Depending on how its mapped really, but the larger the turbo the longer it will take to spool mate.
-
You could buy a cable for a small fee mate, theres lots of websites who sell OBD-2 to USB. These issues should flag up but sometimes its best to just get in there and check them manually.

It is a pain in the ass mate I'm sure. You seem to have a few electrical gremlins if I were honest. The MAF problem will be intermittent as will the coil as it may be damaged but not broken. Crankshaft sensor failure is very possible, it will not read the correct position so will turn over without start. Although a fault would see a violent shutdown of the engine during driving. I wouldnt rule it out.

Right ok mate. Starting fault I would say lies with the MAF. Overfuelling the car and not having an air mixture to start, dumping a load of crap out your exhaust. Like I said, disconnect the MAF and see if the car has any change on its starting fault. If the symptoms are the same with it unplugged then there lies the fault. The Water Temp Thermostat is faulty, meaning that even when the water is cold its going to start. Finally the boost issue sounds less of a boost issue and more of an ignition timing problem which says to me that one or more coils are causing an intermittent fault. Most will advise to replace all of the coils as when one fails, it can damage others. A multimeter will tell you which one, if any has gone. Not having the best of times with the classic are you mate. Disconnect the MAF and see if the symptons are the same as your having with it plugged in. Apart from that were'nt you having running issues!? Did you resolve them? Also the start solenoid might be giving you a bit of hassle. Can you hear it at all?!

Just a quick hi-jack! When I had the Scoob some a-hole stole my only set of keys so was just gonna break into it via putting the window in. I thought before I did it, better phone and see how much it will cost to have one put back in. Wait for it... ...£586 FOR A DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW!. The brick fell out of my hand (and ass) pretty quickly!

New To The Forum, Got A Little Problem
StewartyBoy replied to Scottynic's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Kangaroo and hesitation should really be treated as 2 different things. Failed coil packs or MAF would cause hesitation, kangarooing will be more likely dump valve or waste gate. -
Get it to me at Xscape@Braehead and I'll have a look over it, I stay on the Clyde there. From what your saying I reckon 220-230ish with a good engine although the rebuild with STi parts and then no other upgrades stumps me a bit, unless whoever had it built ran out of funds/motivation. Once I removed the cat I noticed a significant difference in torque and noise. Your hesitation in 3rd and 4th could arise from the Dump Valve mate, possibly has the wrong spring in there. Try and get hold of a standard re-circ first before having the turbo looked at. Also have a check that the MAF is fully functional (open cone air filter can ruin these). Anyways drop me a message

Pics Oh The Front Splitter Fitted @1st Wash Of The New Yr
StewartyBoy replied to tomwrx08's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Splitter looks great but the big question is... ...how many times did you fall on your own frozen water??? -
As lovely and shiny as the wishbones look, I would either leave em soaking in some WD40 or something to coat them and leave em to dry. Either that or paint them/ powdercoat them to keep them from corroding. Im sure these may have been galvanised/zinc coated and the buff will have taken off the coating.

Have the bodyshop blow the colour over onto the wings to get a decent match. You never want to just have the bonnet resprayed as there will be a visible difference no matter what age of car. Any bodyshop worth their salt will advise this, if not it really is worth paying that bit extra for. Hope you have it sorted soon mate.

New Scooby Getting Delivered Tomorrow -wehey!
StewartyBoy replied to tommo9375's topic in Scottish Scoobies
It seems to be growing on me more and more, but I think its from a "new car" point of view and not being the new Impreza model. Does that make sense...!? Basically I dont see it as being an Impreza, due to its completely different shape I feel they shouldve re-badged the car. Nice example though. Enjoy! -
Old Insurance Company Demanding Money?
StewartyBoy replied to ciaranrb5's topic in Scottish Scoobies
This wouldnt have been a brokerage on behalf of Adrian Flux would it. Like Highway!? They tried to sting me before for going over by 110 miles. I point blank refused to payup on the grounds that if you did go over the allocated limit, was I just to STOP my car phone them and ask pretty please if it were ok if I proceeded on my journey!? And then what, they would bump my policy up by a couple of hundred which I wouldnt be willing to pay and at that point in my journey, my policy would be null and void!? After a couple more phonecalls to the customer relations they scrapped the charge, changed to Elephant and never had any hassle. Really hope you get this settled mate because there is nothing worse than having a company like that trying to string you up. -

I had my keys stolen a few years ago. Had it lifted by M8 recovery and taken to Subaru in Eaglesham (closest). They supplied me with a key from the chassis number within 2 days at the cost of £65. All you need is driving license and proof of ownership.
-
A common one this. Subaru systems seem to be open to interference, it must run on a wideband. Get it home and see if it works then.

Some poor barstewards RS6 is sat on bricks while he's cruising around on the poor chaps rims. Is that actually mirrors under there...? I'm all for individuality, but laced with ****loads of taste. His Skyline GTR bonnet has fired as well, gonna cost £11k to fix that!

DOOOO IIITTTTTT!! Love things like that, anything to make it look that bit different without looking chav is fine with me!

Surely they're comes a point when they must realise how much they are pricing themselves out of the pump. If customers are replacing the pump and crawling to the next station, its bad days.
-
Can you not just findout the consumables size, whether metric or imperial and buy them from your local motor factor!? Can't see them being spurious parts mate. With the salt on our roads its no wonder they bar has corroded. A nice touch is to remove them and have them powdercoated at your local alloy repair shop.
-
Check the starter and alternator first mate. Belts could be loose meaning its just not getting charged properly. The higher the CCA rating, the more reliable a start as well so check as its very cold right now. This should be on the battery. Unfortunately cold weather will take its toll on a battery ready for the bin.

Nice strong engine. More commonly found now in Q7's and A8'S. Worked on a lot of them in my apprentice days. Avants are better looking than saloons in that shape.

How Many Hours Does It Take To Fit ...
StewartyBoy replied to empty_heed's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Depending on how seized the nuts are I wouldve said a couple of hours. -
HAHA I reckon I mustve been about the same, but I believe you did it in one day. Well spent Saturday!?
