More drool.... They suit pretty much any car... A lthough Woudl need to be 18's and Ultraleggeras not superleggeras..I prefer the look of the ultra's (not much in it), slightly sharper design.. Shame the bank balance doesn't like them as much

I've got a spare set of newage WRX wheels kickign aroudn that I've been wantign to recondition.. Planning a full rub down and repaint (possibly silver again) ANy hints/ suggestions on what to use & what to look out for ? . o O (*drool* at the thought of Oz Ultraleggeras... )

Maybe we shoudl start nominations for a golden cock award.. Last year I "somehow" mixed up the bottles of gear oil and brake fluid oil...Needless to say the brake fluid got a complete flush..
-
That's a bloody shame... I'm sure those parts could be sourced for less than half that.. But then cost of spraying (if necessary) and cost of getting a garage to install it all would chuck costs up.. Depends on the extent of the damage.. The front members and stuff could well be 'softened' with the extreme heat, which could be seen as comprimising safety

Yeow! that looks pretty nasty! Well done for havign smoke alarms in the vicinity! COudl have been a whole lot worse! Interested to know if you discover the cause of this.. Looks pretty localised right at the front.. Perhaps hot exhaust ignighting the untertray or something, and heat/flames wrapping over the front? I don't think there's anything electrical at the front/middle.. Hope the insurance is kind...

Wow! that's a good price! Where was that from?

Sounds a bit odd that you have one tyre completely different wear than the rest! Agree with the above comments.. When I first got my impreza it had mismatched tyres front/rear and handling was a bit unpredictable.. Fresh set of bridgestones all round and things were far better balanced! BTW - How many people actually rotate your tyres front to rear? I've spoken to a few drivers about this recently and very few have even thought about rotating tyres to even up tyre wear. I guess it could cause an imbalance for a while until they settle into their new role but does mean more even tyre wear over the life of the tyre.. *coughs* depending on how hard you drive

He hee.. Heres to the next 10 years Ok.. Will stick with aiming for a set of decent winter tyres rather than socks. Sounds like you give them a decent enough test ... Got the unused first aid kit and wardning triangle too.. YOu never know..
-
Holy Mother of **** !!! They look evil! Has anyone had any experience with snow socks? http://www.activeoutdoors.info/activeoutdoors/Article91.html Heard about them a few years ago but never known anyone that's used them.. Was goign to buy a set of winter tyres last year never had the cash spare.. Will have do somethign about that this year.. Got a spare set of wheels I can use now.. Any idea on the price of the tyres mentioned above? Lookign online prices look to be aroudn £160 a corner on 17"

Hah! cool.. so any stories about alarm systems going haywire ot losing codes is mostly garbage on standard cars at least..

Can't speak for anyone else here but for me yeah.. I see the fun of fitting a roll cage and stuff but why not get a regular Impreza and do it from that.. The special editions are special because of their identity, if you start muckign around with them then they loose that identity.. Ok it potentially becomes a one off which makes it more exclusive, but you can do so same modifications to a standard impreza, why ruin what was already a special edition. I'm not against modding, My bugeye doesn't exactly have the same styling as it had when it left the factory...But I will confess, I do have a bit of a fettish for the special editions. Maybe the odd modification here for brakes/suspension things that help maintain the cars quaity over the aging years, but their sole identity should remain.. If it didn't have the option of a fat exhaust, BIG scoop or silly lights when new then they shouldn't be fitted with them! IMHO P.s. SCZScoob - Car's lookin shaweeet!.. We really need to try get some local group shots this year!
-
I don't have a problem with people doing their own thing mod wise.. Some I like some I don't... Remove the rear chavvy lights and it's looks.. erm.. different! But to take a special edition and do that do it! That's a waste of what was a perfectly good car! And woudl be worth a LOT more if it was kept standard or even more or less standard.. Sadly even buying it and returning it to standard form would not bring back much value as the paint has changed colour! Such a shame...

Not necessarily Jump starting related, but if anyone is concerned about havign a battery removed for an extended period of time and then the alarm system screwing up! I recently had the battery out of mine for about 4 weeks.. Plugged it back in the other day just to get thee fluids moving and it fired up no problem at all!

Hi Richard! Welcome Been a bit quiet in Moray lately for meets and stuff but do keep an eye out on the events section for anything that comes up Don't forget to post some piccies
-
Eep! My scoob hasn't moved an inch for the last 4 weeks! Might be an idea to dig it out this weekend and check that all is well.. Some great pics on this thread

These things don't work regardless.. The induction pressure of sucking the air is more powerful than the 12v fan can provide.. Also sticking a fan (or any object) in the intake only blocks off the flow and potentially if it breaks you end up with bits of plastic goign through the engine! If you have one.. remove it! Seriously!

I'd love to know what it is in peoples heads that make them do this, must be sonethign seriously wrong with them and more than just jealousy. I'm jealous of peopel who drive Zonda's but I wouldn't go aroudn pouring paint stripper on their cars.. Maybe drool!.. I really can't understand why, what do people get out of it! The fact that someone took the effort to get paint stripper and target the car rather than a keyd driveby or something. I'd be looking for limbs on rusty spikes if that happened! I dread to think what the costs of repair are to that. A simple respray wouldn't be enough as it's chemically damaged CCTV is definately the way to go, and a decent high res set-up with motion detection to try identify the buggers!.. ... A big dog and shortgun would be handy too

Good thread explaining the potential hazzads of aftermarket filters: http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/engine-modif...lter-users.html Good read and explains what you have to put up with..

Quality!

Forgot about those... Was going to use them, but woudl rather have more to dish out than just the 4.. But since I have used the 4 yet I'm not aware of anything specific.. But I understand something is being worked on Can't remember who it was but someone on here made up a Scottish SCoobies one a few years back.. Did have a copy of it somewhere, but can't find it at short notice...

Sounds about right... This stuff is beign advertised to buggery on one of the digitial shopping channels at the moment.. Looks impressive with their little white lies.. Yes it is a dirty body panel you have.. and yes look how quickly it wiped off and look at how cleanand shiny the surface is.. FACT - It's not possible to get that level of finish on a aged body panel just by simply cleaning it.. THe panels on the demos are pre-polished and possibly pre-waxed.. Then just covered in grime without givign it time to get a grip! (pun intended) Sure it didn't "appear" to leave any scratches but it will.. Overtime you'll start to see the scratches showing! Even doing the full method of snow foaming/two bucket mitting and taking extra care at what your doign will increase scratches.. Admitely on a much reduces level but any contact with the surface is likely to damage it.. I'm sure the stuff works in a reasonable way but I don't believe the shpeel that it can bring back a showroom shine on a 10year old car which has been used every day in it's life and completely remove fading throgh oxidisation in a single use, I'd be very impressed if it could!.. But I wouldn't expect to use it without seeing scratches over time. Maybe use it for light dusting off or as a detailing spray, but any mud gunk and especially this time of year, grit and salt, I wouldn't touch it.. If you want a job done.. Do it properly!

^^^ Same here.. That's similar to what I discovered after fitting.. Although I do clean it out every few months just to keep on top of it.. No bad side effects from running it.. It's been 2 years now.. As euan suggets standard would do, but the green filter was cheaper than a new one at the time.. I heard the filters from teh STi's are supposed to be pretty good to or alternative Foam ones.. But you probably not goign to see any staggering performance difference.. THe standard intake on the impreza, albeit a bit bendy is supposed to be pretty damned effective for normal levels of performance.. Also, if a filter claims to be "high-flow" that' most likely means it potentially lets more crap through as well and does less filtering... The Green and K&N panel filters are similar with a mesh which is coated ina thin film of oil which is what is used as a filter, so they need to be cleaned and re-oiled avery so often for them to be workign properly.. But if you over oil them the oil can get pulled through the filter and start clogging up sensors and stuff..

I thought they made snowchains illegal for road use the these days Never mind.. Roads are mostly passible with care.. Still penty slushy stuff around: http://www.trafficscotland.org/lev/index.aspx?mi=11 Not sure about today but heard on the radio couple days ago that the police were stopping non 4wd vehicles from heading up... How specific that is I'm not sure, since Impreza are obviously 4wd One thing for sure though is that it's sounded like it's been packed out by lunchtime and people were being advised not to head for the afternoon as they probably wouldnt' get in.. That was yesterday...

Just remember and use plenty fixing bolts.. Holes already exist under the bumper to accomodate it
-
Snow is a bit of a bugger with them because it acts as a plow and digs itself in but elsewhere in the event of and impact the splitter takes the brint of hte force rather than destoying your entire bumper... I'd rather replace the splitter than the front end anyday! Deer anyone! I've got a fibreglass one but I beleive HT Autos now do a range of more flexible ones.. Not sure how well they paint up though..
