About south west motorsport

  1. Have a classic turbo and currently have a blitz nut spec, I want something that looks very similar but just not quite so loud. I always hear others drive past with a quieter but deep burble also does anyone know which exhaust brand gives best bhp gains . Thanks Ben
  2. Has anyone here ever fitted a blouch 16g turbo ???? Just fitted one to my 95 wrx and it doesn't appear to be boosting as much as the standard turbo did.... My question is, even though the car is set up with a simtek ecu and was making close to 330bhp on the original 16g turbo do I need to have the ecu re-mapped again for the new turbo. I know I do to make more power but as a like for like swap should it make the same kinda of power as before or is the actuator which on mine I believe is set at 9psi the reason it doesn't boost as much even through the ecu is programmed for about 18psi. Thanks
  3. It's been a few weeks and I've done quite a few miles and all seems fine so far fingers crossed .,..., thanks though for the input .
  4. Thanks will give it a blast later, when I drove it yesterday I did blast it upto 80mph and back relatively quickly and didn't notice any coolant loss, but will do it a couple more times and see what happens
  5. How hard should the top radiator hose be after say half hour of engine running, mine is pretty hard, not rock solid as I can still squeeze it . But I am reluctant to admit that the cause of all this is down to a radiator......
  6. Not gas sniffed it since . Rad was fitted late yesterday, I test drove this morning , but I had pressure / steam coming out the top of the radiator bottle. Luckily I had a metal header tank so that was fitted today and a mechanic test drove it and he said it all seemed fine and no coolant was leaking. I'll test drive it myself tomorow when I'm back in work and will update here again
  7. I thought that would be your reply, getting new rad fitted tomorow , will get timing belt cover off at same time for a visual inspection of water pump etc and will re-post here again to update.
  8. Got my car in at work today and the radiator looks pretty knackered , quite a few fins missing. Would this cause the problems??
  9. Just one final question, would a failing water pump still circulate coolant around the engine as it is flowing perfectly fine which suggests the pump is doing its job.
  10. Thanks for replies , had pressure test done, was losing pressure and engine heating up quickly and gushing the coolant out the header (with cap off) and expansion tank with cap on..... Probable head gasket or could it be water pump???? How can I check water pump???
