mine has a 5 cylinder Focus ST with full H&W stainless steel system. That also sounds fantastic.
  16. Just a personal opinion, but the Impreza is a high performance machine and the only contact between it and the road is its tyres. Consequently, price (particularly), noise, mpg, wear, etc. shouldn't be deciding factors. Safety is the only consideration.
  17. Since 2007, I've been running on Pirelli P-Zero Neros. On my fourth set and can't fault them wet or dry. Not been sideways yet!
  18. Agreed re. plugs as it's not a turbo. Good sense to let somebody else do the cambelt!
  19. I may be tempted when low mileage demonstrators begin to appear. I assume Pro-R will be offering a 340 pack - a nice extra!!
  20. Offset on my Prodrive 18x8J Prodrive PFF7s is 51. Hopefully ths info will help.
  21. I agree that Ian at Godspeed is very helpful. So helpful in fact, I ended up spending £1,000 plus on their 335mm two part groved front discs, huge Brembos and Ferodo DS2500 pads! Amazing increase in braking efficiency.
  22. Best of luck Mario with the spark plugs and cambelt!!
