LOL.. Started off with a suspect dodgy rear nearside wheel bearing, but after stripping it all down and putting it back together after finding nothing wrong, it looks as though the nut on the end of the driveshaft wasn't tighteneed properly as the thread was damaged. I must point out I wasn't the last person to work on that part of the car.. (But I know who was) Good reason why I don't like handing my car over to garages to get work done, you don't know what they get up to.. May also explain why the car felt a bit weird in some corners the past year... But the whole process snowballed into a new set of rear brakes, as it turned out the rears were totally destroyed.. Plenty pad depth but pads split away from the backing on removal But does mean I now have a nice set of grooved discs & Ferrodo DS2500 pads on the rear Unfortunately, also cracked a ABS tone wheel while removing the wheel bearing... Which I haven't yet replaced, got a replacement but cant be a***d stripping the hub down again at the mo.... Got decent brakes for the first time ever now though .. . o O (even if the ABS doesn't work) Got some of that Brake Fluid that you suggested. Not used any yet.. Gonna wait to replace front pads then flush the system with some fresh stuff...

I've got a Thule Roof bar kit for my WRX.. Also got the 591 cycle carrier for it too! Havent bought a bike yet though Good fit, but just take it easy when instaling the bars as they are a bit fiddly to tighten up right..without marking anything... Solid fit though once in place.. Admitedly, not great photos as I set it up while doing othe work on the car so looks much higher than it really is.. Also that bike is an old duff one..

yeah... I think AA (probably RAC too) will assist non members but you will have to pay for it.. They obviously caught onto people just signing up as they got a problem and now charge and extra fee for it.. Quite right really.. But bit of a bugger if you genuinly did sign up and then sods law the car gets borked

Will probably be corrected on this one but I think the search is restricted to Newage (bug and blobs) WRX's STi's and classics have different calipers and arent and exact match. Not sure about hawkeyes.. If you find any for a decent price lemme know.. on the lookout for a rear Nearside one myself.. eBay has a few classic ones for about £20 - £30, as soon as you hit newage terratory it's more £100+

Have I missed something.... Aren't Evo's known for their superior turnin abilities over the Impreza....
-
Have to say... I quite like that!! But then I like cars that are a litlte bit different, but not OTT

That's class! Congratulations mate!

Should do.. Worked for my 01 WRX

They wouldn't insure me for my scoob.. Maybe it's the mods... Been an IAM member since 2003

Hmnn.. I used Millers 300Plus (DOT4 rated) as per Scoobyparts I think it was.. Supposed to be a pretty decent DOT4 fluid but does contain silicone.. I've flushed the brake system several times in seek of decent braking.. May invest in some decent DOT5.1 at somepoint if I'm still not happy.. What type/manufacturer of fluid did you use? BTW - if anyone has a spare brake fluid reseviour cap lemme know! Looking for one to modify for use with power bleeder..

Disarm alarm get in switch on ignition press remote fob button once (while ignition is switched on) Press 4 on the alarm keypad switch off ignition Job done! Doing the same but press 5 on the keypad will disable the auto-lock again.. Similarly 6&7 switches between beeps and no beeps when arming/disarming the system (I have mide beep so I know when I walk away from the car it's armed rather than havign to turn round and look at the flashy indicators.. IIRC EU cars need to have this disabled at point of sale for some sort of regulations, not sure if it's stricly "law" or not, doubt it.. Pressing the * button toggles between quiet and loud beeps for arming/disarming and also door open alert.. (TBH the quiet setting is loud enough, would prefer a sightly queter one (but not silent)

Streetcar Scotland - Total Impreza Photoshoot
scouk replied to micra_wrc's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Spot on!! Well Done! Any piccies of the stand? -
That's nasty! Society is screw up! (but then we already knew that....Grrrr!) Yeah I've set mine to lock when the ignition is switched on and doors are closed.. Simple option on the standard sigma alarm which woudl protect against this sort of carjacking, which isn't enabled as standard!!! .. And if a door is open at the time I pretty much always lock them first chance I get.. In the past, for safety in the event of an accident you are advised not to lock your doors, but TBH I'd rather have the added security.. YOu can always unlock the doors again out of town...

£200 (fleebay of all places ) Had the brake hoses done at the start of last year.. Improoved spongeyness a bit.. But never been happy with the brakes on the car.. Nice and progressive, but lack that "bite" if you know what I mean... Hoping this will help.. was planning on trying DS2500 pads on the front and if that didn't work was goign to look at upgraded calipers... all very expensive..
-
Sweeet! Good job! Actually that sounds promising... I've had the same drone since I fitted grooved discs and Black DIamond pads to the front a year ago.. While working on the rear of the car recently discovered the rear pads are destroyed.. still plenty pad left but they have split and come away from the backing, litterally the pad surface just dropped off when removing Also discs are really badly corroded with lumpy bits and everything.. CAlipers still workinf though! So got a set of grooved discs for the rear and DS2500 pads arriving Hoping to finally have some confidence in the brakes.. once everything is back together

Parade lap round the track! How cool is that! Well done Guys n' Gals for a good display of scoobs!

Same here! There are only two wires goign to each seat, so a simple resisitor should fudge the circuit.. The airbags are activated by a sudden 12V voltage beign sent to them.. Which can sometimes fry the resistor but TBh if that were to happen you would have more to worry about than a blown resitor.. To be safe, wrap a bit of insuraling tape aroudn teh connector/resistor to hold it in place and protect it.. I've never heard anything before about the airbag system as a whole beign disabled as a result of this.. My understanding that there were several different sensors on the car for the airbags. So as to detect what forces are where and deploy airbags accordingly. Also the bucket seats I have in my car were optional bugeye WRX seats and a dealer patches the airbag system by usign a jumper over the conenctor which simply consists of a resistor...
-
Yep.. it's 3ohm... Did the same thing myself, removed the standard sports easts and fitted the tightly fitting WRX Bucket seats with no airbag. Still got loads of resistors left over so if you need any send me a goat with your postal address and i'll send ya some

I take it the SIDC stand aint goign to happen then I'm out anyway... Rear brake pads are completly foo-barred! To the point that the pads have seperated from the backing Good excuse for an Disc/Pad upgrade, I feel some grooved discs and some DS2500 pads may be goign on But probably have to wait till next month . o O (May partially explain why I always feel the brakes on my car are next to useless when on a spirited drive...)
-
Yeah.. few bits of classics goign around but not for newages.. Although classic hub woudl fit woudl require extra specers/adapters and would prefer to get the right part... I'll keep my eyes open though...

PMSL! tempted, been weeks since I've been able to give get out ofr a decent drive! Initially dodgy wheel bearing flagged up at MOT couple months back. Decided to look into it, so stripped all the rear hub off popped the bearing and it looked in pretty good condition.. But the backplate to the hub was a mess and annoyingly while knockign the bearing out the ABS ring split! (seems those things are a little brittle) After a wee bit of head scratchign noticed that the thread on the nut on the end of the driveshaft was slightly damaged which appears to have stopped it being tightered properly Did seem a bit too easy to take off, which could be what was resposnible for the wobbly wheel effect rather than the bearing.. So was trying to get a whole new Hub but no joy at short notice, so now resorted to trying to stick it all back together in the hope it will go back together properly with the origonal bearing.. Got a new backplate made up and stuck on, stuck the ABS ring backtogether with some industrial strength metal glue and lined up properly. Hopefully it'll be roadworthy by the end of the week, still nearvous that the ABS ring might give way while in use depite there being little or no physical load on it. Still want to find a decent replacement at somepoint..

Thinking about it... But the Scoobs off the road at hte mo.. Hopefully get it sorted in the next day or two.. Just need to be certain that one of the wheels doesn't fall off... Probably wont make a decision until the weekend...
-
Yeah! that's one of hte reasons I'm happy to stick with my bugeye for the moment... Quite fancy a Hawkeye STi in the future but the cost would go up quite a bit!

Yeow! I've got one more renewal before I can get rid of my 3 point baggage for tinted windows Currently £575 on MY01 WRX 29y/o, 5y ncd, all mods declared and covered

First I heard of it too.... It's descrimination against us northerners I tells ya! But then I don't read any newpapers.. Useful news usually finds it's way to me.... Not this time though.. Knew about the BTCC at Knockhill but not this.. WOuldn't have been able to make it anyway, but that's not the point
