  1. Can't imagine for one minute that you would be liable for any tax due and in any event I assume you would be well within any Capital Gains Tax on disposals. But with a 2014 STi, they will sting you with VED of £580.00! Can't win really...
  2. My lovely wife loves Subaru, but still feels great affection for our previous WRX PPP with its many Prodrive extras - PPF7s, spring kit, H&W exhaust, etc. And, don't tell anyone, she is a young 67 year old and still manages magic fast circumnavigation of roundabouts and the inevitable blast on exit - STi in sport sharp mode and appropriate centre diff adjustment results in perfection.... We both intend to grow old disgracefully! John
  3. Very rare sighting yesterday a.m. of a blue current model WRX STi with private plate - thee letters and three numbers, heading north on the B1368. If you use this route regularly, you would have possibly seen our white STi on the drive (mostly in the garage now due to scares of overcoming keyless entry).
  4. Subaru reliability is amazing. Since 1998 we have spent only about £1,500 on replacements. But still, warranty companies want to charge outrageous amounts for cover. Sadly they are plainly unable to evaluate and underwrite risk. (I spent 40 years as a commercial underwriting broker and now have to place my insurances through youngsters have haven't a clue - not their fault!)
  5. Never been to Ross on Wye - meeting very good friends from north of Swansea and then returning to the Cotswolds for seven days break. Will The locals in Ross cope with a STi flat four roar - quite different to sound of our previous Imprezas!
  6. Hi Tony, Will be arriving at the Royal Hotel in Ross on 8th July and departing on the 10th. Should hear the H&W straight through approaching from about noon!! ?
  7. Hi Don, I don't criticise easily, but had a bad experience with Stortford Performance Tyres a good many years ago. Not so much expertise, but appalling attitude which I am never prepared to accept. Perhaps the guy was having a very, very bad day!! As it happens, it is Cambridge Performance Tyres that I have used satisfactorily over the years. Am guaranteed their expert alignment technician will be sorting the STi on wednesday. I will post the printed post work data sheet.
  8. No, they don't do alignment. The company I have used in Cambridge for almost 20 years have tyred and aligned all of our Subarus without problem, hence don't want to identify and give them negative comment. Unless they mess up this week!! Watch this space...
  9. New Sport Maxx RTs fitted on Tuesday @ reasonable £499.96 inclusive. Also had four wheel alignment carried out, but on arriving home, discovered they had adjusted to factory 2008 - 2014 Impreza settings, rather than for a 2015 WRX Sti and also overlooked my request to use Eibach camber, caster and toe specs for which I provided a data sheet. Now back to Cambridge next week to have the job done properly - another 52 mile round trip. Problem again is that the current WRX STi is such a rare car in this part of the country and is still thought to be an Impreza! Hope to have the brake calipers repaintd Ferrari red very soon - will post images...
  10. Yes, memories of the Prodrive RB5 and widetrack STi PPP! 20mpg was a target often missed. At least the current STi is averaging 25.9... (But only in intelligent mode. Sport sharp is another story)...
  11. Very interesting Mark and you are a brave man to drive from Turkey. Only drove there once - never again! Why do the locals overtake on blind mountain bends? In Turkey in September, but will simply enjoy sun, food and culture, rather than be completely fooked!!
  12. During the past 20 years of Subaru ownership, I have always found their technical help team to be very helpful. Worth a call?
  13. Surely there must be something slightly less extreme?
  14. Water in the boot of my previous Hawkeye was found to be entering via spoiler. Bought some neoprene sheet, cut gaskets and refitted. Problem solved after weeks of wondering how the well could keep filling.
  15. Agree entirely. I am now 70 years old, live in rural east Herts and very, very rarely drive in rush hours and go no where near London. If visiting other cities, always aim for a park and ride. £520 is not fair value for such limited mileage. However, hope to enjoy the STi for another 10 years or so...
  16. Joke is that my 2011 306 bhp Merc C350 V6 AMG coupe (petrol) was only £180 last time and it is quick! I know it's all to do with emissions- shame Subaru couldn't improve on current STi. Still wouldn't dream of selling It!
  17. It gets worse - forum needs some control from senior SIDC old geezer (70 years young on Friday).
  18. And me. Last Shell V-Power fill up locally was £1.34 per litre. Liquid gold...
  19. Welcome aboard. What are you driving?
  20. Just renewed @ £520.00. As usual, the STi has covered just over 4,000 miles over the past year. I strongly believe that car tax should be abolished and put on fuel tax, or am I being selfish?
  21. Can I sell you a perfectly performing 12 year old battery?!!! (see previous posts)
  22. Nor me! Last year builders doing work for us, their mini excavator wouldn't start - old Subaru battery started it straight away. I do think I have a one off, but it's so usefull to have in stock!! Will report further in 2023...
