  1. Think I'll be using Hypertech in the near(ish) future too... defo gonna be worth the trip from the kingdom. Cheers, Grant
  2. Had 4 Classics... Now have a Hawkeye... Dont use it other than when weather is nice/owners club meetings, so really should have a no-nonsense Classic sitting there thats only aim is to put a big childish grin on my face, make lots of noise and tear up the b-roads. But after the couple of wee bits I've done, my Hawkeye (IMO) looks soooo aggressive at the front end and I really like the understated, sleeper thing too. Honestly, after having my car for just over a year now (a record for me), I love it. Plus with the 2.5, Brembos, DCCD 6-spd box, etc its got all the ingredients that I'd probably end up throwing in a Classic... so I'm happy enough to trade a few 100kg to stay in a car engineered with the uprated bits fitted as standard. That said, if I saw a mint, low mileage, Version 6 Type R in Black, then I'd find it very hard not to jump back to the Classic side again. Cheers, Grant
  3. I run fully synthetic 15/50 Motul 300V in my Hawkeye STi. Cheers, Grant
  4. Bronze wheels look grrrrreat on the car mate. Cheers, Grant
  5. Looks great, defo needs the STi Rears to finish it off though. Cheers, Grant
  6. Good to hear Craig... hope the insurance company dont drag their feet and you get sorted out with another Scoob a-sap. Cheers, Grant
  7. Thats terrible news mate, your car was very clean and I always followed its progress with interest, being another Spec.D and all.. it is worrying how no airbags were triggered, but the car looks to have held up pretty well considering the impact it took, but the main thing is that you are still around to tell the tale. Cheers, Grant
  8. Thanks to JC... Its just gone 2am, and I'm posting this on my phone as I hide behind a wheeliebin waiting for The Helmetsucker to have a pop at the Spec-G. Not really, but I have to say that the idea of him "throwing me off the scent" did cross my mind bud, guess we'll have to wait and see... just made sure my tracker subscription is up to date. Seano & Hepy, if you want to make me an offer then feel free, but I think the cars that you boys have got are a bit high value for me to consider. Cheers, Grant
  9. Definitely going to take a few bottles of octane booster with me in case 'normal' 95RON is all that is available... Cheers, Grant
  10. I had TRD thermostat on my pretty highly modified Celica GT4 and I saw the same thing happen as Euan, on the dual carriageway my temp gauge would sit on the minimum marker.. and once tooling around town/more spirited twisties then it would creep back up. Dont know if it was cooling down to the point of being unsafe to boost it though... its not quite that extreme I dont think. Haha, I hope not, I sold that Celica in good faith!! Cheers, Grant
  11. Haha, this is true... Cheers, Grant
  12. Its priced at the high level of Classic prices... but it has a LOT of mods and money spent on it. The guy that viewed it is right, you can pick up a clean and decent V5 or V6 STi saloon for around 6-7k, but with the money spent on the mods your car has got then he'd be looking at spending 2-3k easy to buy and have them fitted to his 7k car. Problem is, as a lot of people know, you dont tend to get much/if any money back on mods you make to a car.. mileage, history and condition are still the biggest things people look at. IMO. Your suspension set-up looks awesome by the way.. bet it handles like its on rails with that lot. Its almost exactly what I'd throw at another Classic if I sell the Spec-G. Cheers, Grant
  13. IIRC someone told me that if you take the stat out and put it in a bowl of hot water.. it should pop, if it doesnt pop, its knackered. Cheers, Grant
  14. Nice car, good results... and lovely brakes/rear spoiler. Cheers, Grant
  15. Thats the kind of buyer I like Col... straight to the point, no bull$hit... Text from him this morning, which was pretty rude as I've spent a fair bit of time e-mailing specific photos, talking to him on the phone, answering questions etc...... "bought a car locally, cheers for your help" was all the text said. So luckily for him, I'll never get the chance to meet him fist to face, oops, I mean face to face. Total cock. Cheers, Grant
  16. Ok, so for 30 litres of normal 95ron... how many ml would I add to it to keep things safe?? I'm up for throwing some in my 'dog car' and seeing if there is any difference. Cheers, Grant
  17. That looks awesome in Black... Really like that. Cheers, Grant
  18. Whiteline is my next target if things stay the way they are, i.e: I keep the Spec-G. Sounds like a similar upgrade package that I'd be going for too, heard nothing but good things about about Whiteline/Hypertech too. Cheers, Grant
  19. Not sure about the painted interior, but the wheels look great and the STi rear lights really change the back of a Classic IMO... Cheers, Grant
  20. I just have a mobile number for him and an e-mail address... so I suppose there might be a way of tracking him through t'internet if things go t!ts up. lol @ carebears, possibly.. although he has taken it waaaay further than other timewasters that have been in touch. Cheers, Grant
  21. Ok, as most of you know, I'm making a half-ar$ed attempt as selling the Spec-G and I'd forgotten how much crap I'd get... not to mention the 3rd world companies that promise to sell my car for me. Here is some conversations I've had with one particular enquiry that came from a Pistonheads E-mail I got (this is a long post by the way): "Yea mate I'm calling about the Subaru you've got for sale? Is it still available?" "Ok, yes, its still around" "Great, I defo want your car, its got the exact mods I'd put on one.. looks great bla bla bla bla" "Thats fine, when do you want to come up for a look around it then?" "I'll fly up on Friday, will fly straight to Dundee" "Thats fine, I'll pick you up from the airport and we can head back to my house so you can look over the car" "Brilliant, I'll call you with my flight times once I've booked" "Fine, talk to you then" ..........few days go by, sent a text on the Wednesday to see if he had booked his flights. Got a phonecall that evening: "Hi mate, not going to fly up anymore, going to hire a car and drive up and look at a few scoobs on the way to yours.." "Ok, is that not about 600 miles?!" "Yea, just want to make sure I'm getting a good deal...." "Well, since you contacted me on Pistonheads, you'll see the other 2007 STi cars on there are priced higher than mine and dont have the money spent on them already but thats fine, when can I expect you?" "It'll be around 2pm, are you ok with an RAC Inspection?" "Yep, the car is spot on and I understand the need for an inspection when spending this amount of money. Gives you a wee bit more peace of mind" "Right, can I get your details so I can book inspection??" "Sure, bla bla bla... (all details given)" "Great, so I'll go and book that and let you know when they are going to be out to do the inspection, talk to you later" "No bother, bye for now" ..........phonecall about 3 hours later, pretty damn late on in the evening now: "Hi Grant, got a bit of a problem..." "Ok, whats that?" "Been called into work on Friday, wont be able to come up til the following Friday.." "Thats fine, did you get through to the RAC about this Friday?" "No, err, not booked that until I know when I'm coming up" "Ah right, when I got an inspection done, I got it done before I'd arranged to travel down to see the car. They send out a written report that you look over and judge if its worth the trip or not, at least, thats what I used the report for" "Hmmm, what if you drove down (600miles away from me BTW), I got the inspection done on the Saturday at my house and if everything is ok give you the money and your flight home?" "No mate, I'm not putting 600 miles on the car so you can get an inspection done to see IF you want it or not.. I'm really in no rush to sell it, so if you are free next week then by all means come up to view/inspect the car at my house" "Ok, well I'll be in touch next week" "Fine, talk to you then" Now, I'm a suspicious kinda guy and when someone starts messing me about like this it just makes me worse, haha.. he has all the details of my car, my address and (mobile) phone number. But is now seriously stalling and not willing to leave even a minimal deposit or commit to a time to view the car..... am I being lined up for some dodgy dealings?? My old man reckons that if I'm worred then I should maybe stick the car somewhere else for a couple of weeks just to be on the safe side, because I only 'think' this guy is in England as I dont have an address for him and am going by what he's said and his accent. He could well be living 5 mins down the road from me and planning to take my car, told you I was suspicious!! Flip side to that is, if he is a thief, he's obviously not a have-a-go-hero so he probably wouldnt think twice to breaking into the house to get the keys.......and he wouldn't be happy if the car isnt here. Whats your impression of the contact I've had with him?? Or, the other option I'm thinking is that he is just a dreamer that would love my car but has no actual intention of buying it, which is probably more likely?! Cheers, Grant
  22. Guy in Kirremuir does AWESOME paint/body work and I wouldnt have a problem recommending him after the job he did on my sisters CTR after some ar$e tore the rear quarter panel open with a 4x4 + towbar. He isnt cheap, but he's the best I've seen. I'm also in Fife, but travelled to get work done by him. Cheers, Grant
  23. Finished: No longer adding parts to this stage... in an attempt to concentrate on whats sitting in your loft for the next stage. Cheers, Grant
  24. I soooooo want a Black V5/V6 Type-R scoob.. always thought that car looked awesome, was a few years ago that I last heard it, but think I'm right saying it sounded pretty special too. Cheers, Grant
  25. Should add to the peace of mind mate... quality bits just keep finding their way onto your car, lol, thought you were finished?? Cheers, Grant
