D'oh! Just out of interest, do you still have the results from last years test? Interested to see what the emissions were then..
-
Your going to need a catalytic converter in the somewhere (even a sports cat) to get the emissions down, additive stuff wont drop your emissions much unless you have a groggy engine... And yeah 5" backbox probably is a bit much for the noise levels
-
Whats your current exhaust configuration? I'm running with just the downpipe cat in place with PPP backbox (newage WRX) and on MOT emissions it's slap bang in the middle of the tolerance.. However it will fail if theres a bad join or a small hole anywhere..!!
-
It'll probably be getting karted up and down the country by the McRae Vision Charity to help promote the charity so will be viewable till then.. They had it as the Northern Big One a few weeks back
-
Credit crunch or not.. I'll still be driving a scooby ... Hopefully the Iraqi's will be a nice friendly bunch by then too
-
Cool! Might be worth a trip down sometime to have a looksee once it's opened up!
-
Bit of a muddle, but glad you got it sorted in the! Not much loss in bhp and still a ton of torque! Good results! As for spending that money for a quieter less powerful car.. The car was seriously loud!! From both front and and back end! Not to mention the mapping was slightly off, didn;t help that It has a greddy boost controller on it which overrides the ECU, much safer to let the ECU deal with that properly, un less you really want the manual contol! The car was constantly stinking of fuel so a remap was needed to sort that out at least. Besides BHP is just for bragging rights down the pub, the torque is still kept nice and high, so it should still pack a punch! And be more driver friendly thanks to the wizadry!

That looks Spot on! Well done for organising this!

What's the story with T&C in Aberdeen these days? Are they still a "official" subaru parts/servicing station?
-
Yep thanks Cathy! Good to hear someone managed to take it back down the road again! I bet the shiny reg wagon helped
-
Ahh crap! forgot about the recall... If that's the remap your referring to then yeah any dealer should do.. (Even Aird ) One of two things will happen, either they will swap out the ecu with the new one, or load on the off the shelf map to the ECU (Not sure how they actually go about it).. Surely they can't balls that up.. and worst case scenario it's their responsibility...
-
I wasn't aware that Aird motors were able to do such things.. If they are, I probably wouldn't go for them as I'd want to hear lots of good feedback about it first.. As Gee suggests, AndyF is you man.. But it's is a fair trek.. Next closest would probably be Wallace Performance in Aberdeen.. Admittedly I think their experience is more focussed to Evo's but they have done quite a lot of Scoobs as well. Few folk on here use them for remaps with good results.. They use EcuTek on a rolling road so should be safe enough..
-
Top Job with the Scoob! Great example of what can be achieved after years of abuse on the paint! The results can be BETTER than new! Nice work! Once the major work has been done, it's work keeping it in goo nick by regular TLC

Keep and eye out here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/tv/bbc_two/fa...cars_and_motors should arrive there soon.. Series 13 Ep 3 As for JC's final comment on next weeks show "Declare war on british army" I guess that's where he trashed the Evo then

Big thanks to Peter_W who's just picked up the stand and will be taking it through to Alford tomorrow! Have a good one guys n' gals!
-
Wow that's really quite agressive looking! Totally different approach to what I've done with my red bugeye, but Me likey! really suits the black skirts and splitter now!! Only responding because I know the answers... Splitter was HT-Autos and eyelids came from me, which I bought from the US via eBay.. Never fitted them myself, ended up getting a set of STi/JDM headlights before I put the eyelids. on... They really sort out the styling of the bugeye IMHO..

Stewart Road (I think)
-
YOu a star!! Goat sent back! P.s. make sure you boot is empty! Yeah, that's my thoughts.. No one has volunteered from that side yet.... Hopefully someone can take it down the road and drop it back off with Paul who last i heard will be keeping hold of it..
-
No worries... Yeah got chopped up two weeks ago .. Thought I'd be ok to drive about now, but nah not really Had my dad lined up for takin the stuff through for me, but turns out he's now got to work tomorrow.. Yeah as long as there is a Ski hatch or foldy down seats the stuff should fit in an Impreza... Blocks off access some to handbrake and maybe gearstick but drivable.. P.s. Can someone cornfirm the stand could be taken south after the event?
-
Now before I get countless replies and goats saying how this should have been organised sooner, your right, and TBH I don't care.. Problem: I have the SIDC stand which needs to be chucked through to Alford this weekend but I'm unable to take it through myself. Problem2: I did have someone who could take it through for me tomorow, but I've just dicovered that their shifts have changed and are now working first thing tomorrow morning and can't take it!! And the battery in the subaru is dead because it's been siing for weeks without being used..grrrr!! Is there anyone from the area heading through who's able to take the stand through for the event? The plan was to have someone from down south take it back down that way after the event, so hopefully that is still possible.? Thanks,
-
That's good news john!! Unfortunately I wont be able to help set things up this year, still recovering from a recent op.. On that note, I still have the SIDC stand and not sure if I'll be able to bring it through to Alford on Sunday morning.. Just out of interest, what time are the "organisers" going to be opening the gates on the Sunday? May need to ask for a "volunteer" with a sensible car to pick up the SIDC stand from me on the saturday or something...
-
Not sure I'd get rid of it TBH.. As a coupel folk have mentioned, try get a "sensible" car and keep hold of hte scoob for those special occasions I've taken it to extreme and got myself a 1997 Ford Ka for running about in.. Will save me lots per month and even more in teh long run.. Worked it out when I was looking for a small car. After the first 8 months I'd start savign money.. This was taking into account £1,000 for a 2nd hand car, cost of insurance / tax / mot for 12 months but the difference in fuel costs means I save a lot of money!.. That's not taking into accountless wear and tear on the scoob, less miles totting up, and generally that grin factor everytime you get behidn teh wheels of it again! I won big time with that plan as I got the Ka for £0.00.. £235 for insurance 0 NCB as it's a new policy £125 road tax, £30 to fill the tank, 280miles and still the wee fuel light hasn't come on It's used for running in and out of work every day (10 miles each way) with 1 mile of the journey done down a farm track which buggered a set of new dampers on teh scooby withing 6 months! P.s. yes I know it's a Ka (Was actually looking for something more like a 1.4l Focus).. But it's surprisingly Decent! Great aroudn town, good feelign through the steering, a wheel at every corner virtuaolly no overhangs. It's like a go-kart! Suspension and brakes are a bit iffy though, but surprising amount of grip and feels stable at any "sensible" speed.. As long as the road isn't too bumpy.. Suspensions is a bit... welll odd.. Ok in the bends but doesn't link bumpy roads.. Especially bendy bits with bumps

LOL! yeah your probably right.... There seems to be somethign about events, Scoobies and newbies.. PeterW got the award at the SIDC event at alford last year... ok.. i think he was the only scooby in the show n' shine section but still! Just out of interest.. (and because I've forgotten) what is the official colour name for the WR1? Someone asked me during the show but I couldn't remember.. keep those pics coming! If there is going to be more interest next year, I've no idea where we're goign to put all the cars.. We were limited to 13 in the end and at one point there were 13 (ish.. last 2 were in the carpark a few metres away) Anyway, Forgot I still had a special photo I took with my phone, as a reminder of what triggered this event to take place in the first place. Stuart "Stu" Harper... RIP: & to the many other young drivers, including our very own Mark Gardiner, who have tragically been killed on our local roads... ... Take it easy out there... . . http://www.morayiam.org.uk/ And finally... Can you tell where the inspiration came from for this photo (not taken by me BTW..)

Yep, echo the comments above. Was a great event for a great cause! Even got grabbed for a brief interview for local radio station Big thanks to everyone who made it along today! Good to get the locals back together again and meet some new faces too! How quickly did everythign get packed away neatly at the end of the day Very impressed Also big thanks especially to PeterW for not only being one of the many organisers of the Rrralyee event but also for donating a couple SIDC Flags/Sails to the Moray region!! WoW! As davey l wrx mentioned, had a a few discussions with the guys from Bitz Motorsport from Nairn who run their own Impreza's in the SCottish Rally Championship and are building their own Murtaya cars!. Things look promising for being able to come up with a discount scheme for SIDC members! For parts, servicing and labour costs. Nothing agreed yet, but woudl be good to have a local company which we can trust to work on our cars and do servicing without having to travel several hours for a garage! Also seems like we may finally get some sort of deal / fun day out with the skid-car scotland guys!! Stay tuned for that one! Finally talks with other several people at the event (including the local IAM group, Bitz Motorsport and our very own davey l wrx) shows a LOT of support for getting use of one of the many airfields in the area to host local motoring events along with putting together a sprint track and who else knows! Wont be an overnight task but need to get the ball rolling on this over hte next year or so and see what can be done! Once again, thanks for a great day out, weather was brilliant openign up to the sun in teh afternoon and not a spot of rain! Here's to Rrralyee 2010!! Some piccies: THe SIDC stand! Yeah BabY!! Probably the biggest stand of the day.. No award for it though The Evo's!... Pah! Outnumbered! Although respect to this one... Clearly too much time on his hands, but WoW! Forgot to bring my cuddly Scooby Mascot but no worry! jenniec76 took along her real life one!!! One of Bitz Motorsports Murtaya's And finally Cullenmin meets his idol Stig seems shorter in real lfe More event piccies here: http://www.scouk.net//gallery/2009_rrrrallye/ Thanks to everyone involved with this event! You did good! http://www.rrrrallye.co.uk/
