Just thought I'd tease you before I replied mate... Good to hear you're starting to settle in with Finlay, not so good to hear you're considering a move away from the Marque. Depending on year you're looking at, surely you could transfer over some of your mods to a Wagon?? Cheers, Grant

Cheers for the comments.. lol, I might get another bootlid to smooth off so that I can chop and change to my hearts content, so the spoiler isn't totally safe yet!! I had a complete set-up of 60mm gauges sitting ready to fit to the car, but by chance looked through the sale section of SN and spotted these Defis, Controller II, Sensors/Senders and Pod for a really good price. Always fancied having some Defi Gauges so just went for them and punted the other set-up. They match the standard clocks really well and perform the same opening ceremony too. Although I got mine privately, a couple of my friends have bought their Defi set-ups from the online shop, Nengun. The pops and bangs are awesome fun, the ones on mine are quite severe and I probably couldnt live with them day to day, but as I dont use my car other than on nice days or for enjoyment then I'll keep them as it adds to the experience. Its something that you can ask Andy (or any other mapper I guess) to open up when you are getting your car re-mapped..... I got told that I couldnt have them as mine was a 2.5, but with a bit of fiddling here and there, Andy made it work. Frank, the car sits on Rota P1 alloys mate.. they were brand new out when I got them and I hadn't seen another Newage Scoob with bronze coloured wheels on it. Cheers, Grant

Having seen/driven the new STi... it'll be interesting to compare the new EVO once they arrive and demo's are registered. Cheers, Grant

On this car, Checkpoint have fitted the Tein springs for me... but have fitted diffs, cambelts, brakes, de-cats, ARBs, exhausts etc for me in the past on other Scoobs, GT4s, Hondas etc that I've owned. As I'm through in Arbroath a lot to see friends/family, I tend to use them as my first port of call if I need something fitted. What you wanting fitted, modifying it already!? Cheers, Grant

I appreciate all the comments.. I'm really happy with the car now, got a list of people I'd like to thank for work they've done for me or bits they've gotten hold of for me. Checkpoint Garage in Arbroath - 01241 879 999 AWD Motorsport in Perth - 01738 633 336 Meercat Exhausts in Kilbirnie - 01505 685 235 Andy Forrest Performance in Port Seton - 01875 810 439 That was a wee bit oscars-ish I know , but personally I think its good to let people know of places that do good work rather than just hearing about places when you havent had such a good experience. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend every one of these places for their work, no complaints at all. Cheers, Grant

...and being a nice day the car wasn't too dirty so I stopped for a couple of pics before I headed home. Also took a wee video of the car with new exhaust and over-run pops and bangs courtesy of Mr F in Port Seton as a few people had been asking how severe mine were compared to other ones he's done. Only real differences since my last pics are a replacement front splitter, the Defi's and the Meercat exhaust. You can hear the exhaust and over-run stuff . Cheers, Grant

Before pic... although not on totally flat surface, gives you an idea... After pic... I'd never try and get to that wee grassy bit in the first pic with the Teins fitted!! Cheers, Grant

I've got Tein's fitted to my Spec D... I fitted 18's with Eagle F1's at the same time and there was an improvement in ride quality as the Bridgestone RE070 are really stiff. I went with Tein as I wanted the car to be slightly lower than the Prodrive Kit drops the car. I'll go try and dig out a couple of pics for you, before and after. Cheers, Grant

I'm not a lover of graphics on a Scoob, but thats maybe because they are always some variation of the SWRT thing... with a few more added, that Monster Scheme is gonna look pretty different. I like it so far mate and I'm glad to hear there was no laquer lifted. Cheers, Grant

Just awesome, seeing cars like this really tempts me back to the Classic side.... bet its something else to drive. Top car. Cheers, Grant
-
That looks like a minted V4 Type-R there... very nice!! Imy, they're not all Classics, there is a cheeky White Hawkeye STi as part of the fleet too. Cheers, Grant
-
Nah, its a bit different to the mahoooosive Prodrive Spoiler on a Hawkeye... its vaguely like the spoiler on a UK300, but its pretty unique to the S204. I only know about those Rotas as I'm considering the same thing you possibly are. Cheers, Grant
-
Rota also do the Formula Mesh too.. which are similar. If you find out where does a reasonably priced S204 Spoiler or a very good replica, then please let me know. Cheers, Grant

....Oops, double post....

I thought the top unit was some sort of funky Subaru Sat-Nav... but the WR Sport was the most expensive Impreza Turbo 2000 you could buy at the time, massive fan of the spec, the seats spoil it though....... because you're new, I'll offer to swap them with my leather STi front seats. No? Worth a try I suppose... Welcome to the Forum.. the Tayside Group meet is listed under events section, so pop along if you fancy it. Cheers, Grant

Someone from here Steve?? By the way, if you want to jump in with me in Dundee then feel free... I'll have to confirm closer to the time, but if I'm going then its no bother if you want to arrive in a Scoob. Cheers, Grant -
Crap idle and higher fuel consumption would point towards a MAF sensor away to me... have you replaced yours yet (I remember a thread a while back when I showed you where the MAF was), or is it the same one that came with the car from new?? Cheers, Grant

T1-S were great tyres but wore out pretty quickly on my MY98 Wagon.. and I bought a set of Rota wheels for my white MY99 4dr that came with T1-R fitted and was a bit sceptical as I'd not heard great things about them...... and took the car on one of our runs in the country which really tested them out, and they really surprised me, but that could have been cause my expectations were so low? To be honest, I'm a Goodyear Eagle F1 guy and wont be changing anytime soon.. however, when supply dries up of the current GSD3 F1's, I'll be trying the new F1 Assimetric design as its meant to be really good too. Cheers, Grant

To be honest mate, I'm not sure why that would be either... unless the STi has an oil cooler over the WRX, or a bigger capacity cooler if they both have them fitted. Like Iain said, I'm sure someone with a more mechanical knowledge will help out here. I'm running 15w50 in my car too, again, not sure if that makes a great deal of difference. Cheers, Grant

1) Oil Temperature: When driving, my car sits around 85-90deg... the highest recorded I've had was 100deg and that was some serious back road driving followed by an extended cooldown. 2) Boost gauge: Sounds about right, might want to double check with Andy what boost he mapped your car to but if its 1.4bar then its all good. 3) Oil Pressure Gauge: When started from cold, I'm hitting just over 7.5bar here, once warm and idling it sits happily at 2.8-3.0bar constantly. Blip the throttle/drive normally it'll read about 6.8-7.0bar. If you are giving the car stick, it should be constantly hitting the high pressure..... if you are driving the car on boost and that dips, then let off and stop immediately as it shouldnt be doing that. At least thats what I've read and always gone by. Cheers, Grant

Well, I drove this on Monday... and I was prepared to slate it and back up the claims that Subaru should be locked away in a padded cell for dreaming this thing up. In reality, the thing absolutely blew me away.. not so much the power, which was nice, progressive and I'm sure it felt quicker than my car did as standard. But, having a done a couple of wee things to mine I'm kind of spoilt for power/torque now so its hard to make a back to back comparison on that front. I'm sure that if someone was in a stock Hawkeye STi and had a drive of this new STi then they'd definitely feel the difference though. However, what really got me, was the ride/handling balance.. the car manages to tick all the boxes IMO. Over normal british roads (i.e - Crap) the car soaks up the bumps, which I experienced in the new WRX as well.... and assumed that it was going to be like the WRX in the bends as well and a bit 'rolly polly' and soft. I was wrong. This car is truely amazing in the bends, a very little body roll, massive grip, communicative steering and just amazing ground covering ability. This just shows that the new Impreza has moved on MASSIVELY from the previous MY cars, I havent driven an Impreza that does everything so well straight out of the box.. ok, some might say that a P1 will handle as well as this does, which is true, but if the truth be told the P1 is pretty harsh on the road. A new WRX is just as comfy as the STi on normal A-road/Motorways but is a fair bit behind the top model when it comes to ability on a twisty section of road.. I have done a couple of handling things to my Hawkeye STi (Springs, Geometry, Eagle F1s, Strut Brace) and I think it handles well, but its quite harsh over the lumps and bumps that are found on our roads. As standard, the new car handles as well as mine but also with ability to soak up the defects and when you get to the twisties I think its got a greater level of feel through the steering than my car too. Styling is a personal thing... and I was part of the group that slated the look of the new Impreza and I still dont particularly like the look of the range, apart from the STi. I was out for a drive in a White STi and the dealer has a White WRX so its very easy to compare the cars as they sit next to each other.. the STi looks great, very menacing with its wider stance and although I'm not 100% sure of the bonnet scoop from the outside, from inside it reminds me of my old ST205 GT4 bonnet bulge which I loved. The rest of the interior is nice too, the dark headlining, seats, dials, etc all add to the feeling that you arent just in a stock Impreza with a bit more poke, which is the feeling that I sort of got with the WRX. Well, just thought I'd share that with you all. If you haven't driven or seen one of these cars, then I'd recommend heading down to your local dealer just for a look...... I'd be really surprised if you weren't as shocked as I was. Cheers, Grant

One of my mates has just bought a facelifted DC5 and even though its totally stock, its a quick car... and around the bends its amazing. Was up at the Type-R Scotland Dyno Day and a couple of the Supercharged DC5's were making very close to 300bhp. Cheers, Grant

Here is the link to the Focus build... Not sure if you need to register or not, but its worth it. Cheers, Grant
-
Yea, Andy's new Focus is going to be amazing... there is a massive thread over on Passionford about it, its being built from Carbon Fibre, amazing detail and completely different to any 'build' I've seen before. He's aiming for 1000kg and will be using his 600bhp+ engine, so it should be even quicker than the white one, which wasn't exactly slow or heavy at around 1250kg!! Cheers, Grant

I had a revolution splitter on my Hawkeye... and it was brilliant quality but cracked and shattered into a whole heap of bits when I caught it on a bit of road I was crawling over (c10mph). I now have the HT Autos plastic one fitted and quality is about 95% as good as the Revolution one but I am a bit more confident that if I was to kiss the same bit of tarmac that killed my original one, then I'd come out the other side with it intact with this plastic one. Cheers, Grant
