  1. I don't think it's a good swap at all. That car is not worth 10 grand. Mentions a few mods (including de-cat and induction kit) but no mention of mapping? Why new clutch at 35k? Why timing belt at 35k? As has been mentioned it's the old style centre console/heater controls e.t.c. Registered as Type-UK?? I've never had a JDM so not sure how the registration goes down, but that seems strange. If it's registered as a Type-UK then does it endure expensive road tax, whereas JDM wouldn't? Even by his own admission "MINOR DINTS AND SCRATCHES" I could be wrong of course, but seems like an unknown quantity and I think there are better for cheaper. A lot cheaper. Cheers.
  2. Nice one Graeme. Looking forward to watching this so all the best with it.
  3. That's madness! From the side it still looks relatively standard!!!! Good luck this weekend at TOTB. Cheers, Mark
  4. Well I sold mine straight away for good money in April this year. ONLY place I advertised it was on here and had many e-mails about it. I came back from sea on a Thursday, guy viewed it Friday and took it away Saturday. If he hadn't taken it someone else would've been along. It was relatively lightly but properly modified. It's all about presenting the car in the best condition and the best advert possible. I haven't seen your advert Andy so can't comment, but when I am scanning the classifieds and see things like shocking spelling, scant or wrong details, fixed price "NO OFFERS" - that kind of thing just puts me off and I keep looking. There are plenty people looking for the 'right' car.
  5. An OBD-II cable? Yes I've got one mate but I'm still in Brazil just now. I take it next Thursday will be too late but let me know if not. Cheers, Mark
  6. I say DO IT! Why not?? Be an individual, it's you that owns the car, not this forum. So I say go for it... It will look good on the Hawk..
  7. Actually I found that everyone that drove my Scooby turned into a maniac... (including my mother). Plus everyone empathised that it would be very hard not to drive everywhere flat out because as soon as it starts to boost the natural inclination is to keep it planted. Better driver = yes. Slower driver = no.
  8. Sure I recognise something in those photos...... Awesome mate!!! That looks well worth it, good luck keeping it clean now! That new shiny lip spoiler looks really nice as well!! Is that a new one that's been painted?
  9. Good work mate!! Long as you're the winner it's not stupid..... The only ones that used to actually annoy me were the ones that were clearly no competition, usually due to sitting an inch off my back bumper after every time I cooked them and then backed off. Pointless.. Of course these days I watch and laugh at such shenanigans from my rightful place in the the left hand lanes!! Not for long though.....
  10. What about Auto Trader? Much more coverage than Pistonheads..
  11. Cheers mate but that was back in 2007 so the pain has subsided. The hardest thing about it was that car was a pure minter, solid as a rock, and unbelievably rapid (as standard). I've had 3 Scoobys but I probably miss that one the most. Had a painful couple of months while the insurance sorted it out and then bought the first one I found when I got the money, and regretted it because the one I got (seemingly identical car) wasn't fit to be on the same road as my first one! As for herself, I just said "no I'm not"..... followed 3 or 4 minutes later by an attempted powerslide off a roundabout, followed by a close look at the fence and a touch of whiplash for her! After that she wouldn't have dared rub it in because she knew what it meant to me. She does come up with a few smart comments these days right enough!!!! The bad thing about it was after that she was scared of my Scoobys and didn't like it when I was driving fast.. whereas before I wrecked that one she liked it.. Ah well...
  12. Well done Chris. That's some company you are keeping on that list! Surely this will be a big 'tick' in the list of what the car was built for. Hope everything goes well and the car runs like it should..
  13. Yeah..... 3 lessons learned that day.. (1) REO-70s aren't fans of slush and freezing temperatures.. (2) When your Girlfriend tells you "you're getting too cocky" it's probably because you are.. (3) Fenced central reservations can 'collect' a car fairly well - especially when you hit a main post.. We live and learn....
