  1. Due to hi and low level spoilers having a different distribution of weight, the holes are further apart for the latter. A drill and tiger seal to stop moisture getting in should sort that. From experience, all bumpers and skirts are interchangeable. Rear lights (wagon to saloon) are not interchangeable.
  2. Know nothing about the car, but from the list of mods and whats recently been replaced from experience I reckon it may have hard a hard life. For the price 3-3.5 should get you a pretty good and half decent mileage UK Turbo as well.
  3. WOW! This is good to know for the future. Didnt realise they were so bad!!
  4. Personally no... but I have heard that delivery takes a while by a couple of mates who have bought stuff. Is this guy not based in Clydebank!?
  5. Mightve missed another thread Jon but how is the car in question...?
  6. HAH DO NOT SELL THAT BEEMER!! I love Impreza's and understand you need more room, but that is one sexy looking car!
  7. Glasgow Meet is usually the first Thursday of every month at the Harvester in Hillington. Kicks off usually 7/7.30
  8. Agree with both above. Set out what you intend on doing to the car and in what timeframe. If your going to change turbo's, injectors, pumps, headers etc etc, the best thing to do would be buy them all over the timeframe and have them installed before a single remap. Like Trackhound said, it will save you a fortune but you'll expect best gains from a tailor made re-map, rather than having someone install plug 'n' play parameters from someones laptop in an industrial estate.
  9. I'm pretty sure no-one will mind mate. I obviously am not one of the owners, but cameras are out all the time at meets and no-one has an issue with showing off their pride and joy! Is this a College/Uni project mate!? It's a good subject with a really broad spectrum I suppose.
  10. HAHA VERY true! We once had a guy when I was an Apprentice who had decided to topup his engine oil. Now, bare in mind that this guy owns a 3.0TDi S-Line A6 so I would've given the guy credit for being in a reasonably good job and probably getting there with hard work and intelligence. He complained that the car was smoking heavily and was DISGUSTED that a 4 month old car was consuming such a vast amount of oil and did not expect that from such a brand of motor vehicle. He had topped the car up...to the top of the filler neck. Dipstick? Quite literarily.
  11. It has been proven time and time again that Gatso cameras are inaccurate. Made by the Germans, their Government refused to use them on basis that vibrations, reflections and angle were all contributing factors to the speed traps giving nonsense readings. If the Camera is pointed at a fixed point (say a road sign) and Lorry driven passed it, the vibrations of the truck can set off readings due to frequency distorting it. Reflections of frequency from other cars can distort frequency. If you have a 2 lane dual-carriageway (like Barrhead Main Street), the camera has a sweep angle i.e the distance from a fixed point to that of focus, with the closest lane having the correct sweep angle for calibration. How can it evaluate the 2nd lane as it has a further distance from the fixed point and only one lens to calibrated...?
  12. So pretty much, at night take your front plate off. Most are on dual carriageways, and even if a passing policeman spots it missing you'll be going far too fast for them to catch up with you. Isnt that right Rich...?
  13. My my. How can people be so stupid. I could forgive Welsho for sticking screenwash instead of anti-freeze, but a sock instead of a filler cap. Surely I've now heard it all...
  14. You know when people type "LOL" but you know they really are'nt laughing out loud. I actually fell off my seat laughing at that post. Why would you think THAT was a good idea!?
  15. They have infra red illumination, so the answer would be yes. They do work at night mate.
  16. Thats the same colour as discussed from the paint shop Rich.
  17. I didnt think they done that on site but outsourced. Could be wrong though...
  18. HAHA "Is this a piss take" Less help and more slating on that forum. People need to be told when they've been a knob. In all fairness though, crap design with the set screw and nut. Surely a spring washer would've helped a bit. Thats why they should all be plastic!!
  19. Stonechip dings from generally driving took the coating off in clumps rather than layers, like painting would do. I'm not dissing Chameleon at all because they do very good work and a lot of members are using them, but personally I now have my wheels painted as I feel the finish is second to none and you can have it done on your doorstep. Why do we not have powdercoated cars if its so cheap and durable...?
  20. I've seen these on a white model and I have to say mate, you've mad the right choice. Good to see you getting the lights out and doing it properly, rather than it hingin' off and stuck partially on the wing!
  21. These were mine painted And a previous car powdercoated I know you cant see very well, but the painted wheels had a far superior finish to them. I did pay more but in my opinion it was really worth it. Looking closely at the Kei's on my Megane I could still see the bare alloy colour through the white. They were done by Chameleon. With powdercoating I found that when it did chip it came away in sort of clumps down to the metal rather than layers if that makes sense. I suppose powdercoating and painting have their own application characterisitics, just depends what your looking for out of them.
  22. Re-Post! But yeah I think someones at the windup!
  23. Paints a funny thing. Does nice new shiny paint show a well looked after car, or does it hide an old problem or issue!? Drive the car, feel if the gearbox is still toyt like a toyger and if there's any play in the steering etc etc... Buying a used car especially cars like these are a huge gamble. I usually take someone else who's keen on car's with me. I'm an Ag mechanic so I know a certain amount, but its always good to have someone else there just incase I'm either being a perfectionist or a numpty.
  24. I've had a good few quick Clio's including a very special old skool Dimma. Very chuckable and make you grin, what hot hatch does'nt!?
  25. I really dont know what the fuss is all about...
