  1. Have now attached the CTEK eyelet fly leads directly to the battery terminals, so next holiday, simply plug in and go and come back to a fully charged STi!
  2. Lovely. Is there a paint marker for the PFF7s?!
  3. Thought the Lavorg estates were bloody quick at Snetterton last autumn and as for the sound. Awesome. As it happens BMR are based just a couple of miles north of me. Often see their transporters on the B1368.
  4. Perhaps Team BMR could assist Tony. I believe their Levorg racers are 1.6 flat 4 turbos, although very slightly breathed on!!
  5. Don, you should start charging for you excellent advice. Thank you!
  6. Personally I don't understand all of the bad press regarding the EJ25 2.5. Our previous WRX PPP was owned from 2006 until 2016 with no issues and so far, our 2015 WRX STi has been similarly reliable. Both have been regularly serviced, treated to Miller's nano tech race grade oils and with some respect!! Not to say that both have been on the rev limiter on occasions...
  7. Following Don's thoughts, I have bought a CTEK MXS 5.0 charger which I will employ when away for two weeks next May. From feedback, it appears to be completely safe and I am confident it will do the job.
  8. Could live with that. Certainly would be achieving more than STi's average 25.6 mpg...
  9. So will we eventuaĺy see yet another final edition here in th UK?!!
  10. Didn't realise latest version was available in silver. Looks great!
  11. Welcome - hope it doesn't cost too much to sort!
  12. That oil consumption definitely needs professional investigation. Of our six Imprezas/STis owned since 1998, have never needed to top-up between services.. I guess many other members will agree.
  13. Hi Don It's a Scorpion tracker. Any further ideas please and could the tracking unit be discovered by my Subaru dealer and removed? John
  14. See you have the best PFF alloys - had them on previous Impreza STi PPP and Hawk PPP...
  15. Hi Tony STi is on the road only 3/4 times a week and often only covering 20 miles per day. I am considering a CTEK 5 series maintenance charger for our two or three annual holidays, but slightly apprehensive about leaving it connected to the in situ battery for two weeks. However, I assume no fire risk as CTEK has been on sale for years? Just a thought, I discontinued tracking contract two years ago. Is it likely that it is still using battery power? John
  16. Could be right Tony, but must admit that Mrs Mac having driven six Imprezas and current WRX STi, since late 1980s, she is an excellent driver, but not likely to take risks like us blokes. But she is still adverse to driving our superb Merc C350 V6 coupe. Must admit that the Merc is great for a long journey- compliant suspension, peace and up to 40 mpg on a gentle long run and £195 road tax. And it still manages 6 secs 0-60
  17. 18s in my opinion look better, but whatever you decide, they need to be 100 pcd and ET51... From memory of our hawk, 8J?
  18. Best we have achieved lately is 34mpg on a reasonably gentle journey to north Norfolk (Mrs Mac driving). Don't understand why, but I rarely get near 24 in intelligent mode, less in sport sharp. Any ideas?
  19. Unfortunately now in very short supply. Many years ago was able to buy a used set of PFF7s for our 06 Hawk...
  20. Welcome to SIDC. I have a 2015 STi in chrystal white and the only problems experienced are the failure of three TPWS valves and inconvenience of completely flat battery after 10/14 days every time while away on holiday, even though garaged and alarm security system unset. Original battery was replaced two years ago with an uprated Bosch item. Any others had similar problems?
  21. May be tempted to apply the advice to a very early Sunday morning blast along the bikers' favourite A507 from Baldock through Buntingford to join the B1368 to Cambridge. Mrs Mac would not enjoy!!
  22. Thanks Don, I will probably go for CTEC. STi jumped started this evening by spare 2005 Subaru battery following a one hour charge. This battery also started a diesel mini excavator last winter!!!¥
  23. After buying the STi at two years old, battery failed quite frequently and replaced it with an upgraded Bosch item. Away for 2 weeks in May this year and it just turned over enough to start. Back today from a 9 day break (garaged, alarm not set) and battery completely flat. Any ideas please?
  24. Welcome. Of the six Imprezas owned since 1998, my 2006 widetrack STi PPP was possibly the most memorable, but then there was the RB5 PPP...
  25. All I have done with our 2014 WRX STi (2015 MY) is to fit a Hayward & Scott straight though centre pipe, Eibach springs and Pipercross panel filter. Also have run our previous Imprezas on Miller's nano tech competition oils. Expensive, but never had a failure! For me the enhanced exhaust sound is spot on. Welcome to SIDC - join up as a member!
