StewartyBoy replied to ally-b's topic in Scottish Scoobies
If I'd had a Scoob I would've volunteered. No fun following a Saab...Wheres P.C Cross!? -

Well done that man! Community spirit for you!

Older ones seem to have a lot more issues than Impreza's of the same age. I do like Evo's, especially 6's but I reckon if your going to have to spend a lot of money maintaining an older car make sure its one you dont mind parting with cash over, otherwise it will be absolute heartbreak!

Thats a bloody huge FMIC. You may as well just of done away with the bumper! Have they chopped the centre section of the bumper off?? Way better than the Laguna! -
Back End Stepped Out 2x Tonight! - Updated

Either you have problems with tyres as said above, or a real problem with camber. Does the car have camber correction bolts on it? Eccentric cams are a worthwile addition... -
HAHA OK OK OK!! Clearly I'm completely outnumbered!!

As you say, every 2nd hand car is a gamble and even more and more now even buying a new car seems to be a gamble these days. Im sure that engine, well looked after is absolutely bullet proof but if not looked after its an expensive timebomb. The car was built for ragging, and that always sits in the back of my mind when seeing adverts like this claiming large toque and BHP If that lad or girl has just been booting it around the joint and expects to get all his cash back because he/she has a large folder full of reciepts for fancy branded parts by a well known engine builder, that alone cannot demand the value unless backed up by an exemplery service history. I wouldnt be putting anyone off buying something they love, and are willing to part cash with. Just be VERY careful. Its easy to be wrapped up in figures, and am not for one minute suggesting that this is the case with Rally Fever. I just dont want to see a thread on here saying "MY TYPE R HAS BLOWN UP" or "My Spec whatever has gone on fire..."(sorry Jimser), just because of dishonesty at the point of sale. That is all, sorry if I got anyones back up!

Sorry guys, the parts could be made from platinum and Beyonce could come free with the car and I still wouldnt buy it. At the end of the day that car is not worth 10k. I understand that buying a car "modded" is very appealing. The parts are there, and the hassle of gaining and installing them is out the way but the slightest thing goes wrong with it and your into mega bucks. All of a sudden that 10k car is needing a 4k engine rebuild. Is it then worth 14k...? I'm an Impreza nut like the rest of you, but lets face it we know from past experience how quickly it can go wrong when modifying. Getting 400 odd out of an Impreza does not cost 10k. If thats what you expect to pay then you really do need your head checked... Lovely car for 6k but nowhere near 10.

As much as I adore all things scooby, I could not bring myself to handing over 10,000 notes for a car on a P Plate. All those modifications have only de-valued the car. My advice is buy a Type-R as close to standard as possible (difficult after all this time) and spend the cash yourself, doing it the way you want...

Yeah a meet at the car might be a good idea! I live right next to it on the Clyde as well!! WOOOO!

Probably have to replace both I wouldve thought, difficult to get seperately. Try Scottish Subaru in Paisley. They strip Subaru's for spares.
-
Easily have that repaired, sounds like the strut just needs re-sealed.
-
Yes it would have! Our second depo is in Kinross and I left there over 2 and a half hours ago. Bloody music liking students!!

My Dad owns a welding company and was seriously impressed with the work they do. Had 4 cars done there and they are fookin great. Everytime it came to MOT time they swapped my CAT back in for free...

Wahey!! Pictures!!! See you got the hang of photobucket then... Wheels look great, although as said abive, they are a nightmare to clean. I had Super T's on my Valver Megane and the took an age to clean.

In photobucket below the picture there are different types of links. One should have img at each end of it. Copy and paste the link onto your comments box on the forum and post it.

17s in Black will be around £45 a wheel.

It completely depends on the rollers circumference and adjustment. No two roads will give the same power output and not one rolling road could ever give an accurate reading so who's can you claim is more accurate? The purpose of a rolling road is to merely give an IDEA of power. Only by taking the engine out and dyno testing at the flywheel will give accurate results, as there is minimal displacement. In an ideal world there would be 3 dynos and a run of each, and by taking the average would give you the best IDEA.

Garages now use mobile contractors who come to the premises and spray the wheels. I know a few guys who do it. Shelly, I live right next to Cameleon Powder Coatings. I have used them many times, just 3 mins from Braehead. They only do Mon-Fri, if you cant get to them during the week you can whip the wheel off and drop it in at me and I'll put it in to them and collect it for you.

Thats not right. If you unplug the 02 sensor the car is going to run rough and display the fault light as a vital sensor is missing. Only way to trully findout if its the problem is to swap in a new sensor. The only reason the MAF may not have thrown up the light is because it has an intermittant fault i.e its still functional, it just isnt relaying the correct parameters of 02 for the ECU to decide what fuelling and ignition timing is needed.

Massive Thanks To Extreme Motorsport Whitburn
StewartyBoy replied to 14N-FR's topic in Scottish Scoobies
I think thats what they were saying mate, they were'nt having a dig at you. Merely meant that they probably dont apply copper slip so that they shaft us into taking it back to the manufacturer to have the bolts removed... -
Hve you not got a multimeter to check them first? Strange that the ECU throws up no fault but your going to replace sensors without being sure. Have you got a standard recirc valve you can drop in?

Happy to help

Ive seen a few done this way, and the ones ive seen have had to have their foot flat to the floor to gain High and Low pressure. Give it a bash.
