  1. Without offending anyone, apparently there is a group of pretty vicious travellers going around just now nicking cars. We have 2 done in Isuzu Troopers lying in the yard that we've now had bits disappearing from in the past week, then a banged up Transit turned up looking to by the rest! Also they snipped the padlock for the gate leading into the farm but must have been spooked because nowt was taken. A friend keeps his Focus RS in a secure compound during work hours (truck driver) where the rear bumper and spoiler were nicked...on 2 seperate occasions. Fingerprints lifted from both times were apparently the same person. Time to hide the car...
  2. http://www.glasgowonline.co.uk/info/14439/ He's used to working on "special" cars. Can't go wrong.
  3. I have a black Saab Aero Imy. I can help out no bother if the wheels are'nt a problem... I know he wanys white or silver, but if he runs into bother finding a car let me know.
  4. Was stuck in the queue ot created on my way to Rosneath for work! 2nd time in as many months. They spun another one on the M77 with lights on but no call. Smashed into the central reservation and wrote off a 5 series then too. Would this be for training purpose, or just acting up a bit!? I steward at various nightclubs in Glasgow on a Friday and Saturday night. When I finish, I always get passed by at least one traffic car going ridiculious speeds, but on these occasions no lights or wail!?
  5. Correctomundo! The car used to belong to another member on here. Cant remember who though...
  6. If you are replacing your rear crankcase seal, you might want to look at a clutch job. If the front crankcase seal is the one being replaced, you might want to look at other things, such as a water pump, timing belt, or related sensors, seals and pulleys.
  7. 2 members having a chinwag outside spotted you tonight mate. We were a distance away when we spotted you, but it looks and sounds great mate.
  8. I'm sure this was owned and resprayed by the lad who used to work for JB Coachworls in Paisley. He had a Red Wagon and it was written off a couple of years ago.
  9. Bulbs!? *AHEM* I presume you mean my driving lights officer?
  10. Thank you all. Im a fusspot when it comes to selecting colours. Went to two garages today to look at cars for the other half, dealers were tripping over themselves to buy the Vectra, sorry Saab. Very happy. Thanks to Neil and Rich for transporting the wheels back and forth.
  11. Right so they are done! Powdercoated by Chameleon in Renfrew. Thoughts?
  12. Yeah well I thought as an Impreza never passed me it must've been a van. Lastnight in the wet reminded me that the tyres I have are crap and can't wait for the new ones to arrive, trying to get the power down was hilarious. I can't even remember undertaking you either I will definately keep an eye out for you next time Mic! What did you think of the wheels?
  13. HaHa really? When was that? If it was lastnight I had a pretty ****ty situation to deal with at work, so was tanking it to get to The Arches. I take it you were'nt in the Impreza!? Usually notice them...
  14. Maybe shouldve explained it better. Position I'm in just now I would need to sell the Saab which is a daily driver. Something as powerful as John's car, everyday would have me scoping my bank balance every 30 secs.
  15. Yes it does help, but if not too much oil is lost from just a filter swap then I'm sure it would'nt be imperative at this stage. Obviously to regain equal distribution after a complete oil change, then yes removing the crank sensor is advised first.
  16. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Pistonhead like everyone else on here and love nothing better than blowing away the competition. I can understand how John's feeling though, it's an everyday car that his heart is no longer in, draining his funds. He's right to get rid of, someone really is getting a nice car when he sells. It may be mad looking but isn't that the appeal!?
  17. I agree mate, at least they've been seen doing something about the theft. I had my car keys stolen for my Impreza in Glasgow a couple of years ago. I had M8 recover it. The truck was stopped by the Police twice on the way home to make sure they had'nt nicked it.
  18. Usually leaks around the filter are caused by remnents of the old seal still being attached, due to the previous fitter not lubricating it first. Stick a clean drainer below the filter, remove and thoroughly clean around where the seal presses against the block with brake cleaner (make sure this doesnt mix with the clean oil). If there are any rough feelings of old rubber, remove it. Lubricate the seal again by sticking your finger in the already drained oil and running it round the rubber. This will also give a good feel for any small stones or even cracks. Twist the filter back on until it stops, then give an extra little nip. Top up the car with the lost oil. Start the car and give it a few minutes. Sometimes good to place a white sheet of paper under whilst idling, sometimes you can never tell if its fresh oil or just crap thats been laying on the ground a while. Take her a run, but dont go too hard incase there is a leak or an issue with the filter, last thing you want is it spinning off due to an ill fit. You just want to warm the car up, if you dont have an oil temp sensor just get the car up to optimum water temperature and then another 10-15 mins of driving. Pull over or get home and have a check. If the problem persists change it back to a Subaru part. Let us know how you get on.
  19. Shame to see you've lost interest. I know the feeling, I keep threatening to buy another Impreza but the Saab has the comfort and not the worst power. Can't think why I need something with 3-400HP for what I use a car for...been there done that. Hopefully the car will be sold on to someone that'll stay in the fold.
  20. Quick Hi-Jack. What foam do you use?
  21. Would'nt surprise me if it has. Bunch of extortionist.
  22. Saved by Terzo Neil. Thanks Mic, bare you in mind for next time!
  23. Same lance as mine Col! Although I got mine from Carwash N Wax (Chemical Guys) with 2.5 litres of foam for £49.99.
  24. Does anyone have axle stands I can borrow tonight?? I'm having my wheels refurbed at Chameleon tomorrow but I've used all my stands (10 of them) on machines at work and am now stranded with 2 jacks and no stands! Anyone who is in the vicinity of Xscape that would be able to drop them off, it would be much appreciated. I know its a big ask at little notice but if not Chameleon want 50 bucks to remove them themselves. NAE CHANCE!
