I was there, racing my mates Castrol Celica mostly... couldnt get the car off the line and then later in the day, the massive queues were making the car too hot by the time you got to race. I wasn't hitting peak boost at any time yesterday, apart from first run when it was cold and damp. Still had a good laugh though which is what its all about. Cheers, Grant

Could it maybe be the Diff? Cheers, Grant

My newage STi can be a bit of a caaaant to put into 1st occasionally when its cold... again, just assumed it was a 6-spd thing and ignored it. Dont remember any of my 5-spd Scoobs doing it though. Cheers, Grant

Its good thanks mate, got some Defis fitted.. a replacement front splitter (old one got rather cracked) and I'm going to be fitting a couple of strut braces in the near future too. After that, its just some whiteline kit and I'm finished.. for the time being, unless anything detrimental happens in which case I may choose to take things further suspension/performance-wise as it'd be silly to replace standard with standard IMO. Hows things with the Chinese500+, did you get your wee problems sorted out alright?? Cheers, Grant

Should have asked me at the meet mate, cause I'm running a full de-cat Meercat system on my Spec-G... You basically tell them how you want it to sound, and it sounds that way when its finished. Cheers, Grant

There is a guy on here that imports these cars and I havent heard a bad thing said about him yet.. think his username is Chapman81 or something along those lines, might be worth a wee PM to him to see what he can get hold of for you. Actually, probably best to see if I've got that username right before trying to PM, I'm sure someone will be along shortly that knows what the correct username is. Cheers, Grant

I've always changed two at a time at least... keeping the sale tread depth on the same axle. I've no idea if thats right or wrong as I've heard the "4WD = 4 tyres at once" thing too but have never experienced problems and I've had quite a few of these cars with varying levels of power and degrees of use. Cheers, Grant

Sounds like the mods I've either got fitted to my car, or ear-marked for my car... and gotta say, you wont be disappointed with that little lot. Cheers, Grant

Craig, keep me posted on the A-Line Lip thing with HT Autos if they consider doing it... the more I look at it, the more I realise that its quite nice.............. lol, and I'm getting the urge to remove my spoiler again looking at those pics. Thanks for the comments on the car too guys, appreciate it. Cheers, Grant

Half the fun is the return trip from Port Seton.. but damn they are good figures, that'll be awesome to see go once the wee issue has been cleared up. Cheers, Grant

You're well beyond help now mate... Crazy Horse was feckin impressive before, I cant imagine what a tool it'll be with all the new bits fitted. Awesome. Cheers, Grant P.S - I'm only 46 re-maps behind you.... Haha!!

Here we go mate, give you an idea of how it might look... like I say, I'm not actually too convinced by it, but then havent seen one 'in the flesh' to make a proper decision about it. Its easy enough to remove your standard spoiler to see how you get on with it.. I used a packet of rubber grommets to pop into the holes on the bootlid to stop water getting in. ....and here are a few pictures I took of mine when I removed the spoiler completely. Hope that helps a wee bit. Cheers, Grant

I was... then I put my spoiler back on... then took it off... and its currently back on. I cant make my mind up, cause from some angles, the low-level WRX one really suits the car but from other angles I really like the no-spoiler look. I've actually seen a few pics of the A-Line Spoiler on another Spec-D and to be honest, I'm not convinced by it. I'll go dig out the pics of it and fire them up for you. I also couldn't find anyone apart from Subaru that knew what I was talking about, ok, you could probably use another lip spoiler...... but chances are that it wont fit as well as something thats been designed for the Subaru, by Subaru themselves. Cheers, Grant

Good to hear mate... you wont be disappointed with the Hawkeye, did you get it from up north or down my way? Cheers, Grant

I got a single finger salute from a woman in a parked Seat Ibiza when I was out having the car mapped by Andy F and 'accidentally' let out a few pops and bangs... that was amusing. Cheers, Grant

21k, hmmm... I'm on less than a 1/3 of that just now and it never really sits in traffic, so fingers crossed I've got a bit of life left on mine!! I'd say that you're better with an organic kit rather than a paddle. Cause the car does commuting a paddle would probably get on your t!ts as they are pretty harsh, I'm speaking from experience there. Cheers, Grant

What mileage is on your car out of interest?? Would have though something along the lines an Exedy Kit will do the job, but probably best to buy something rated to 450-500lb/ft so that its well within its comfort zone. I'll keep an eye on this thread, as its probably just a matter of time for me too.... haha Cheers, Grant

.....engines are the same but the P1 is not actually mapped for UK fuel, its a stock Version 5 map and they just dropped a fuel broquette into the tank to raise the RON of UK fuel.. once thats disintigrated then thats when the problems start, hence so many have had a rebuild.. at least, that is what was explained to me a while ago when I asked the question. Cheers, Grant

Without checking, I think that I'm running my Newage on 225/40/18 at the moment and everything seems fine and speedo/gps tie-up well... dont think it'll make a massive difference, but its likely to be a slightly better ride with a thicker sidewall on the 40 profile. Tyre choice is really a personal thing, from my point of view, I've tried Pirelli, Michelin, Toyo, Goodyear, Avon etc etc...... and the best I've found for Wet/Dry performance is the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 XL tyres. However, I heard they are being discontinued and the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asimetric is replacing them, a couple of tests have shown that they are still great performers so I'll be trying them when my current set wears out. Cheers, Grant

Thanks mate, I'm really happy with the car now that I have 'personalised' with the wheels etc. You should have come over and said Hi. Gordon, haha, my dog was never a fan of my Blue Wagon... he was in it once in 9 months... Cheers, Grant

Aye, its a nice car you've bought mate... once you've had a Scoob, its hard not to come back for more. Cheers, Grant

IMO, your peace of mind will be massively increased if buying a Newage STi... stiffer shell, stronger box, stronger bottom end, pretty unstressed turbo etc. Plus, dont worry about an STi being too soft, they have quite an 'informative' ride. Pretty sure that a Stock Newage STi is 265ps with the PPP taking it to 305ps. However, with a basic de-cat/sports cat system, filter, fuel pump and re-map then you'll be around 325bhp which makes for a quick car that would definitely pull from your Classic WRX, as standard though, I'd be surprised if there was a massive amount in it although your current car should pull away slightly being 280bhp in a lighter car. Cheers, Grant

I'd only recommend Meercat.. absolutely amazing to watch your exhaust take shape, the welds are spot on, the quality is brilliant and they will make sure they are totally happy with it before you leave.. even if it means staying behind well past finishing time and taking things off and re-adjusting them. Cheers, Grant

I've got a Hayward & Scott system from my Hawkeye sitting here... got the Jap Angled Backbox and bung too. Great burble without being crazy loud!! Cheers, Grant

Touch of Gordon Ramsay there at the end... "done" haha Good to hear you're happy mate, will be even better once bedded in and working as they should. Cheers, Grant
